UPGRADE WORKSEarlier this year, Waverley Council were successful in receiving grant funding to improve shade in the play space. The timing for these works has now been coordinated with the upgrade of the play space, which was identified as a high priority in Council play Space Strategy. For more information on the Play Space Strategy visit: http://www.waverley.nsw.gov.au/playspacestrategy.pdf.
The design of the O’Donnell Street Reserve Play Space has been adapted to accommodate the suggestions received during community consultation earlier in 2015. There was strong support for the upgrade proposals. Priorities set by the community including requests for:
• A play structure similar to the existing with additional climbing elements
• Artificial softfall instead of mulch softfall
• Improved safety barriers to the road edges
• Improved shade from structures or trees
• More benches and seating
To review the community consultation summary please visit our website www.waverley.nsw.gov.au and search ‘O’Donnell Street Reserve’. The construction works are scheduled for mid February 2016 to avoid conflict during construction over the school holiday period. For more information please contact Council’s Senior Landscape Architect [email protected] or telephone 9083 8671.
