Program Overview
The main thrust of the Graduate Employability Management Scheme (GEMS) is to train, expose and prepare fresh graduates for future career opportunities with the intention to contribute to the economy by reducing the shortage of talent in key economic sectors.
Enrolment Criteria • Malaysian citizens • Fresh graduates (Bachelor’s degree only) • CGPA 3.00 and below • Graduated from recognized local institutions • Unemployed at the point of enrolment • 27 years old and below
Training Overview
The GEMS training program1 is structured as follows:
Part A: Technical Training – 15 days Host Company to choose one technical track: 1. Field Engineer (Fabrication) Development Program; or 2. Field Engineer (Hook-up, Construction & Commissioning) Development Program; or 3. Field Engineer (Installation) Development Program
Part B: Soft Skills Training – 5 days (optional)
Part C: Personal Development via Community Service – 5 days
Part D: Company-specific Training – 20 days2
1 All training must be concluded within 8 months. 2 Part D refers to any internal company training.
Part A: Technical Essentials (15 days)
Field Engineer (Fabrication) Development Program
• Malaysian Oil & Gas Services Industry and Its Value Chain (2 days)
• Fundamentals of Offshore Structural Engineering (5 days)
• Fabrication and Load-out for Offshore Oil and Gas Projects (3 days)
• Hook-up, Construction and Commissioning for Offshore Oil & Gas Projects (2 days); or Introduction to Ship Conversion and FPSO (2 days)
• Project Management 101: A step-by-step Approach Using PMI PMBOK Guide (3 days)
Field Engineer (HuCC) Development Program
• Malaysian Oil & Gas Services Industry and Its Value Chain (2 days)
• Installation of Offshore Oil & Gas Structures (3 days)
• Hook-up, Construction and Commissioning for Offshore Oil & Gas Projects (5 days)
• Maintenance Activities for Topsides (2 days)
• Project Management 101: A step-by-step Approach Using PMI PMBOK Guide (3 days)
Field Engineer (Installation)
