Dear Parents/Carers,
We were pleased to be able to offer the students the opportunity to
take part in school photos last Monday. The day went well with
students looking fantastic in uniform. Many thanks to parents who
have supported the request made last week for all students to wear
uniform. It is a school expectation that uniform is worn daily.
As of yesterday, students have been asked to play within staged
groups on the playground. Staff and students absent from school
with flu like symptoms are required to provide documentation of
a negative result COVID test prior to returning. This additional
COVID restriction was introduced as a result of DET direction.
Please refer to COVID updates noted later in this newsletter.
Many thanks to Mrs Bright who ordered additional tennis rackets for
the school through the Hot Shots Program. The rackets and balls were
donated for use by our students. Keep an eye out for photos of our
students gracing the tennis courts.
Congratulations to the students of Nyngan PS who have displayed
Safe, Respectful and Cooperative behaviours. The tub is full!!! On
Thursday the SRC have organised an afternoon of celebration.
Students will rotate around a selection of outdoor activities (in Stage
groups), dressed as their favourite sports stars and eating ice cones.
Many thanks to Mrs Johnson and the SRC for coordinating this.
I would like to wish all families a restful Mid Term Break (Alternate
Work Organisation). Classes resume Tuesday 25th of August, 2020.

STAGE 2 GEOGRAPHY EXCURSION
On Tuesday 18th August, Year 3 and Year 4 got split into groups and went to Dead Duck
Lagoon.
We took photos of the lagoon and the bushland around it. We drew a sketch of the environment
around us and also wrote about what we could hear, feel and smell.
We located where we were on a map of Nyngan and made a list of all the plants and animals
that we could see. We saw a bird’s nest in a tree which Claire told us was a crow’s nest. We
also saw horses, ducks and lots of insects.
It was a good fieldtrip because we had lots of fun and we got to study the environment around
us. We also got to have lunch at the oval.

On Tuesday 18th August, Years 3 and 4 went to Dead Duck Lagoon for an environmental study
for our geography unit.
We took photos of the lagoon and wrote down ideas about how to keep the area protected. We
listed the plants and animals that we could see and also what we could smell and feel in the
area.
We were put in groups and had a picnic lunch on the oval.
It was a good fieldtrip because we got to explore our local area and see lots of different plants
and animals.
