Universitat de Barcelona (UB)► The UB is the largest of all the universities in Catalunya. The UB is ranked the first Spanish university in scientific quality and productivity.

► The UB develops all the activities related to the research in Europe through the International Research Projects Unit (OPIR).

► The Promotion Section of the OPIR is in charge of the pre-award assistance for EC programmes (and others).

Some numbers

Fundació Bosch i Gimpera de la Universitat de Barcelona (FBG)

► In FP7 projects, FBG is considered as a third party of the UB, but not covered by Special Clause 10, since it doesn’t perform any scientific or technical work in the projects.

► The FBG is a foundation integrated and controlled by the UB, and it’s not a subcontractor, since it belongs to the UB Group.

► The Financial Management Section of the OPIR is in charge of the post-award assistance for EC programmes (and others).

● Agility: the payment and transfer deadlines (to partners, etc.) are faster if they’re done by a Foundation than by a public administration.

► Why a UB Foundation is in charge of the european projects management?

● Staff specialization: people in charge of work can be selected under different rules that the ones imposed to a public administration. Their salaries can also be adapted to its knowledge and the development of its tasks.● Less bureaucracy: a Foundation can develop its own procedures following functional criteria.
