STM32 Connectivity Line32-bit microcontroller with USB OTG, Ethernet with IEEE 1588, dual CAN, audio class I²SThe STM32 Connectivity Line is the latest addition to the highly successful STM32 Family of ARM® Cortex™-M3 powered MCUs, adding support for high performance industry standard interfaces while maintaining pin-and-software compatibility with other STM32 Product Lines.

Superior connectivity: Ethernet with IEEE 1588, USB OTG and dual CANThe STM32 Connectivity line makes networking economical as a result of an embedded Ethernet MAC with a dedicated DMA controller. The IEEE 1588 precision time protocol hardware support provides accurate clock synchronization over the network and retains ample CPU bandwidth to implement an embedded application.

USB 2.0 OTG makes the STM32 Connectivity line a turnkey solution to add a USB device, host or OTG function to aproduct.Firmwareupgradesinthefield, dataloggingordatastoragearenowaseasyasconnectingastandardUSB mass storage device to the STM32. Adding a USB keyboard, mouse or any other device is just as easy.

The dual CAN 2.0B makes the STM32 Connectivity Line a turnkey solution to implement a CAN gateway. Also since dual CAN and USB peripherals can be used simultaneously,theSTM32istheperfectfittoconnectacomputerorUSBdevicetoCANnetworks.

Superior audio: audio class I²SThe two audio class I²S of the STM32 Connectivity line, combined with the embedded Ethernet and USB OTG peripherals, address the connectivity and features required of many home-audio applications. The high-quality audio is achieved thanks to a new PLL block with the two I2S peripherals, which then generate the accurate master clock for the audio DAC.

The USB 2.0 OTG controller can connect any USB device, including USB mass storage devices and portable audio players. The powerful Cortex-M3 core running at 72MHzisabletohandleaudiodecodingofmusicfilesstoredonanSDcardorUSBmassstoragedeviceconnectedtotheSTM32,aswellastheuserinterface.

The combination of advanced, connectivity-oriented peripherals, standard STM32 peripherals including a PWM timer, and the high processing performance of the 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3™ CPU also allow developers to consolidate multiple functions such as motor-control, user-interface control and connectivity features in equipment such as domestic appliances, building controls or industrial automation. Other applications will include systems requiring network accessibility, data-logging, or USB peripheral extension, such as patient monitors, point-of-sale terminals, vending machines, and safety or security systems

Industrial: Battery chargers, high power LED supply, system power supplies for factory automation equipment

Consumer: Set top boxes, cable and DSL modems and routers, GPS, infotainment

The A4403 is a buck converter that uses valley current-mode control. This control scheme allows very short switch on-times to be achieved, making it ideal for applications that require high switching frequencies combined with high input voltages and low output voltages. Low cost is accomplished through high switching frequencies of up to 2 MHz, allowing smaller and lower value inductors and capacitors. In addition, minimal external components are required through high levels of integration. Optimal drive circuits are utilized to minimize switching losses. The switching frequency is maintained constant, as the on-time is modulated by the input voltage. This feed-forward control ensures excellent line correction. The on-time is set by an external resistor pulled-up to the input supply.

Whenpowerisinitiallyappliedandthedeviceisenabled,auser-configurablesoft-startfunctionoccurstominimizeinrushcurrentandto prevent output overshoot. Internal housekeeping and bootstrap supplies are provided which only require the addition of one small ceramic capacitor. A top-off charge pump is also provided to ensure correct operation at light loads. Internal diagnostics provide comprehensive protection against overcurrents, input undervoltages, and overtemperatures. The device package is a 16-contact, 4 mm × 4 mm, 0.75 mm nominal overall height QFN, with exposed pad for enhanced thermal dissipation. It is lead (Pb) free, with 100% matte tin leadframe plating.

VersaClock™ III Programmable ClocksMulti purpose clock provides many solutions including cost savings, reduced board space and greatly increased versatility VersaClock™ products allow designers to save board space and cost by replacing crystals, oscillators and buffers with a single timing device. Exceptionalversatilityandconfigurabilityallowformaximumfreedominthe design process.

There are four internal PLLs, each individually programmable, allowing for up to seven unique frequencies. These frequencies are generated from a single reference clock, which can come from one of two redundant clock inputs. A glitchless automatic or manual switchover function allows the redundant clock to be selected during normal operation.

VersaClockdevicesarehighlyconfigurableandcanbeprogrammedthrough the use of the I2C interface. The programming interface enables the device to be programmed when it is in normal operation. An internal EEPROMallowstheusertosaveandrestoretheconfigurationofthedevice without having to reprogram it on power-up.

VersaClock products from IDT provide an almost universal solution for a variety of high performance clock applications. All Versaclock III product information, software, and support contact information can be found at: www.idt.com/go/versaclock3

Low-Voltage CML Families SY56xxx - 6.4Gbps Precision Edge IC’s with Equalization

SY54xxx – The Power Saving Clock Distribution Family

The products in the SY56xxx family are fully differential and operate up to 5GHz or 6.4Gbps. The input structures of these products have an Equalization (EQ) circuit that compensates for signal degradation caused by the transmission medium. The EQ circuit can compensate for up to 27 inches of FR4 signal attenuation.

The differential input includes Micrel’s unique, 3-pin input termination architecture that interfaces to ANY differential signal, without any level-shifting or termination resistor networks in the signal path. The differential input can accept AC-coupled CML, LVPECL, and LVDS signals.

The SY56xxx family operates from a 2.5V ±5% core supply and a 1.2V, 1.8V, or 2.5V ±5% output supply. It is guaranteed to operate over the full industrial temperature range, from -40°C to +85°C.
