As you walk down Bell Gate Drive listen to the breeze blowing through the trees and see if you can collect any fallen conkers – how do they feel to touch? 2. Look out for the fluffy seed heads of London Plane trees that hang like soft little lanterns along the path of Pe’s Terrace 3. Pause for a moment and take a seat at the Temple of Friendship to quietly absorb the world around you. Admire the vivid autumn colours as you look out at the view across the lake and up to the Gothic Temple. 4. As you walk towards the gate for Lamport Garden stop to touch the prickly monkey puzzle trees. 5. Listen to the water as it trickles over Brown’s Cascade. 6. Look up to see the weeping beech tree’s vines pour out above you. Can you see the leaves changing to their autumn colour? Have they begun to fall? 7. Close your eyes and touch the milestone, tracing the engraved distances to places nearby. From here you look out over the parkland, the field you can see was once the site of the village of Lamport which was demolished in the 1840s as the Temple family expanded their deer park. Only the ridge and furrow lines are left visible today. Think about who lived here before and how they would have felt having to leave their homes. Nearby you can see the leftover bricks from the Lamport Manor stables. 8. Take a seat on the fallen tree and take in the environment around you. What sounds, sights and smells do you notice? How many different colours can you see in the trees? Watch the water in the pond and see if you can spot any creatures.
