FROM THE PRESIDENT – Ann Wherry - To All Members
Welcome to our first Cast Lift & Draw for 2017. Welcome again to our new members and to the newly elected Executive and Councillors for 2017. A list of their names and contact details can be found further down this newsletter.
After meeting with our major sponsor, Dogpro, they have agreed to go forward with the NSW Sheepdog Workers as our major sponsor for the next three years. We are fortunate to have a generous sponsor in Dogpro and thank the trials, members, volunteers and public who have supported with sponsorship by purchasing Dogpro products. Details of this sponsorship can be found later in this newsletter.
The NSW Selection Trial will be held at the Orange Field Day grounds at Borenore. The entry form is at the end of the newsletter. All spectators along with any offers to help run this event are very welcome.
The 2017 Supreme is being held at Kings Park, Seymour, Victoria on October 14 to 22, 2017. For further details please email [email protected]. I’m sure you will enjoy this newsletter with lots going on. Enjoy your trialling.
FROM THE SECRETARY – Janelle Fessey
Nothing to report at this stage other than I am very busy with the Treasurer’s job, Secretary’s job, Molong Sheepdog Trial and helping organise the Selection Trial on 22 to 26 June 2017 at Orange. I hope to see many of you there, either as spectators or competitors.
2017 AGM PRESIDENTS REPORT
I would like to welcome you all to our 2017 Annual General Meeting, and thank you for attending. I ask you all to stand for a one minute silence to remember our absent friends.
Firstly, I would like to thank the Committee for their valued help and support during the last twelve months. A special mention to Josie Kimpton (Secretary), who has worked “above and beyond the call of duty”. Also thanks to our Treasurer Janelle Fessey and Registrar Ann Moy, these ladies are always on the job promoting our Association along with keeping the records current. The association values their knowledge and dedication.
Being involved with the day to day running of the association is like being in a swiftly flowing river or a whirlwind, often taking us in a direction we hadn’t expected.
We operate in a dynamic and changing environment and are aware of the demands that today’s society places on our Association and members. This requires us to constantly try to improve what we do. As caretakers of our sport and in the presentation of our trials on behalf of our generous sponsors and to the general public. Throughout the year our affiliates have run trials all over NSW and our membership continues to grow. As a result these trials have attracted large numbers and an increasing quality in dogs and handlers competing.
It has been an honour to serve the NSW Sheep Dog Workers Association as President.
2017 AGM SECRETARY’S REPORT
This year has, once again, been a trying one for the Executive. We have had a number of sensitive issues which have had to be dealt with and which have been very time consuming. Hopefully, this year will have less problems.
Unfortunately due to family, health and time constraints I will be unable to continue on as Secretary and hope that one of you will “take the bull by the horns” and stand up to become Secretary for this term. It’s a shame that with over 200 members no-one to date has seen fit to stand up to be counted. It’s your association and if everyone had a go for even one year then no-one would have to do it more than once (unless you live over 200 years that is).
With the Supreme coming up in 2018 this year and next will be very exciting!
Thank you for all your cooperation and assistance over the last 12 months and I hope to see you all on the trial grounds after my recovery from knee surgery. I guess I’ll be able to limp with the best of them from now on!

DOGPRO SUPREME AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2018
Congratulations to Sydney Sheepdog Club on being chosen to host the Dogpro Supreme Australian Championships next year. We look forward to an extraordinary event with the New Zealanders coming over to provide us with an example of their best trialling. Not only will the triallers be looked after but their wives will be able to either shop locally or catch the train into the city to get some shopping done! More information regarding the 2018 Supreme will be in forthcoming editions.
REMINDER TO ALL COMPETITORS
Please ensure that when you are entering a dog that is not owned by you, you must include “owned by” and “worked by” on the entry form. There are still a few competitors who are not abiding by this rule.
REMINDER TO ALL CLUB SECRETARIES
Please ensure that when receiving entries all dogs have registered numbers. If in doubt, please phone the Registrar, Ann Moy.
Also, please ensure that you fill out the DogPro forms and send them off to Bill Stoppani in accordance with our Sponsorship received from DogPro.
WELCOME TO NEW MEMBERS FOR 2017

FROM OUR ROVING REPORTER – ALISON BURRELL
A few new provisional judges asked if they could go out to Greg Princes a few weeks ago to ask a few questions about judging and some rules before they take on some appointments. Greg was very supportive of them and went home and converted his training paddock into a trial ground. It was slashed, mown, marked out and measured ready for the day.
Sue Priest, Jon Cantrall and Rob Pamment all attended together and Nick Ryan also spent a day out there going over things.
The rules were discussed, debated, clarified and then some dogs were worked with each new judge having the opportunity to judge and ask questions without the pressure of trial conditions. Overall it was a very successful effort and great to see the members helping each other out to continue the development of judges and competitors in the sport.
Hopefully this could be done more frequently to encourage information sharing.
This looks more like a fishing story.... but could be referring to the delivery square.
This was obviously a very serious chat.
SPONSORSHIP 2017

The NSW Sheepdog Workers Inc. would like to thank Dogpro, and especially John Camilleri, and Dogpro Billy for their great support. Members, please always support those who support you. Listed below are the Trials who are supporting our partnership with Dogpro in 2017.
