Item 13 Donated by Joen Wolfrom of Fox Island, WA “Stepping Out” 2007 82” x 82” Designed and made by Joen Wolfrom and quilted by Veronica Nurmi. Can be hung on a wall or used as a dou­ble/queen bed coverlet. The design is a two­block design that plays with value and color changes. Its colors in­clude a variety of blues, violets, and reds. Its values move from very light to dark blue and black. Although this quilt is made from historic traditional blocks, the use of color and value gives it a very contemporary feeling.

Fabrics are from the Empire line, designed and manufactured in England, and based on a collection of antique prints featuring wall hangings and costumes of the 17th and 18th century.

This miniature won a blue ribbon at the 2008 Nebraska State Fair for Hand­Quilted Small Wall hanging and a spe­cial “Most Patriotic– small size” award.

Postcard method was learned in a Lincoln Quilters Guild workshop with Shelley Burge. Cards have clear mailing envelopes and are embellished with glass beads.

Item 25 Donated by Peg Pennell of Ashland, NE Quilted Portfolio 26” x 19” with 15.5” x 17” outside pocket on front and back pocket large enough for a 24” ruler. Machine pieced and quilted.

Item 26 Donated by Shelley Burge of Lincoln, NE “A Touch of Delft” Made in April, 1996, this quilt was made with blocks leftover from piecing the cover quilt of Shelly’s first book, Terrific Trian­gles. Most of the fabrics used were purchased in the Netherlands , a trip enabled by the Jewel Pearce Patterson Scholarship. The block pattern, “Dutch Nine Patch” was inspired by an antique quilt exhibited by the Netherlands National Quilt Guild at Quilt Expo Europa. The backing fabric was purchased at an Amish­owned quilt shop in Pennsylvania. Included is a copy of the book Terrific Trian­gles, which is now out of print.

Included are six cups and saucers, cream and sugar, and teapot in a lovely rose color. The coordinating patch­work doll quilt, measuring 14” x 18” is hand quilted by Nancy.

Item 33 Donated by Alice Cruz, of Omaha, NE This is a variation of Alice’s 1­Hur Tote Bag (it took a little longer.) Using her technique “Too Small to Keep, Too Big to Throw Away”, the outside of the bag is constructed from a color wheel of fabrics. The bag is lined with rust­dyed fabric and measures 17” tall,13” long, and 8” wide. This perfect­for­shopping­anywhere bag includes a walnut needle case made by artist Jim Jaworski of Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Item 34 Donated by Esther Kleinkauf of North Platte, NE “Victorian Crystal Fantasy” 25.5” x 25.5” Digitizing by Jenny Haskins, Australia. Silk dupioni, embellished with embroidery, beading, crystals, buttons and lace.

Item 35 Donated by Janet Kugler of Holdrege, NE “Teddy Strolling With Mary” 18.75” x 18.75” Made to honor Quilt Nebraska Teddy, who was part of the first (1986) QNE Raffle AND Mary Ghormley, an inspiration to all. The blue fabric is from Mary’s 2008 tag sale, having been purchased March 20, 1987 at the Bancroft, NE general store. Machine pieced and hand quilted by Janet Kugler, Teddy’s owner. Completed May, 2009

Item 36 Donated by Lynn Greer of Edgar, NE “Flower Basket” 11.25” x 12” An original miniature quilt made in the spring of 2009. This quilt features a small basket of flowers surrounded by an oval triple border and groupings of appliquéd flowers in all four corners of the next section. The fused flowers and basket are stitched with silk thread using a small buttonhole stitch on the sewing machine. Tiny borders are inserted in the center, and folded fabric flanges provide accents to the binding and outside border. Lynn machine quilted this miniature using silk thread.

I loved the stylized flowers of the cloth and mimicked them in my quilt. I did not have a drawn out plan, but designed as I went along.. This was just a fun project—all done by hand.”

Item 50 Donated by JWD Publishing LLC Flowers in Blue Milk Pitcher is a quilt designed by Gwen Marston. This appliqué quilt was created by Photo unavailable at press time Mickey Swall for JWD Publishing LLC. This four­block flower wall quilt is 50” x 54”. Flowers are multi­colored; the background is off­white; the flower pitchers and border are blue. This charming quilt is typical of Gwen Marston’s early primitive flower designs.

Item 51 Donated by Vicky Skuodas of Crete, NE The flaking paint on this 12" x 27" old white cradle does not diminish its charm. The blocks were purchased at Mary Ghormley's estate sale. Though not made by Mary, these vintage blocks make a period quilt that is certain to make any "little girl" smile!
