    II. Installation

    1. Where can I download the software? Please contact your point of purchase for the software for the specific process to follow for downloading the software. Alternatively, NSi AutoStore and all of NSi’s latest products can be downloaded at http://www.nsiautostore.com/downloads

    2. Can I install and use my software on multiple computers? AutoStore is licensed based on the number of devices connected to the server and in some cases, based upon the volume of images imported through the server. There is no limitation to the number of AutoStore servers deployed in any one environment. AutoStore licensing is enforced and limited by the number of capture sources (i.e. multi-function devices, scanners, and file imports). These capture licenses can be distributed across any number of AutoStore servers so long as the total number of capture source licenses is not exceeded. For example: 10 MFD capture licenses can be distributed as follows:

    1 Server – 10 MFD licenses

2 Servers – 5 MFD licenses each 3. How will I know when there are updates? With AutoStore Process Designer, click on the

software update button and select the appropriate component to update.

    4. What are the pre-requisites for the software? The pre-requisites for AutoStore include: .NET 3.5 and .NET 4.0

    5. Where do I find add-on components? The add-on components are available on the update

server which can be accessed from the AutoStore Process Designer (APD). 6. I am receiving a message saying my license expired. What do I do?

Please go to: http://www.nsiautostore.com/contact for the appropriate support contact.

    7. Does the installation require a reboot? No, it does not require a reboot. However, if you

are installing the pre-requisites such as .NET 4.0, then you might be prompted to perform a reboot.

    8. Can I upgrade my AutoStore 6.0 Evaluation license version to Production? Yes, the AutoStore evaluation license can be upgraded to a production version. Please

contact your NSi AutoStore sales contact. You will be provided an ‘INV’ number to migrate

    your evaluation license to production.

    9. My license key isn’t working or I can’t generate a License Key Request. What should I do? There could be several reasons why either of situations might occur. Please contact support: http://www.nsiautostore.com/support

    10. What products are available with AutoStore 6.0?

AutoStore is a platform with a suite of complementary solutions. For a comprehensive list of the components found in each version of AutoStore, please visit: http://www.nsiautostore.com/autostore/compare

    11. Can customers still order AutoStore 5.0?

New orders will only be fulfilled with AutoStore 6.0. Existing AutoStore 5.0 customers can either upgrade to AutoStore 6.0 or they can continue to order AutoStore 5.0 to supplement their system.

    12. Are Standard and Universal Device Connects available with AutoStore 6.0?

With AutoStore 6.0 there is no longer a Standard Device Connect. The MFP Device License is the replacement which is nothing more than the “Universal” license type previously available in AutoStore 5.

    13. What clients come as part of the order?

    By base product:

MFP Device (per)– includes three AutoCapture Clients and three WebCapture Clients

File Import – includes three AutoCapture Clients and three WebCapture Clients

Desktop Bundle – includes 20 AutoCapture Clients and 20 WebCapture Clients 14. Does AutoStore come with a 30 day trial? AutoStore does not come with a 30 day trial

initially. However, a trial license can be requested after initial installation. Once installed, go to AutoStore Process Designer (APD) and request a license key.

    15. Are there any new licensing additions in AutoStore 6.0? AutoStore natively supports more

than 500+ MFP devices and network scanners. However, for those circumstances where the business process requires automatically importing files from disk, AutoStore provides a file import license to meet this need. File import types will have an annual volume of 60,000 pages that automatically resets at the end of the calendar year. Multiple quantities of file import licenses can be ordered. Additionally, to accommodate peak processing periods, a customer can also purchase a non-expiring file import battery which has a volume of 30,000 images also available in quantities.

    16. What if a customer needs to capture data from FTP and email? To capture data from FTP and email, customers will have to purchase one FTP file import license and one email file import license. FTP allows import from multiple FTP sources and email import allows for capture from multiple email accounts and sources.

    17. What about the Content Management Queue? The Content Management Queue is also a

file import license type which has volume associated. 18. What happens for customers upgrading from AutoStore 5.0 to 6.0 with regard to

licensing? Components that did not have volume licensing will be grandfathered forward and no volume licensing will apply with AutoStore 6.0. For example, if the customer had Multi-Poll with AutoStore 5.0, there was no volume licensing associated with that component. Therefore, when upgrading to 6.0, the customer will continue to use Multi-Poll without volume licensing on that licensed server.

    19. What comes with the Desktop Bundle?

    The Desktop Bundle includes:

    20 Send to PC

20 AutoCapture or 20 WebCapture 20. What comes with the email file import license? The email file import license includes

SMTP, POP3 and IMAP protocol support. 21. What is an INV Number and what do I do with it?

The INV is a license string. It is required for NSi to issue a license. There is a prompt on the

Web Licensing Portal where you enter the INV.

    22. What happens to the AutoStore 5 licenses I currently have when I upgrade to AutoStore 6.0? Components licensed for with 5.0 are carried forward with 6.0.

    23. What is a volume license? With our new file import licenses, the following components will be required to have an annual image/file volume license:

XML Importer (a process component with volume)

    Multi-Poll

    FTP Importer

    RightFax Importer

Email Import (which includes all of the following): o POP3 Email Importer o IMAP Email Importer o SMTP Capture Service

  • Frequently Asked Questions – AutoStore 6.0

Licenses for each of the above items can be purchased for annual volumes of 60,000

    pages.

    24. Will existing customers be grandfathered-in? To accommodate existing customers, we will honor the existing license our 5.x customers have and when they upgrade to 6.x, there will be no volume license associated with any of the components listed above. However, all the above components must be active (present) in their existing 5.x configuration prior to upgrading to 6.x. Without those components present, we will be unable to inherit and promote their historical license. Further, if they are not using a component or a new one is introduced; volume licensing will then be enforced for that particular component going forward.

    25. When are page count volume licenses used? Page count volume licensing is used with file import components and the XML import process. Volume is measured on a calendar year.

    26. What volume licenses are available in NSi AutoStore 6.0? The following lists the basic

    volume licenses available in AutoStore:

“Image Volume” - allows you to scan or import an image. It can also be used to import an electronic document (such as a Microsoft Word file) too.

Electronic files (such as Microsoft Office documents) are counted as one page, regardless of the number of actual pages in the document.

    27. Can I mix “battery” and annual volumes? Batteries are intended to supplement your

volume usage if you have peak requirements. You can order batteries in multiple quantities.

    28. What is the Sunset Package? At some point in a product's "career", particular capabilities or piece of functionality reach the end of their product life cycle. NSi will begin the process of slowly phasing out certain components from AutoStore. The Sunset Package is a set of components which will be completely removed from AutoStore when AutoStore 7.0 is introduced. Within AutoStore 6.0, "The Sunset Package" will by default not be in the core setup installer. Instead, this package will be made available for install via AutoStore Process Designer's (APD) Software Update Service.

Some of these components have been made redundant (example: Poll Directory has been made redundant by Multi Poll) or the devices support is near the end of its Product Life Cycle.

The components in the Sunset Package include:

    1. Sharp Imager

    29. Which versions of Windows 7 are supported with AutoStore 6.0? AutoStore 6.0 has been validated with Windows 7 Professional 32 and 64 bit. However please keep in mind AutoStore is a 32-bit application. Therefore, in a 64-bit OS, it will run in 32-bit mode. For more details, please reference the Quick Reference Guide found in the NSi AutoStore Front Panel Simulator “Resources” section or at http://www.nsiautostore.com/support/documentation for complete OS details.

    30. Is there an automatic notification when running low on page counts? Yes, there is automatic notification when running low on page counts. When volume

reaches 80% consumed, warning messages will begin to appear in the Status Monitor. In

addition, customers can set notifications to be alerted. See the Administrator’s Guide for

    more information.

    31. How do you promote an evaluation license server to production licensed server? Once a customer purchases production license, the customer will need to apply their latest license request file along with their INV # to the Web License Portal to obtain a load file for their server.

    III. Upgrading

    1. Do I have to upgrade or can I keep my current version? Customers can remain on AutoStore 5.0 and continue to purchase additional licenses for their existing system. All new system purchases will be fulfilled with AutoStore 6.0 licenses.

    2. Can AutoStore Express be upgraded to AutoStore Workflow? Yes, AutoStoreExpress can be upgraded to AutoStore Workflow.

    http://www.nsiautostore.com/support/documentation

    3. Are software upgrades free? Software version upgrades are covered under the maintenance agreement. However, if you wish to move from one product to another (in example, AutoStore Express to AutoStore Workflow), then there will be an additional upgrade fee.

    4. What happens to volume usage when I upgrade my system? For customers upgrading

from AutoStore 5.0, your licensing carries forward to AutoStore 6.0. There is no volume usage with 5.0, therefore all your existing components will upgrade with no volume. New file import license components will have AutoStore 6.0 volume licensing apply.

    5. We are running Device CoNNect Standard licenses in AutoStore 5.0. These are no longer

available in AutoStore 6.0 anymore. What happens after the update? Customers upgrading from AutoStore 5.0 will have their Device CoNNect Standard licenses converted to AutoStore 6.0 MFP Device Licenses.

    6. We are using a third party application to generate XML files. What component do we need to process them with AutoStore 6.0? Customers using a third party application need to use XML Importer, a File Import License component.

    7. We have custom components developed by Professional Services how are they handled through the upgrade? It is highly recommended that customers with custom components contact NSi Professional Services. Many Professional Services custom components have been tested with 6.0. To assess current status with many of these Professional Services’ components, please use the Pre Flight tool at http://preflight.nsiautostore.com for preliminary information.

    8. We have AutoStore 5.0 and are using Knowledge Package Loader/Builder to write XML

files out to storage. What do we need to do to upgrade to AutoStore 6.0? With AutoStore 6.0 there is volume licensing in Knowledge Package Loader (KPL) for XML files not generated on the same version of AutoStore 6.0 (i.e. Express to Workflow). The implementation of volume control will allow NSi to limit/prohibit the unauthorized importation of images/documents into AutoStore. While KPL/B is typically not used for the immediate importation of objects into AutoStore, it is possible.

    9. There is no volume license for Knowledge Package Loader (KPL). How do you ensure

authorized use? NSi is introducing a GUID into Knowledge Package Builder (KPB) Transaction. If the XML file that KPL is using was generated by KPB, this would be the result of a step in a task within an AutoStore process. The GUID will allow all XML files produced in this manner to be processed by the KPL without the need of volume counting.

    http://preflight.nsiautostore.com/

  • Frequently Asked Questions – AutoStore 6.0

    11 Version 1.2

    Copyright 2012 Notable Solutions, Inc.

    10. Are there any caveats? Yes there are. For instance, KPL only Loads XML from KPB. KPL will now *only* be able to be used to load XML which originates from KPB. If this new Transaction GUID is not detected, or an incorrect GUID is attempted, KPL will fail that task. If "vanilla" XML is required for import into AutoStore, the XML Import component can instead be used—which already has volume licensing in place for 6.0.

    11. What is the Customer Impact? If you have a customer or partner that has leveraged the

KPB XML schema for a custom import into AutoStore, please understand that if the GUID is *not* present in the XML being loaded by KPL, it will fail. To that end, it might be a great idea to start discussing with some partners that they will need to change their configs to use the XML Import component to import in these files. A volume license will be required.

    12. What is Like for Like" Requirement? To also minimize the risk that a large deployment will

consider a "fleet" of Express licenses, and then simply use one or two Workflow licenses, we are adding to the algorithm generating the Transaction GUID a flag that tells KPL what product produced the KPB XML file.

    13. What is the Customer Impact? XML produced by KPB in AutoStore Express can only be

imported into KPL in AutoStore Express. Thus, like for like. Something to consider: If you are promoting the idea of "FutureStore" (export an XML file for later use in reimporting into a ECM system at a later time) make 110% certain that it is AutoStore Workflow licenses used to produce the XML. Otherwise, the GUID will fail the KML test if being imported into AutoStore Workflow (required for most of our ECM Route processes).

    V. Components

    1. Where do I find a list of all the components that come with my software? All the components that have been licensed can be viewed in license manager.

    2. Where can I find a list of all the optional components? Contact your point of sales representative for a list of additional available components.

    3. Has any of the scripting languages or calls changed? Scripting languages have not changed

from AutoStore 5.0 to AutoStore 6.0. 4. What happened to former components-e.g., Basic Image Management, Professional

Image Management, and Professional Barcode, etc? Will my workflow still work after the upgrade? Professional Image Management and Professional Barcode are still components

of AutoStore 6.0. Basic Image Management and other Sunset components are available from the update server.

    5. We have Professional Services components that are now part of the standard product,

how does this impact my existing application? Please contact Professional Services as they will need to certify custom development on

    AutoStore 6.0.

    VI. Maintenance

    1. Why does AutoStore 6.0 ship with 30 days maintenance? AutoStore 6.0 ships with 30 days warranty from the day it is installed to allow customers to download updates and add-ons. If it shipped with software maintenance expired this would not be possible.

    2. A customer bought multiple years of maintenance. Will he be charged for the price difference? No, with the purchase of multiple years of maintenance, the customer does not have to buy anything extra until his contract expires.

    3. A customer bought multiple years of maintenance. Is he eligible for new components? Does he have the ability to convert licenses? Yes, the terms of the maintenance are not changing.

    4. What happens to a customer who upgraded from AutoStore 5.0 to 6.0 who had a file

importing product like Multipoll, Poll Director, POP3 Email connect or SMTP capture? Will his license remain without a page count? Yes, customers who migrate their installation from AutoStore 5.0 to 6.0 will be provided “grandfathered” licensing. In other words, no page count will be applied to the licenses they grandfather.

    5. What happens to customers who have generic licenses with Poll Directory? These customers need to download and install the Sunset Package from the Software

Update Server to receive the Poll Directory license without a page count. They will be

treated as file import customers and can no longer change licenses from generic to another

    vendor.

    6. A customer needs to import files from multiple file import sources like Multi Poll and POP3 Email connected. What does he need to order? The customer needs to order one file import license for Multi Poll and one file import license for email. File import for email provides POP3, SMTP, and IMAP licenses.

    7. How will page counting in the above sample work? The customer will have independent

counts on both file import licenses (60,000 pages per calendar year on Multi Poll and 60,000 pages per calendar year on POP3 Email).

  • Frequently Asked Questions – AutoStore 6.0

    13 Version 1.2

    Copyright 2012 Notable Solutions, Inc.

    8. What is my available page count if I purchase file import on December 1, 2012? You can

capture 60,000 pages until Dec 31st 2012. On January 1, 2013 your page count will be reset to 60,000 pages.

    9. How are battery licenses being used? A battery license can be used to extend the page

count of a server to handle a peak. When ordering battery licenses, specify the type of file import battery you need (example: Batch Importer, Email, Multi Poll, etc.).

    10. What does maintenance cover? Maintenance allows a customer to receive major updates

to the software (i.e. 5.x to 6.x), minor updates and service packs, access to the NSi support. For more details contact: [email protected].

    11. Is maintenance paid annually? The initial maintenance contract always starts on the date the software license is purchased, regardless of the date of installation.

    12. What if add-on components are purchased later? Add-on components also follow the

policy as stated above. If the customer would like to arrange for coterminous contracts, please contact your point of sales.

    13. Does a customer need to be current on maintenance to upgrade to AutoStore 6.0? Yes,

all customers on current maintenance contracts have access to AutoStore 6.0.

    VII. License Processing

    1. How are licenses activated in AutoStore 6.0? The process for provisioning AutoStore 6.0 licenses has been improved. Both evaluation and production licenses can be obtained via www.weblicense.nsiautostore.com. The process is a complete “self-service” system where the end-customer registers for access to the system. Once registered, the end-customer can provision the required licenses for their AutoStore 6.0 system. In the future, end-users will also be able to reallocate licenses through this same system.

    2. Who should register on the license portal, an end customer or the technician from the

partner? The end customer should register on the Web Licensing portal. This is done for several reasons, including license recovery, extension and reallocation.

    VIII. Technical License Questions

    1. In AutoStore there is a new barcode component named just, “Barcode”. It can do much more than Professional Barcode. What is the reason behind it? The “Barcode Component” is the new standard barcode engine in AutoStore. It is a very complete engine with many features, which means the Professional Barcode component is available for special projects or for legacy reasons and can be found within the Sunset Package. It is highly recommended that all configurations move to this much more complete barcode reading component.

    2. A customer who has migrated from 5.0 to 6.0 wants to use any new component in AutoStore 6.0, like Barcode or Data Filter. What does he need to do? These licenses will be available free of charge if he has active maintenance. The user must attach their AutoStore 6.0 License Request File to the License Portal and select “Obtain 5.0 to 6.0 migration booster pack” option from the drop-down list.

    3. What happens to components which are no longer available in AutoStore 6.0, such as Poll Directory, etc? Many of these legacy components are included as an optional download through Software Updates. They are all included in a package called the “Sunset Package.” Each of the Sunset Package components will work perfectly fine in AutoStore 6.0. However, they will likely be discontinued with the next release, AutoStore 7. With the exception of some very old device capture components, most of the Sunset Package components are included as they have been replaced by newer components which provide greater capability.

    4. What happens to the OmniPage OCR component which was part of AutoStore 5.0.? The OmniPage OCR component is no longer supported by NSi and is not included in the Sunset Package.

    5. What happened to Active Workflow Driver and Data Parser? Both components wil remain available as Professional Services components and can be ordered as prt of a paid engagement. Customers who have them will keep their license. Technically, most of the capabilities of these components are now included in the Data Filter component found in both the Express and Workflow versions of AutoStore 6.

    6. A customer wants to use AutoCapture and WebCapture. How are these licensed? The components are licensed per user and have their own separate license pool. Customers can purchase additional AutoCapture and WebCapture licenses by purchasing a Desktop Bundle License.
