The Adjudi- cating Committee said on the choice of Mats Gustafsson: "For over two decades Mats Gustafsson has been one of the big names in improvised music. THE SONGBOOK OF FAMOUS BRAZILIAN COMPOSER ANTONIO CARLOS JOBIM VINI IUEL SINGS JOBIM Vini Iuel (vocal / DK), Robertinho Silva (drums & percussion / BR), Thomas Clausen (piano / DK), Jesper Lundgaard (bass / DK) Jobim is with no doubt one of the greatest composers the world has ever seen. Most of us are familiar with his beautiful melodies that speak right to our hearts. Jobim’s universe is both beautiful and intense and an inner journey to the exotic Brazil is inevitable once you listen to the music. On this evening our own Vini Iuel will take us on this journey to the land and the music that she has loved and explored for the past 25 years. Vini is bringing a super trio consisting of one of Brazil’s most beloved and legendary musicians, Robertinho Silva plus our own Thomas Clausen, who has played with many great Brazilian musicians through the years. At Montmartre he will meet with Denmark’s own Carsten Dahl, a true European pianistic great. THE TASTE OF JAZZ WITH ITALIAN FLAVOUR

ENRICO RAVA WITH BOLLANI / BODILSEN / LUNDEnrico Rava (trumpet / IT), Stefano Bollani (piano/ IT)Jesper Bodilsen (bass / DK), Morten Lund (drums / DK)

Enrico Rava is one of Europe’s greatest musicians, which he certainly proved when he received the Jazzpar Prize in 2002. It was at this event that Rava worked with Stefano Bollani as his accompanist, and where Bollani met Jesper Bodilsen and Morten Lund. Since this meeting Bollani / Bodilsen / Lund have achieved the status as one of Europe’s most celebrated and sought after piano trios. When Enrico Rava reunites with the busy trio, Montmartre will be set for three magical nights with four of the most prominent musicians in Europe at the moment. As al-ways, they play ‘from the heart’ and deliver beautiful melodies, an irresistible drive and with a sparkle in their eye. This also applies to the captivating introductions that Rava and Bollani are well known for - besides being virtuosos as musicians they are also among jazz’s funniest men.

ASTONISHING NEW SINGER FIRST TIME AT MONTMARTRE

SIGNE JUHL+ NIKOLAJ BENTZON TRIO Signe Juhl (vocal / DK), Nikolaj Bentzon (piano / DK)Kasper Tagel (bass / DK), Daniel Fredriksson (drums / SE)

Once in a while a new talent surfaces and simply dazzles the audience. Signe Juhl is that new young talent, a well-rounded singer, technically perfect and with an expression that takes the audience by storm. Her inspirations are Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and Dinah Washington, and she also has a love for Joni Mitchell. She has a vocal energy and a glow about her that captivates the listener in a way that is hard to describe, one has to experience it. As a prelude to the Montmartre concerts Signe Juhl and Nikolaj Bentzon will be releasing the album Silver-tongued. And it is together with Nikolaj Bentzon, one of Den-mark’s most distinguished pianists and composers, that Signe Juhl will show us why she is Denmark’s new great vocal star.

MASTER PIANIST VISITS MONTMARTRE

KENNY BARRON TRIOKenny Barron (piano / US), Kiyoshi Kitagawa (bass / US), Lee Pearson (drums / US)

Kenny Barron is one of the jazz world’s greatest pianists, few other musicians enjoy the same prestige and popularity. In Copenhagen, we know him for his amazing perfor-mances with Stan Getz, and we are happy that Kenny Barron again has found time to stop by Jazzhus Montmartre, this time with his trio. All through his career Kenny Barron has played and explored the art of the trio and today he is at the height of his career, much admired for his tasteful playing and own compositions which in many cases have gained status as jazz standards. With him he is bringing his longtime bassist Kiyoshi Kitagawa and the fantastic new young drummer Lee Pearson. This is a very special opportunity to experience one of the greatest profiles in jazz at very close range.

DANISH SONGSTRESS STAR AND SWEDISH PIANO VIRTOUSO

SINNE EEG & LARS JANSSON Signe Eeg (vocal / DK), Lars Jansson (piano / SE) A rare meeting between two of Scandinavia’s greatest musicians! Something happens when Sinne Eeg enters the stage at Jazzhus Montmartre. The clear voice with a wide range in the intimate room is simply spellbinding. And with Lars Jansson on the piano, together they hit the core of what a song essential-ly is about. Lars is well-known on the European jazz scene for both his strong musicianship and as a great composer. On these three evenings Sinne and Lars will present songs from their own award-winning catalogues as well as beauti-ful jazz standards, all in the playful musical language that exists between these two jazz extraordinaries.

AFTER X-MAS NIGHTS

BO STIEF & BOBO MORENOWITH OLE KOCK HANSEN Bo Stief (bass / DK), Bobo Moreno (vocal / DK), Ole Kock Hansen (piano / DK) One of the most significant legends of Montmartre’s first era (1959-1976) is the great bassist Bo Stief. He has a big and loyal faithful audience. On these two nights he guests us once again with his latest and very successful band featuring one of the grand old men of Danish jazz, the exceptional tasteful and popular Ole Kock Hansen, known for his fantastic partnership with NHØP and as leader of the Danish Radio Big Band. Together with Bobo Moreno, who has built a name for himself as one of Denmark’s most admired and respected vocalists the trio will bring us many of the fantastic songs from their latest album 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover plus a whole new series of songs. There is no better way to spend the last days of 2011. Not to be missed!
