Was baptized Catholic as a child, but has not celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation
and Eucharist?
We offer an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about our faith. Sessions
focus on the teachings and experience of Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments
of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter season. You are welcome to participate in
the process with your questions, your insights and your faith story in a warm accepting setting. Also,
anyone who would like to help with the sessions is asked to contact us. For information, please
contact Fr. Andrew.
The next Youth Group meeting for age youths from Grades 5 and up will meet: Middle School &
High School (Simultaneously) on the 1st & 3rd Mondays of the month. The next will be on Monday,
2 December from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.in the Heatherton Community Centre.
Please note: Please find on our Facebook page and webpage a letter for parishioners for the “Year
of the Eucharist” from Archbishop Brian Joseph Dunn, Apostolic Administrator of Antigonish.
There will be a showing of the acclaimed pro-life movie, "UNPLANNED" this Sunday evening,
24 November beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Heatherton Community Centre (Room 103). For adults
and mature youth due to life issues topic. Sponsored by the Msgr. Hugh MacPherson Knights of

Copies of “The Word Among Us” are available for $3.00 each at the entrances of the churches.

Monsignor Hugh MacPherson Knights of Columbus “Coats For Kids”: Bins are now at the back of
all churches for your gently used items of winter coats, hats, mitts, snow pants and snowsuits. We
had a great response last year & hope this year will be the same. Thank you in advance.
Again this year, gift filled shoeboxes will be accepted for “Samaritan’s Purse”. This is the 20th year
shoeboxes have been collected in St. Andrew’s & delivered to children who are affected by natural
disasters, poverty & conflict. Please consider participating in this gesture of Christian sharing and
love. It is a wonderful family activity! Refer to the brochure at the church entrance for details and a
label. Shoeboxes will be accepted 23/24 November, until NOON this Sunday, 24 November at
St. Andrew’s Church. More information, contact MaryAnn at 902-863-5522.

~ Schedule for Faith Formation Sessions ~ Grades 1 to 4 Heatherton Community Centre, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday, continuing
until 27 November. Classes resume at the same time & location for the months of April & May.
Grades 5, 6 and 7 Heatherton Community Centre from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.: Tuesdays on
3 and 17 December, 28 January, 26 February (Ash Wednesday services in churches), 3 and 24
March, 19 May and 9 June.
New this year: the CONFIRMATION PREPARATION CLASSES offered for students
in Grades 8 and up. Sessions will be held on Tuesdays, 7 to 9 p.m. at the St. Andrew’s School:
26 November, 10 December, 7 January, 4 and 18 February, 10 March, 12 and 26 May.
Immaculate Conception Parish Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Many thanks to all those who helped make our annual parish
bazaar a success. To those who made monetary donations, who contributed items for the dinner,
items for tickets, the bake table, the straw game, and the “new to you” table, thank you. A special
note of gratitude to the many volunteers who gave of their time to assist with the multitude of tasks
necessary to make the event successful. Although the bazaar is organized by the CWL, it is truly a
parish event, and the great support of the parishioners reflects the fact that we are truly a parish
family. Again, thank you to all who helped in any way.
A Remembrance Day pin was lost during the mission. The pin was stainless steel and it had the #11,

Diocesan News “Why Faith” is the title of our YOUTH RALLY this year for high school aged young people which will be held this Sunday, 24 November from
noon to 4:00 p.m. at St. Ninian’s Place in Antigonish. There is no charge and pizza will be served. Come and learn about your faith.
St. F. X. U. Alumni: The annual gathering of alumni of St. Francis Xavier University will take place 3 December at St. Theresa Parish Hall at
7:00 p.m. All alumni. spouses, and friends are invited and encouraged to attend. Mass to celebrate the feast day of St. Francis Xavier will be
followed by a short AGM. Of course, there will be something to eat and then door prizes will be drawn around 8:00 p.m.
In 2015 Pope Francis made us aware of the need to protect the environment in his encyclical “Laudato Si”. His message has stirred Development
& Peace to choose “For our Common Home” at its’ theme for the next two years. You can “Defend the Defenders” by signing a Solidarity Letter
addressed to two communities threatened by ‘mining and logging’ in Brazil or you may want to take the intergenerational pledge by visiting the D
& P website and choose your own personal commitment for taking better care of our Earth. Please don’t hesitate to consult the Action Sheet, the

Advent Pause: A 90 minute mini-retreat focusing on Eucharist to enjoy with your family, friends in ministry, committees/councils. This activity is
part of the lead up to the Diocesan Eucharistic Congress (June 12,13,14, 2020). Everything you need to host the retreat (leader's guide, handouts,

The Municipality of the County of Antigonish could like to invite residents to the Warden’s Tour in St. Andrews on Tuesday, 10 December at
7:00 p.m. The session will take place in the Seniors Room at the St. Andrew’s Community Centre. Join Warden McCarron for a meet and greet,
share ideas and connect with us.
Once again this year the Pomquet Parish Seniors Club will be hosting a Christmas Turkey Dinner for Pomquet Parish seniors (60 and up) on
Sunday, 1 December at 12:00 noon at the Rev. P. J. Baccardax Hall (upstairs). Tickets are $12.00 each and must be purchased by November

Pomquet Parish Seniors Christmas Baskets: For the past number of years, Pomquet Development Society members have been preparing and
delivering Christmas Baskets for the Seniors of our Parish who are over 80 years old. In order to avoid missing anyone, please contact Colette at
902-870-3051, and let her know the names of any of Seniors who have turned 80 in the last year or anyone we may have missed last year who
were 80 years of age or older . If you received a basket last year, there is no need to contact us. Thank you all!
The Pomquet SASC knitting group will be taking a break over the Christmas holidays. We will continue to meet on Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. until
12 December, which will be our last meeting of 2019, and will resume in the New Year on Thursday, 9 January. All are welcome to the group; no
