SOFTWARE DESCRIPTION

The Carrier Electronic Catalog Suite automatically installs all Carrier Electronic Catalog (E-CAT) programs using asingle installation file. This is an alternative to downloading and installing individual E-CAT programs one by one.

The November 1, 2013 Electronic Catalog Suite release automatically installs the following programs:

INSTALLATION PROCEDURES

Installation via Internet Download Download the ecat-cec20131101.exe file from the Internet site and save it in a folder on your hard disk. Note

that the download file is large and a fast internet connection is necessary to efficiently download this file. Run Windows Explorer and double-click on the ecat-cec20131101.exe file. This launches the program installer. Follow the installation instructions that appear on your screen. Note AutoDesk Volo View Express® must also be installed for certain E-CAT programs to function correctly.

AutoDesk Volo View Express® can be downloaded from the internet site.

Running the ProgramUse the following procedure to run the program: From the Windows desktop press Start, choose Programs and then choose Carrier E-CAT/E20-II programs. In the Carrier E-CAT/E20-II Programs group click Carrier Electronic Catalog v1.05L. From Electronic Catalog

you can run all other E-CAT programs.

Minimum Computer Requirements: Hard Disk Space: Up to 560 megabytes when installing software for the first time. The hard disk space

requirement is much smaller when updating existing versions of the software. Operating System: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8. Autodesk Volo View Express®

Note: Certain E-CAT programs require you to install the current version of Autodesk Volo View Express®programs. This program can be downloaded from the E-CAT download table on the internet site. Volo ViewExpress® (copyright Autodesk, Inc.) is freely distributed by Autodesk, Inc. as its drawing viewer. PREVIOUS VERSION INFORMATION

If your computer contains the prior versions of the Carrier E-CAT programs, the E-CAT Suite will automaticallyreplace the prior version when installed. As a result it is not necessary for you to uninstall the prior version beforeinstalling the E-CAT Suite. Exceptions only exist for a major version change or a new program and in that case theprior version can be uninstalled before or after installing the E-CAT Suite.

In the November 1 Customer Suite all releases are minor version updates.

NOTES

1. Release Sheets. Release sheets for individual Electronic Catalog programs are found in the "E-CAT ProductSelection Programs" down load table on the internet site. These sheets describe new program features.

X Builder Framework v1.05L replaces v1.05kThis program has been released to sales offices and will be released to customers on November 1.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

X Builder Framework provides common features for most Electronic Catalog and eDesign programs. It can also beused as a central launch portal for all Electronic Catalog software. The software appears as "Carrier ElectronicCatalog" on the Start/Programs Menu.

If you launch the X Builder Framework from the “Carrier Electronic Catalog” icon on the Start Menu you can makebest use of these common features. For example, you can configure any Tag in an existing ECAT Project simply bydouble-clicking the Tag on the Project tree, or create any kind of new Tag in the Project by clicking the New Tagbutton.

X Builder Framework v1.05L includes the following changes:• Revised the E-CAT Auto-Update feature. Streamlined the user interface to make it easier to use. Improved

operating reliability. Minimized warning messages. Updated the user manual. Further information on thisfeature can be found in the manual: LibrarianManual.docx in the \E20-II\Enviro\Library\Librarian\ folder.

• Updated support for the generation of Custom Guide Specs.


Installation via Internet DownloadTo perform a full program install, please use the following procedure: Download the ecat-xbf105l.exe file from the internet site and save it in a folder on your hard disk. Close any other programs running on your desktop computer. Run Windows Explorer and double-click on the ecat-xbf105l.exe file. This launches the program installer. Follow the installation instructions, which appear on your screen. After installation you may be asked to reboot.

Running the Program

Use the following procedure to run the program: From the Windows desktop press Start, choose Programs and then choose Carrier E-CAT/E20-II programs. In the Carrier E-CAT/E20-II Programs group click on the Carrier Electronic Catalog v1.05L icon.

Minimum Computer Requirements: Hard Disk Space: 30 megabytes. Operating System: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8.


1. X Builder Framework v1.05L automatically replaces v1.05k It is not necessary to uninstall v1.05k beforeinstalling v1.05L.

SPECIAL NOTES

1. Adobe Acrobat, AutoDesk VoloView. Certain X Builder Framework components depend on Adobe AcrobatReader and Autodesk Voloview or TrueView drawing viewer. These components are included in the CDinstalls, but may need to be downloaded and installed separately if you are installing from the internet and yourcomputer does not yet contain this software.

In addition, the following problems were corrected: The Exhaust/Economizer section of the Unit Report, incorrectly listed an exhaust fan type. For 48/50N size 105 with high capacity evaporator coil and standard unit efficiency, the HumidiMizer full

dehumidification performance ratings shown on the Performance Summary report were incorrect. On the Performance Summary report the A-Weighted Sound Pressure levels at a specified distance from the unita

were incorrect. Incorrect weight data for the N Series split unit were reported.

Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems (DOAS) Builder v1.04 resolves the following issues: For 62D and 62R units with the Digital Compressor option selected, an invalid part number was generated so the

unit could not be ordered.. Several of the component weight details were incorrect. The Firestat field installed option was not available on 62DA, 62DB, 62RA, and 62RB units. For 62R sizes 34 and 38 performance calculations failed. The Performance Report could not be generated.

Packaged RTU Builder v1.39 replaces v1.38.

UPDATE DESCRIPTION

Packaged RTU Builder v1.39 includes the following changes: Removed Powered Convenience Outlet as an option for 48/50LC (3 to 5 tons) for 460 V and 575 V applications. For the following units the duct cover accessory is automatically added in the selected accessory list: 48/50TC16,

48/50HC14, 48/50LC008, 48/50LC009, 48/50LC012.


Installation via Internet DownloadTo perform a full program install, please use the following procedure: Download the ecat-prb139.exe file from the Internet site and save it in a folder on your hard disk. Run Windows Explorer and double-click on the ecat-prb139.exe file. This launches the program installer. Follow the installation instructions which appear on your screen. Note: AutoDesk VoloView Express® and the latest X Builder Framework should be installed prior to installing

the Packaged RTU Builder. Both can be downloaded from the internet site.

Running the ProgramCarrier Electronic Catalog can be used to launch Packaged RTU Builder. To start Electronic Catalog: From the Windows desktop press Start, choose Programs and then choose Carrier E-CAT and E20-II programs. In the Carrier E-CAT and E20-II Programs group choose the Carrier Electronic Catalog item. From Electronic

AutoDesk VoloView Express® and the latest X Builder Framework should be installed before running this program.Both can be downloaded from the internet site. VoloView Express® (copyright Autodesk, Inc.) is freely distributedby AutoDesk Inc., as its drawing viewer. Any redistribution of VoloView Express® must be in compliance with theSoftware License Agreement which is displayed during the VoloView Express® installation.


1. Packaged RTU Builder v1.39 will replace v1.38 automatically. It is not necessary to uninstall v1.38 beforeinstalling v1.39.

2. Existing projects created with Packaged RTU Builder v1.38 can be used immediately in v1.39, but they willinitially contain only invalid tags. To quickly make all tags valid in the new version, highlight the project namein the projects tree on the left and then click the “Update All Tags” button at the bottom of the right hand pane.

SCU Builder v2.09z includes the following changes: Added 50BVJ 18-ton unit. Removed the “Compressor Sound Blanket” factory installed option from the 50XC models. Updated the Certified Drawings for all 50XC units. Updated Guide Specs for all 50BV models.


Installation via Internet DownloadTo perform a full install, please use the following procedure: Download the ecat-scu209z.exe file from the Internet site and save it in a folder on your hard disk. Run Windows Explorer and double-click on the ecat-scu209z.exe file. This launches the program installer. Follow the installation instructions which appear on your screen. Note that X Builder Framework should be installed prior to installing SCU Builder. It can be downloaded from

the internet site.

Running the ProgramUse the following procedure to run the program: From the Windows desktop press Start, choose Programs and then choose Carrier E-CAT/E20-II programs. In the Carrier E-CAT/E20-II Programs group choose Individual Product Builders. In the Individual Product Builders group click on the SCU Builder v2.09z item.

Minimum Computer Requirements: Hard Disk Space: Up to 50 megabytes Operating System: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8. The current X Builder Framework should be should be installed prior to installing the SCU Builder.


1. SCU Builder v2.09z will replace v2.09y automatically. It is not necessary to uninstall v2.09y before installingv2.09z.

2. Data created with v2.09y is immediately usable in SCU Builder v2.09z. There is no data conversion required.However, to make all your tags valid in v2.09z, highlight the Project name in the Projects tree and then click onthe button “Update and Recalculate all Tags”.

Unit Ventilator Builder v1.19e included changes that were relevant only for Carrier sales offices.


Installation via Internet DownloadTo perform a full install, please use the following procedure: Download the ecat-uvb119e.exe file from the Internet site and save it in a folder on your hard disk. Run Windows Explorer and double-click on the ecat-uvb119e.exe file. This launches the program installer. Follow the installation instructions which appear on your screen. Note: AutoDesk VoloView Express® and the current version of X Builder Framework should be installed prior

to installing the Unit Ventilator Builder. Both can be downloaded from the internet site.

Running the ProgramCarrier Electronic Catalog can be used to launch Unit Ventilator Builder. To start Electronic Catalog: From the Windows desktop press Start, choose Programs and then choose Carrier E-CAT and E20-II programs. In the Carrier E-CAT and E20-II Programs group choose the Carrier Electronic Catalog item. From Electronic

Catalog you can create new or edit existing fan coil tags via the Project tab, or you can directly launch theprogram via the Programs tab.

1. X-Builder Framework. The current version of XBuilder Framework should be installed before installing UnitVentilator Builder.

2. Adobe Acrobat. Adobe Acrobat Reader v4.05 or later is required to view certified drawings. If this softwarehas not yet been installed on your computer, download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader fromwww.adobe.com/products/acrobat and install it.

3. VoloView. VoloView v2000-129 or later is required to view template drawings from within Commercial SplitSystems Builder. If this software has not yet been installed on your computer, you can do so by runningWindows Explorer, navigating to the \VOLO_NEW folder on the E-CAT CD and then double-clicking on theVVE2SETUP.EXE file. Note that if you do not intend to view templates within Commercial Split SystemsBuilder, this software is not needed. Many users display template drawings using a CAD system such asAutoCAD instead.

WSHP Builder v5.09 includes the following changes: Removed two Electric Heat accessories. Removed North American warranties from the Export products.

In addition the following problem was corrected: Performance calculations for 50P1 size 024 with standard PSC fan, 3-phase power, and modulating reheat failed

and displayed the error message “Specified Electrical Service not available”.

Run Windows Explorer and double-click on the ecat-wsh509.exe file. This launches the program installer. Follow the installation instructions which appear on your screen. Note: AutoDesk VoloView Express® and the latest X Builder Framework should be installed prior to installing

the Water Source Heat Pump Builder. Both can be downloaded from the internet site.

Running the Program

Use the following procedure to run the program: From the Windows desktop press Start, choose Programs and then choose Carrier E-CAT/E20-II Programs. In the Carrier E-CAT/E20-II Programs group click on the Individual Product Builders icon. In the Individual Product Builders group click on the WSHP Builder v5.09 icon.

Minimum Computer Requirements: Hard Disk Space: 20 megabytes Operating System: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8. The current X Builder Framework should be installed prior to installing WSHP Builder.
