PRESENTATION DAY Our annual Presentation Day was held yesterday to recognise the excellent year that we have had at Merewether Heights Public School. It was a great pleasure to see our award winners being recognised in front of their teachers, peers and the wider school community. Many thanks to Ms Napper, teachers and our office staff for all of the work they did to ensure Presentation Day was a success; also to our presenters and family and friends of the school for attending. SCHOOL LEADERS We also announced our school leaders for 2017 and presented them with their badges. My sincere congratulations go to our 2017 school leaders and I look forward to their contribution to our school next year. Captains: Ava K & Cohen H Vice Captains: Olivia M & Linus D HAPPY HOLIDAYS I wish all of our students and families the best for a safe and happy holiday break and I look forward to seeing everyone’s smiling faces in 2017. Students in Years 1 –6 resume school on Monday 30th January. Kindergarten students have their Best Start appointments Monday to Wednesday, then all Kindy commence class on Thursday 2nd February. Important Anaphylaxis Notice We have students who are at risk of severe allergic reaction to some food items. This condition is potentially life threatening. Please do not send nut-based products to school with your child’s recess or lunch. Products include peanut butter, Nutella, sesame seed, loose nuts, muesli, nut or chocolate bars.

LOST PROPERTY All items of clothing, uniforms, bags and lunch boxes will be disposed of on Friday 16th December.

2017 ORGANISATION Organisation has commenced for classes for the 2017 school year. If you know of any child who will not be attending our school next year please advise the school as soon as possible. We have a number of people enquiring about vacancies for 2017 and your early advice would be greatly appreciated. PAYMENTS An online payment system is now available for parents. Payments to the school office can now be made by cash, cheque, Eftpos using Visa/Mastercard and POP (Parent Online Payment). Please note: Payments for clothing pool, canteen, band etc. CAN NOT be made using Online Payment. Please contact the school office if you are unsure what payments can be made online.

MOSQUITOES At the moment mosquitos are quite prevalent within our

school grounds. It is recommended that students apply

insect repellent prior to coming to school.

THE SAMARITANS CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE Thank you to all who have supported this charity. The response was wonderful. Your generosity will help make a happy day for many children.
