Hostage
• Use of dark red colour in background of city and in titles , making viewer relate to blood from the start.
• Use’s of police and news crew characters to establish setting and events. Also shows a sniper team on roof that says the events are on-going.
• Presented in a comic book style of opening, may relate to hero and villain format.
• Brings the viewer in directly through the phone line for direct involvement, and empathy with character. Shot broadens out to show what had been seen in the titles, bringing out all of the tension at once that had been built through the titles.

Ginger Snaps
• Shot of girl at the foot of a bed with ‘dead’ girl, followed by montage of staged murders featuring the pair of girls.
• The scenes become more sadistic with notes that imply motives etc. all give the impression that although it is all staged the two girls are still mentally disturbed to come up with and stage the images and idea’s.
