The Bishops of the United States use October as the month to count those who attend mass. The account is used in planning for the future. This year St. Kieran had an October Count of 440. This was down from 485 last year. Evangelization calls us to invite and bring oth- ers to Christ, so let’s make invitation part of our lives. Thanks to the ushers for your help with the count. Thanks to everyone who braved the weather for our Trunk or Treat celebration this past week. I think the weather played a nasty trick on us all. That's okay, we celebrated anyway. RITE OF REMEMBRANCE

God, our creator and redeemer, by your power Christ conquered death and returned to you in glory.

May all your people who have gone before us in faith share His victory and enjoy the vision of your glory forever.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever...Amen.

- Prayer from All Souls Day Mass

On Saturday, November 2nd our parish will gather for a 7 p.m. Mass and celebrate All Souls’ Day - remembering in our prayer and ritual all those for whom we have prayed at their Funeral Liturgies this past year and all who have died. As we have in the past, everyone is invited to bring a picture of a friend or family member who has died and place it within our ‘shrine of our beloved’ which will remain present in our Church for the entire month of November. Perhaps as you make your picture selection, you can share stories about the person who has died with the children and younger members of your family.

As we remember the virtue of the lives of the people who have shared themselves with us, we know that this goodness is holy; we know that this bond of love has not simply ended with their death but remains so present with us that we can just reach out and touch the memory of their caring when we are afraid, when we are unsure, when we need encouragement to do right - and we will continue to do so, knowing that love is eternal. May God bless you and keep you and those that you love strong until we are able to be reunited with our beloved dead and share forever the joy of His kingdom.

An Opportunity to Help

There are three teams of parish-ioners who help clean the

church. Once every six weeks, for 2-3 hours, a team spends time vacuuming and dusting the church and washing the windows. We need your help. For various reasons, some of our members have become unable to continue in this effort. Can you make the time to become part of this group? If so, please call Roe at 708 758-5404. Thank you.

HONORING ALL WHO SERVED This Veterans day, St Kieran would like to acknowledge those parishioners past and present who served their country in the Armed Forces. Please fill out this form and return it to the Rectory Office no later than Monday, November 4. Form can be send by mail, with the Sunday first collection, or via email to [email protected]

Flowers are delivered every Thursday to decorate the Holy Family Shrine in the back of our church. Flower arrangements are ordered and delivered by Eighner's Florist in Homewood. Cost per flower arrangement is $25, which is our cost; checks should be made payable to “St. Kieran Catholic Church.” Orders and remittance may be placed in the weekly collection basket, mailed to the Rectory Office or dropped off at the Rectory Office. You will receive a confirmation of your order. We would like to extend our thanks to all of our parishioners for helping to decorate the Shrine on a weekly basis. I WOULD LIKE TO ORDER A FLOWER ARRANGEMENT FOR THE HOLY FAMILY SHRINE FOR THE FOLLOWING: (1) ___________________________________ NAME OF PERSON OR EVENT _________________________________ FIRST DATE CHOICE ________________________________ SECOND DATE CHOICE (2) __________________________________ NAME OF PERSON OR EVENT _________________________________ FIRST DATE CHOICE _________________________________ SECOND DATE CHOICE

All donations from October 6th Coffee Shop went towards defraying the cost of future Welcome Retreats. The event was such a great turn out. Thanks to all the additional volunteers and parish-ioners that donated food, and everyone that reach out & invited friends/family to the event - that's what made it such a success.
