Mission Statement

North Tahoe School is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and responsible environment where all students achieve academic success through continual effort and growth. The committed work of our school community will result in all students being college and/or career ready for the 21st Century and prepared to be thoughtful and productive citizens.

Learning

Core Instruction: English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Math

Physical Education: California State Law: 200 minutes every 10 days for Fifth and Sixth Grade. 400 minutes every 10 days for Seventh and Eighth Grade.

5th Grade Elective Wheel: Art, STEM, Music

6/7/8th Grade: Art, Tech, Band

Support: 5th and 6th grade: Extension Period: Extend or Support Core Instruction and Enrichment Period to provide Intervention OR Project Based Learning.

Support: 7th and 8th grade: Enrichment Period: Provide Literacy and Language Learning considering needs of all students.

Standards Grading

Why Standards Grading?

We want to improve student achievement for all students in every classroom every day; and research supports standards grading as a basis of communication that helps students learn more effectively through better feedback. We also use standards grading to develop a common language and understanding among students, parents and teachers around the priority learning standards.

Honor Roll and Distinguished Scholar Awards

All students receiving 3’s or higher in all classes will be a Honor Roll student. All students receiving 3’s or higher in all classes as well as 4’s in two out of four core content areas (social studies, science, ELA, math) will be a Distinguished Scholar.
