TSR Showing Finals – This show is a qualifier for the 2018 TSR Riders/In Hand Showing Finals in Classes 2,3,7,8,10-16,25-27,43-48.

1 st and 2 nd riders qualify and will receive a qualification card in the ring. The two highest placed handlers with a TSR In Hand card will qualify in any In Hand class .Handlers MUST have their cards signed in the

ring by the judge –it is the handlers responsibility to have a card. Cards are available from the TSR website

THURSDAY 19th APRILAll Hunter/Sport Horse classes will be judged under the Society’s rules and SHB (GB) requires all entries in the Hunter classes to be registered and all owners and riders to be current members. Classes 1, 4-9 are qualifying events for RIHS 2018. The two highest placed horses in classes 1, 4-6 will qualify. No horse lower than second in its class will qualify. The three highest placed horses in Classes 9 will qualify. No horse lower than third in its class will qualify. In Classes 7 & 8 - the two highest placed Smalls and the two highest placed Lightweights will qualify and in the Heavyweight section the two highest placed Middleweights and the two highest placed Heavyweights will qualify. Judges must place all horses to determine qualifiers. It is strongly recommended that competitors aged 18 or over wear Correctly secured Skull Caps/Riding Hats that meet one of the current Safety Standards: All PAS 015;VG1;ASTM F1163 04a onwards; SNELL E2001; AS/NZS 3838 2003 onwards. It is mandatory for competitors under the age of 18 to wear skull caps or hats. In the jumping phase of working hunter and ridden sport horse classes, the aforementioned skull caps/riding hats must be worn.Only horses on the 2018 Show Hunter Register are eligible to enter. Registration numbers must be quoted on the entry forms and owners and riders must be full members of the society. Day tickets = £35 (this entitles competitors to compete at a maximum of 2 shows in the year- it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration for that show). If the class is a RIHS qualifier, in order for the qualification to be valid, application for full owner/rider membership and horse registration must be received by SHB GB within 14 days.Horses in classes 2, 3, 10-16 are only required to be registered on the basic identity record or Stud Book of the Society. Any exhibit found not to be correctly registered will be disqualified. No Horse may be entered in a Ridden Hunter, Working Show Horse class or Riding Horse class at the same show. This does not apply to Working Hunter and Ridden Sport Horse classes.

S.H.B.(G.B) in the North West – Ridden Points Competition.

The following classes at the show: WORKING HUNTER; RIDDEN SPORT HORSE; RIDDEN HUNTER, are included in the S.H.B.(G.B) in the North West Ridden Points Competition. Points will be awarded to 1st - 4th places in each class. Horses can compete in any of the above classes. An award will be made to the horse attaining the highest number of points overall. PONIES ASSOCIATION (UK) – The 1st, 2nd & 3 rd placed competitors will qualify for 2019 Annual National Championship at the P (UK) Spring Classic, Equifest 2018 & BSPA 2018.

Qualification will not pass down the line. At the Final to be held at the SHB(GB) National Hunter Supreme Championship Show, the highest placed 4 & 5 year old will each receive £1000.

At the Championship, 4 & 5 year olds will be judged separately.

AMATEUR STATUS: A person is an amateur for showing purposes when showing ridden hunters in an amateur class if he or she does not:a) Engage in livery, buying, selling, dealing or hiring horses as a means of deriving a main source of

income since 1st January 2016.b) Accept remuneration whether it be monetary or goods in kind for employment in connection with

horses in a racing, showing, livery stable or riding school. (Instruction at Pony Club or Riding Club excepted) since 1st January 2016.

c) Show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm or a horse for which his or her immediate family accepts livery or training charges from a person outside the immediate concern since 1st January 2016.

d) Show a horse which a professional rider has ridden in any ridden hunter or sport horse class during the current year, with the exception of Working Hunter & Ladies Hunter classes

unless the horse has subsequently reregistered under new ownership.e) Professional show persons must not enter the Amateur Ring whilst the classes are in progress. A

professional show person is another term for a professional producer and as such a professional groom who works for a producer can enter the ring to groom.

f) A professional rider must not ride or exercise an amateur’s horse on the day it is competing in amateur classes.

g) Amateur Home Produced – Horses which are either stabled at home or in a DIY yard and which since 1st January have not been shown by a professional during the current season or stabled in a professional yard at any time in 2018. Must be ridden by an Amateur. This does not exclude the Amateur Owner Home Produced riders having lessons at any time with an instructor, providing the horse remains stabled at home or in a DIY yard.

AMATEUR RIDERS CHAMPIONSHIP(First and second prize winners from classes 7,8)

WORKING HUNTER CLASSES Course Builder: Janet BirchWorking Hunter courses are not to be walked by competitors until the judge has given permission. There will be a change of course between the Open, Restricted Open and Novice Working Hunter classes. Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Show jumper or Advanced Event Horse as at 1st January 2017 is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter Classes. THE MAXIMUM TOTAL POINTS AVAILABLE IS 100- THIS IS MADE UP OF: JUMPING POINTS = MAX 40 POINTS. STYLE & PRESENCE WHILST JUMPING = MAX 20 POINTS. RIDE = MAX 20 POINTS. CONFORMATION= 20 POINTS. Horses with minus scores may not be required for the second phase of the class at the discretion of the judge. Under no circumstances should a horse with a minus score be in a qualification position. Fences to be a minimum of eight and a maximum of twelve in number. Open class maximum height 3'9" (1.14m).Novice class- min height 2’9”(0.85m) max 3’3”(1m). Amateur and Restricted classes- max height 3’6” (1.07 m) at the discretion of the judges. Working Hunters may compete hors concours in novice and restricted working hunter classes, in the jumping phase only, at the discretion of the show secretary, BUT the horse cannot compete in any working hunter class for the duration of the show. All obstacles are numbered. Fences should have a natural presence and not be easily dislodged .The manner of going to be taken into account. No change of rider or tack will be allowed (unless a horse is ridden side saddle, in which cases in order to allow the judge to ride, the saddle may be changed for the riding phase only). Horses may be equipped with boots of a plain colour in the jumping phase only, rigid or weighted boots are not allowed. No hind boots or bandages of any

description are allowed in the collecting ring, warm up or in the actual class. On completion of the jumping phase ALL CLEAR ROUNDS and any other horses the judges may require, should be asked to return to the ring. If a horse positively stops or turns its quarters to a fence or has a complete turnaround, these constitute refusals. If a horse jumps the incorrect fence out of a pen or lane it will be eliminated. Horses displaying continued disobedience or horses leaving the ring whether mounted or dismounted will be eliminated. In the event of a horse falling during a class that horse will be asked to leave the ring and will not be allowed to compete further in that class.

Exhibitors will be allowed to compete two horses in a Working Hunter Class but following the jumping phase it will be up to the exhibitor to select ONLY ONE horse to take forward into the ridden and conformation section if required.

WORKING HUNTER CHAMPIONSHIP(First and second prize winners from classes 9,10,11,12)

RIDDEN SPORT HORSE CLASSESAny Rider can present up to three horses in each class. Horses will enter the ring individually and will give a short ridden display of walk, trot and canter of approx 1 minute – worth 50 marks. Then proceed straight into the jumping phase. The first fence may be jumped as a practice fence. Each jumping effort will be marked out of 10 at the judge’s discretion. There is no set penalty for a pole down or a run out. However three refusals or a fall of horse or rider will result in elimination. The jumping course will be a mixture of coloured/rustic obstacles and is designed to produce eight jumping efforts (including a double)

in total - worth 80 marks. All horses, unless eliminated will be required to return without saddles for conformation assessment worth 50 marks. Hind Boots are not allowed.

Animals must be registered in the AHS, Anglo and Part Bred Arab stud book and registration numbers must be declared and a copy of the registration papers must be forwarded when entering. Owners must be a BSPS Adult Member. Riders under 18 on the 1st January 2018 must be a BSPS Junior Member and riders 19 years and over on 1st January 2018 must be a BSPS Adult Member. Class 18 is a qualifier for RIHS 2018. Only one animal in Classes 18 will qualify. The highest placed animal not already qualified from the first three animals in these classes will qualify. Any suitable bridles may be worn and spurs may be worn in Class 18 by riders 16 years old or over.

Marking: 50% performance/ride; 50% conformation, type and freedom of action.

(NB Class 75 – for Ridden Anglo and Part Breds not exceeding 148cms - takes place on Saturday at 8am in Ring 3.)

mare, stallion or gelding 4 years old and over exceeding 148cms. Rider any age. To be judged as a riding horse class. Each exhibit will give an individual show and will not be ridden by the judge.

Entry Fee: £38BSHA CLASSESClasses 18,19,23,24 ,28,29,31 are qualifying classes for RIHS 2018. The first prize winner will qualify to compete at the final. If already qualified, the second will qualify. If the first and second are already qualified then the third will go forward.

Held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. Horses must be registered with the Association and all owners, exhibitors and riders must be Association Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry forms.Non Members may purchase up to a maximum of two ‘Day Tickets’ per exhibitor, per horse, per season. A Day Ticket will allow entry into Novice and Amateur Classes only but will not allow entry into RIHS qualifying classes. Horses registered on a Day Ticket do not require a JMB Height certificate. Competitors can purchase a Day Ticket by downloading an application form, or apply online on the BSHA website –www.britishshowhorse.org Horses competing at the RIHS and qualifying shows in Hunter sections of SHB(GB)at their Affiliated shows cannot compete in Hack, Cob and Riding Horse classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. Any exhibitor placed in the first three in classes 55-57 may enter the ‘RISING STARS’ classes at the National Championship Show, September 2018 at Addington. No qualifying card required.

The BSHA offers a Novice, Young Rider and Amateur rosette in each Open class and a Champion rosette for each section (with the exception of Open Working Show Horse, Ladies Show Horse and HOYS Hunter classes). The Association will award an Amateur Home Produced rosette in all Affiliated Open Cob ( LW & HW) classes; these rosettes have been kindly donated by TSG, Mr L Turley. The awards will go down the line; there is no limit on how many of these can be claimed in a year.

AMATEUR CLASSESAMATEUR STATUS: A person is an amateur for the purposes of classes run under Association Rules if he /she does not, during the current or previous season:

(i)Engage in breeding, livery, buying, selling, dealing or hiring horses in a commercial capacity.(ii)Received remuneration for employment in connection with horses in racing, showing, livery stable or riding school (instruction at Pony Club or Riding Club excepted). This does not include the suppliers of ancillary services such as farriers and vets. (iii)Own/Part own an equestrian establishment including but not limited to riding schools, events centre, stud or livery yard in any capacity, or receive any form of remuneration for employment at an equestrian establishment. For the avoidance of doubt for the purpose of this rule, immediate family members of an owner or part owner of an equestrian establishment who work or are howsoever otherwise engaged or involved in any capacity, whether or not for remuneration at the equestrian establishment, will be treated as being an owner of that equestrian establishment.(iv) Show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm, or act as Brand Manager in any showing classes, BSHA or otherwise, or a Horse for which his/her immediate family accepts livery or training charges from a person outside the immediate family concerned.(v)A competitor is not eligible to compete in amateur classes on an Exhibit which has been ridden by a Professional Rider in any Open classes, BSHA or otherwise, with the exception of Open Working Show Horse and Side Saddle classes, during the current year and the following year, up to but not including RIHS, unless the horse has subsequently been re registered under new Ownership.On the day when an Exhibit is competing in an Amateur class, Professionals are not allowed to ride or work in the relevant animal. Once you have qualified at a First Round Qualifier and you have received an Acceptance card, only then may you compete in the Olympia Anthony Evans SSADL Second Round Qualifiers. The Second Round Champions will go on to compete at the Olympia Anthony Evans SSADL Final at the London International Horse Show in December 2018. Once a competitor has qualified for the Olympia Grand Final they may continue to compete at any 2nd Round qualifiers, but they will NOT be eligible to enter the Olympia Qualifying Championships. In this instance the second laced competitor will be eligible for this championship. Once a competitor has qualified for Olympia in the Ridden section they are NOT allowed to qualify in the In Hand section and vice versa.

When approaching the end of the M57, keep looking for signs A5758. At traffic lights there are 5 lanes, the 2 left hand lanes will take you towards Aintree. To access the A5758 you need to be in the third lane to continue straight on to the new link road which

will take you to the A565. Follow the A565 for approx 4 miles.
