As a company dancer with Carla & Company she toured the north-east performing repertory from a variety of nationally recognized contemporary choreographers. While in DC she also danced with the post-modern based company Dance Antonini, which performed in the National Improvisation Festival and various site-specific works. More recently she has danced with Fuzion Dance Artists, Repertory Dance Theater at Florida State University, and Mary Love Dance Projects (MLDP) a research based company she also directs. With MLDP she has toured the east coast and appeared in a broadcast Ted (X) production. She has had the honor to perform a diverse body of historic and contemporary choreographic works including dances by Isadora Duncan, Marius Petipa, Lynda Davis, Alan Danielson, Liz Lerman, Helenius Wilkins, Nellie Rainwater, Amy Marshall, Sandra Neels, among others. Ms. Ward’s choreography has been presented nationally and abroad in The Florida Dance Festival, West Fest Dance Festival (NYC), NewGrounds (FL), The DUMBO Dance Festival (NYC), CoolNY Dance Festival, DC Art-O-Matic, The South Carolina Dance Festival, Atlanta Blabbermouth Dance Festival, The Shift Orlando, The Gateway Center for the Arts (FL), and internationally in the Dominican Republic. She has also been commissioned to set work at Darton College, Daytona State College, and the pre-professional program at The Center for Contemporary Dance, where she is the recipient of an artistic residency. Ms. Ward holds an MFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from Florida State University, a BS in Biology with a minor degree in dance from Winthrop University, and is a certified Pilates trainer through the Physical Mind Institute. She has taught dance at Valencia College, Florida State University, and frequently serves as a guest instructor for various dance intensives and conferences. She is the professor of contemporary dance at Florida School of the Arts. Jessica Mayhew, originally from Miami, FL, is a graduate of the arts program at Coral Reef Senior High. She attend Santa Fe College as a recipient of a talent scholarship and became a member of the performing company Dance Theatre of Santa Fe (DTSF), working closely with artist in residence, Alberto Alonso of the National Ballet of Cuba. She was featured in many of his ballets and appeared in the documentary film “Dance of my Heart,” which followed Mr. Alonso’s professional career. Jessica made her professional debut with Florida Dance Theatre of Lakeland, FL before finishing her undergraduate degree at the University of Florida in Criminology and Law. She holds an MFA from Florida State University in Dance Performance and Choreography. While at FSU she performed with Dance Repertory Theatre and in works by José Limón, Gerri Houlihan, Michael Foley, Alan Danielson, Andrew Noble, Tim Glenn and Lynda Davis to name a few. After receiving her MFA Jessica continued to dance professionally with Surfscape Contemporary Dance Theatre in New Smyrna, FL. She has had her choreography presented internationally in Kazakhstan as a collaboration with Peter Kalivas and the PGK Project of San Diego. Nationally, Jessica’s work has been presented at the DUMBO White Wave Festival and the Dance Gallery Festival in NYC, the Alabama Dance Festival, American College Dance Association, Florida Dance Festival, NewGrounds Festival, and the Ringling International Arts Festival. Jessica was also commissioned to set work for The Tallahassee Ballet and a MFA thesis concert at Florida State. Jessica has served as a dance staff member at Florida State University, Santa Fe College where she was also director of the student dance company, Dance Theater of Santa Fe. Jessica is the professor of ballet at Florida School of the Arts. Jenne Vermes is a professor of tap dance at both the University of Florida and Florida School of the Arts.
