of would-be closers gave futile chase after straightening for home.

Onus, the 2-1 favorite, and Partisan Poli-tics, the 3-1 second choice, were among a group that swung wide at the quarter pole, but neither had any kick when finishing ninth and fifth. Only Rainha Da Bateria, who had weaved her way through rivals down the stretch under Robby Albarado, kept the race from being a stunning blowout.

Isabella Sings returned $56.60 to win after finishing in 1:44.74 over a course rated good. She is the second-longest-priced winner in the 25-year history of the race, after Caught in the Rain (32-1) in 2002.

Isabella Sings, bred and owned by Siena Farm, is a Kentucky-bred by Eskendereya. The victory was her fourth from 11 career starts and her first in a graded race, with the $112,840 winner’s share lifting her earnings to $303,950. In her two preceding starts, she had finished second by a head in the Grade 3 Boiling Springs in September and a tired fourth in the Pebbles Stakes behind Partisan Politics and Devine Aida in October.

Miss Mischief staked her claim for the Sovereign Award as this year’s Canadian champion female sprinter with a handy score in the Grade 2 Bessarabian Stakes on Nov. 15 at Woodbine.

The longshot Paddle Board dueled with Skylander Girl and then Endless Light through moderate fractions in the seven-furlong sprint, as Miss Mischief stalked three wide on the turn.

Miss Mischief swept to the lead at the eighth pole, and then coasted home on top by 2 1/4 lengths, in a quick 1:21.72. Paddle Board held off Elusive Collection for third, while the 5-2 favorite, Marbre Rose, trailed the seven-horse field.

It was the fourth winner on the card for leading rider Eurico Da Silva, who got a leg up from trainer Dale Capuano on the Mary-land shipper.

“Mr. Capuano told me to give her a clear trip on the outside,” said Da Silva. “I tried to do that. She was keen, and [fell] into the race pretty good. I just waited to turn her loose. She fought very hard.”

Miss Mischief ($12.90) earned $120,000 for owner Diane Manning.

The minimum number of Canadian starts to qualify for a Sovereign Award is three, and Miss Mischief fits the bill. In the spring, she finished second in the Grade 3 Hendrie Stakes, before ending up third in the Trillium Stakes.

Stepping up into a stakes race for the first time, Mr Maybe ran by the leaders in the stretch like they were standing still to win the Grade 3, $250,000 Red Smith Hand-icap on Nov. 14 at Aqueduct by better than four lengths under confident handling from Irad Ortiz Jr.

Despite trailing for nearly a mile behind War Dancer’s dawdling pace of 26.07 seconds, 51.31, 1:16.94, and 1:41.34, Mr Maybe began picking up horses while widest around the third and final turn. He caught War Dancer with a furlong remaining, and drew out with every stride to win the final graded turf stakes of the year in New York by 4 1/4 lengths. Kaigun and Holiday Star were along late to finish second and third, as War Dancer faded to fourth. Mr Speaker prompted the pace to the stretch and weakened to fifth as the 122-pound top weight.

“They told me he’s the kind of horse you don’t push too much and just to save ground,” Ortiz said. “So I broke out of there and tried to save ground the whole way. By the half-mile pole, I knew they were going a little slow, so I had to move. I went a little wide but I had horse, and when I asked him, he just took off.”

Purchased following a first-level allow-ance win at Parx Racing in late August, and given to Chad Brown, Mr Maybe won his secondary allowance condition at Belmont. He left little doubt as to who was best in his stakes debut, and returned $6.80 to win as the favorite in the field of eight.

Mr Maybe ran 1 3/8 miles in 2:17.49 on a good-to-firm turf course, and carried 115 pounds.

“We knew he was sitting on a really good race, but how easily he won surprised me,” said Brown, whose horses dominated the fall turf stakes on the circuit. “He’s a horse that has a lot of talent. We thought there was some room for improvement and he’s taken to our program nicely. My staff has really enjoyed working with the horse – he’s a big teddy bear – and he’s only getting better.”

Todd Pletcher has kept Tommy Macho in graded stakes company since he won a first-level allowance race in June. On Nov. 11, Tommy Macho broke through, pulling away impressively over the sloppy footing of the Aqueduct stretch to win the Grade 3 Discovery Handicap by 4 1/4 lengths.

Madefromlucky finished second in the $150,000 Discovery, completing a Pletcher exacta. This was Pletcher’s sixth win in the Discovery since 1998. He won the 1 1/8-mile race in the slop last year with Protonico.

“He’s trained well and he runs well fresh,” Pletcher said of Tommy Macho, who last raced in the Sept. 19 Pennsylva-nia Derby. “We’ve been targeting this race with him for quite some time. We didn’t mind the track either. He has a big wet-track pedigree.”

Tommy Macho, a son of Macho Uno and the Awesome Again mare Starstream, moved up soon after the start to press the pace outside Ocean Knight, who had appeared to hold a pace advantage in the

Discovery. Tommy Macho took over from Ocean Knight entering the stretch and drew off.

Pletcher said he didn’t want Ocean Knight to get an easy lead, and spoke with jockey Javier Castellano about keeping the pressure on.

“I told Javier that we can’t let Ocean Knight steal this,” Pletcher said.

When the horses broke from the gate, the lead strap of Tommy Macho’s assistant starter got caught in Castellano’s boot and he rode the entire race with the strap dangling beneath him.

Madefromlucky saved ground along the inside in the three-horse flight of runners just off Ocean Knight and Tommy Macho. He finished willingly for second.

Tommy Macho paid $9.30 as the third betting choice in the seven-horse field. He was timed in 1:51.67 following splits of 24.25 seconds, 49.45, 1:14.63, and 1:39.05. Speed fared well over the sloppy Aqueduct track during the Wednesday card.

Ocean Knight finished third, a length behind Madefromlucky. It was two lengths farther back to Smart Transition, who raced three wide in the second flight to the stretch.

Pletcher’s third horse in the race, First Spark, finished fifth. Made in Detroit, who raced between horses in the second flight early, was sixth.

Tommy Macho is now 3 for 7 with earn-ings of $363,050. Since his June allowance win, he had finished fourth in the Grade 3 Dwyer to Speightster; seventh in the West Virginia Derby while racing over the deeper inside part of the track; and third in the Pennsylvania Derby to Frosted and Iron Fist.

Tommy Macho races for Paul Pompa Jr. and All American Horses LLC.

Toews On Ice had won his two prior starts in easy fashion, but when tested on Nov. 14 in the Grade 3, $100,500 Bob Hope Stakes for 2-year-olds at Del Mar, he showed the grit and determination of his namesake, three-time Stanley Cup champ Jonathan Toews, and re-rallied for the victory, his third straight.

No hats were thrown onto the track for this hat trick, but Toews On Ice might have at the least earned himself a shot at bigger and better opportunities down the line. A start in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Futurity next month could be next.

Toews On Ice ($3.80) dueled with Mac Daddy Mac for the first six furlongs of the seven-furlong race, and even lost the lead at midstretch, but he came back on to win by 1 1/4 lengths under Martin Garcia, who cleverly angled Toews On Ice right along-

side Mac Daddy Mac in the stretch.“He started fighting,” Garcia said.“I got a little worried when he got

headed,” said Jim Barnes, the top assis-tant to trainer Bob Baffert, “but he did respond.”

Baffert was not at the race. He was being honored Saturday night in Tucson by his alma mater, the University of Arizona, at its football game against Utah.

Mac Daddy Mac, making only the second start of his career, ran his heart out before settling for second, but was 3 1/4 lengths clear of third-place I’malreadythere. Dr. Dorr rallied for fourth after a bad start.

Toews On Ice covered seven furlongs on the fast main track in 1:22.27. He has now won three times in five starts, all in stakes, at three different tracks. He won the Barretts Juvenile at Los Alamitos in September and the Speakeasy at Santa Anita in October.

Toews On Ice is owned by Mike Pegram, Karl Watson, and Paul Weitman, who purchased the colt by Archarcharch for $140,000 as a yearling at Keeneland in September 2014. He has earned $175,200.
