A North American beauty and cosmetics company with a brand that is socially and environmentally conscious
was looking to bring the same humanism and thoughtfulness to their marketing. They looked to AgilOne to help
them better understand their customers, deliver relevant content rather than the typical batch and blasts, and
deliver a consistent brand experience through every online touch-point with the customer.
The challengesThe company has hundreds of stores in the US and Canada. They were looking to personalize their
communications to their hundreds of thousands of customers and ensure that every online interaction between
the brand and a customer is consistent with the human-focused messaging. Specifically they were looking to:
• Access and analyze the massive amounts of customer data available to better understand their customer’s
preferences and needs
• Increase retention and customer satisfaction by sending more relevant communications that take into
account customer’s product preferences and past purchases
• Provide better service to customers by sending out reminders at the right time to re-order a specific
products
• Establish a VIP program by recognizing and rewarding high value customers
• Shift their mindset from being discount-driven to improving customer service and satisfaction with more
strategic, personalized offers
AgilOne SolutionRepeat Purchase Program
Using AgilOne, the company was able to implement replenishment reminders for several of their products.
Using past-purchase information they were able to send customers a personalized reminder to repurchase their
product at the right time.
Customer Reactivation Program
With the data collected, cleansed and organized by AgilOne, the company was able to initiate a customer
reactivation program; sending personalized highly targeted campaigns to customers who haven’t engaged with
the brand in a while.
Cluster-Based Targeting
AgilOne helped the company find descriptive clusters- or groups of similar customers - to help them better
understand their customer base. For example, they found people who have an interest in skincare products
verses those who tend to buy in only makeup. They were also able to identify who their high value customers
were and begin implementing VIP programs to reward these loyal patrons.
Targeted Facebook Advertising
The company took AgilOne’s data a step further and applied it to their Facebook advertising campaigns. They
used their product-based clusters created by AgilOne to launch specific look-a-like advertising campaigns on
Facebook. These campaigns delivered between two and ten times return, when comparing revenues generated
to the investment made in Facebook ads.
Results• Revenue per email increased 6 times using AgilOne’s targeted emails
• Email click through rates tripled signaling strong customer approval of the new, personalized campaigns
• Using data-driven Facebook advertising campaigns the company saw a return on advertising investment of
up to 10 times
