Why Write This Guide.
The Ultimate Guide For The Blab.IM DropIn
Feature was developed over twentytwo days in March 2016 and costs
$1USD. Our mission and intention is to keep the guide as a living document. We understand users are anxious to have a
completed guide of some
sort in front of them while exploring this newest feature on blab and several users have published their own
versions whom are also contributors to this Guide. Who Is The Guide For. This guide is written for those who desire to take their live stream outreach and creative skills to the
next level. People who look upon learning how best to use their voice in today’s world of marketing,
exploration, and the sharing of stories as
important. How Your Dollar Will
Work. The Guide is delivered to you when your donation of
One Dollar to Charity
Water is made. Simply send us your receipt & eMail address. See the

contributor. We seek to document your findings, experience and ultimate tips. Once we are in delivery mode of the Guide, there will be no reason or excuse for you to be unhappy or not in receipt of what is being
promised. Not one person.
March 4th 2016 during a Friday eve on Blab we were delivered a feature. Simply called DropIn.
Josh Lankford, an engineer of team Blab turned on the DropIn in an event we were hosting. The instruction from team Blab was simple. We got a picture and some words about spicing up your blab. Immediately a crew of us spent a few hours running through sites, formats and best use production steps.
All using DropIn. This series of events, which would truly stretch our creativity to maximum levels, even so for today. In fact, growing and nurturing good ideas, then manifesting them quickly is the Blab way and our best advice while reading “The Ultimate Guide To The
blab.im DropIn” is to get involved as a beta tester. In this edition of the Guide we use social channels that are well known and where marked, products featured in popular growing sites such as Product Hunt, Launch Ticker and iTrendTV.
“DropIn” Basics Single Quad Square and
Widescreen
Note : On March 15th through the 16th high definition video widescreen aspect ratio, commonly known as 16:9, DropIn was given to all users.
NOW LET’S GET YOU STARTED. 1. Pick a YOUTUBE video such as a crackling fire, here is an example you can use https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6w_DKc3xM OR 2. A view from the LIVE Space Station in high
definition, and here is an example to use. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njCDZWTIxg Gaze on the stunning results right inside your blab event. Find more 16:9 examples by following the green text. 3. Now Proceed with Some Caution because when answering
questions, using the slash command “Q,” you will override your current DropIn ENTIRELY. 4. Next let’s get you working with the quad. It is called a quad because blab is set up in four (4) quadrants or squares for participants, for questions or
declaratives up to 135 characters and now the DropIn feature. 5. Pick a podcast link such as a favorite broadcaster you listen to daily, here is an example using iTunes. 6. iTunes displays all the great cover art we love and here is a good example
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/pnrthisoldmarketingcontent/id760760485?mt=2&ref=blab (......) this link drops in a “click to view,” which then takes to you the podcasters full iTunes Preview page. 7. We will use Spreaker.com as our next example. Grab the
URL from your favorite podcaster. You can also take the “share” icon link which is located at the bottom right for most devices. Once placed in the DropIn, that episode will be shown, you will see a wave, and the title of the upload. A press to play button is displayed.
LET’S DIVE IN. Starting with Twitter. Go to the three dots or ellipsis (...) twitter calls it “More,” which is directly under the tweet. Select “copy link to Tweet.” Place in the DropIn. Tweets will display with all of their elements provided they
are properly sized. They could have images, photographs, gifs, video and even periscope live events. If a “press to play” button displays, each audience member has those controls. It’s pretty cool. But there is much more with Twitter. When you are posting a tiny tweet which is the
original 140 in the DropIn, if you look carefully, you will see that you can engage with the tweet just as you would if you were on the twitter app. You can reply, “like,” even get the twitter app. CLEVER IDEAS. Using Moments. Find a moment you wish to share on your twitter timeline. Follow
the steps above taking that link and using the DropIn. Using Periscope. Find a scope you wish to share on your twitter timeline. Follow the steps above. A still picture will be captured when you grabbed the
original URL. Using Vine. FInd a vine you wish to share on your twitter timeline. Follow
steps above. A still picture media player will be
captured and seen inside the quad.
2. Now for YouTubeLIVE. Once you’ve powered it up and it does take a little experience, locate the share link at the bottom right. The 16:9 widescreen format DropIn will display.
PRO TIP: The audio delay and managing your mute to eliminate echo and other audio issues is
required so take your time setting this up. And you will have tunneling if you don’t have screensharing
all thought out. CLEVER IDEAS. Know
how to close it all down yet keep your DropIn in an
active state. The audience that is viewing at the time you end your live stream will have a gorgeous view of your event still AND a slider bar of four or five of your last uploaded videos. You may get text that reads something like this and your YouTubeLive event will have ended and no active state will display
in DropIn. Look for text along these lines. This Hangout On Air is
now over
A recording of the
broadcast will now be uploaded to your
YouTube channel and will automatically replace the live video players that were shared. Please
allow a few minutes for the upload and
processing to complete. You will be able to view the recording in your
YouTube Video Manager. 3. Pinterest. Yes, Pinterest. The links are pretty basic. Open Pinterest, grab the URL for a pin and then put it into the DropIn box. If you
have an affiliate link for let’s say, Amazon on your Pinterest page your audience clicks twice to go directly to your Amazon product. The Vine post to a Pinterest board, then, grabbing the unique pin is full of text and looping information which may be a hidden gem yet explored. As an example
see this pin, https://www.pinterest.com/pin/125326802108667924/ on a collective board from Beauty’s Pinterest account. A YouTube video of any length, once posted on a board, will play with a double click method. As an example see this pin, https://www.pinterest.com/
pin/125326802108021366/ on a collective board from Beauty’s Pinterest account. 4. Canva. Introduce your logo or brand using this graphic site. There are size requirements, and we will explain all of these in a featured chapter of the Guide. Now for the proper URL. The URL from the
share area is best, as the URL from the menu bar only gives you a simple display with a “click to view.” Taking an additional step of sharing on twitter may upload faster, but, may not have all the colors, functions and formating of your original canva. Now, if you have a number of graphics in one
vertical URL, when your audience visits the link, they will have a numbered slideshare available to scroll through your canva or board. This is an alternative to LinkedIn Slide Share presentations. The most important thing is to get your outreach, vision, ideas and concepts in the hands of the your
audience. Let people see what you are working on. It is fantastic as a scheduler and calls to action.
Caution. Best to be prepared as Canva.com does take a while for the URL to que up if you are wishing for immediacy. So
be patient.
We have two examples here. (1) From Stan Bush. https://www.canva.com/design/DABnaJ8D30/view using a format sized just for twitter which is 2:1 or more specifically 1024x512 px. Example (2) https://www.canva.com/design/DABugEKh7v0/view from Laura [ waiting on sizing ].
4. Websites. URLS copy/paste from menu bar. Depending on how meta header tags are written, each website will have a different look, vibrancy and readability. 5. TWITCH. Place the Twitch URL in the DropIn box. 6. Vimeo Take the link from their share button
which will give you every attribute that is and has been added to the video. As you will see the elements are all are active including the “Rent” buy button. 6a. Vimeo. Formatted content is important. The 16:9 aspect ratio large format DropIn does work. An example such as
https://vimeo.com/65433105. CLEVER IDEAS. Purchase pop up via Vimeo gives the audience the “video on demand” choices for payment processing. CAUTION ON VIMEO. We
have experienced a number of times when a browser will lock and
stream begins to pulse. Make certain you have a “refresh cohost” as it will require a refresh to come back with full function.
Vine. The examples we tested are not displaying (as of March 26, 2016) Unless you have made them a tweet. 7. Soundcloud. As of last testing (March 26, 2016)
Soundcloud was not available. There is a workaround involving, yes,Twitter. Simply share your clip on twitter. Use the share a tweet and DropIn. 7a. iTunes gives us some nice art. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/pnrthisoldmark
etingcontent/id760760485?mt=2&ref=blab 7b. NPR gives art, but is a double click to play. Strip from the embed. From http… to the end of the unique number. Here is the iframe code <iframe src="http://www.npr.org/player/embed/150057676/150057781" width="100%" height="290"
frameborder="0" scrolling="no" title="NPR embedded audio player"></iframe> This is what you want to grab. http://www.npr.org/player/embed/150057676/150057781 We will continue dropping those links in as testers. EVENTS. Often we will drop event links of
contributors who discuss the features with some authority over the subject. 8. Livestream. From the Livestream share button. Allow for the element to load. Click the live button/arrow and allow to generate a load wheel. Click inside the load wheel and the feed will begin. Strip from the embed.
From http...to the end of the unique number. Here is the iframe code <iframe id="ls_embed_1459042450" src="//livestream.com/accounts/1658248/events/4774776/player?width=560&height=315&autoPlay=true&mute=false" width="560" height="315" frameborder="0"
scrolling="no"></iframe>. This is what you want to grab. livestream.com/accounts/1658248/events/4774776 OR the simple link http://livestream.com/itvl/events/4774776 9. Katch. From the simple URL. As of March 5th 2016, these links only display the site.
10. Katch2. The https from embed, copy and paste up to the “?” mark that gives you the play arrow, or, the shortened link that gives you the title and the play arrow. 11. Amazon, Netflix and other “videoondemand” do go through a loading or spinning sequence. From the simple URL. As of
March 5th, 2016, these links never fully load. 12. eBAY. The URL is amazing and you will have another rich and robust visual depending on the item and description submitted by the seller. 13. USTREAM. From the URL offered. Although you do get some image in the
quad, the play button takes to you USTREAM. 14. Vaughn. Simple URL. The site link is only shown. 15. Periscope. New finding as of March 7h, 2016. During a LIVE Periscope on Twitter. Requires a two click method, but the still image if you catch it just right is fantastic.
16. LINKEDIN | SlideShare. Simple URL. Site link should deploy a working forward and backward view of the slides for the host. Users do not have controls. You may not “see” the slide share on certain mobile devices. 17. LINKEDIN | Videos. From the embed script.
18. News outlets. WSJ, NY Times, PEOPLE, Vogue, the simple URL’s of freemium articles is robust. The photography, headline and favicon for the publication are all displayed. 19. News outlets LIVE. There are many news stations that offer LIVE feeds of reporting, etc.,
giving you the iframe embed code and the https link. 20. YouTube AutoPlay. Features are improving. Blab is testing the host controls of play, playback and pause of YouTube content 21. BlogTalkRadio. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/beautybubble/2012/08/
30/beautybubblenowreel32 Autoplays to every viewer. 22. LivIt. Mobile stream from your phone. The URL is touchy. Use the URL. A nice website card with a title and profile picture is displayed. Only once did a double click result in a live event. Usually, a text line will
display, reading, “This event has not started yet” or “...has already ended.” We will continue to test LivIt in the future. These are test examples. http://lvt.me/?v=DV2ENvrGqJ# and http://lvt.me/?v=kA2ldjO21p they are have included to demonstrate the code lines for future testing.
23. libsyn. The event and your art. Notice how it is from the “directory” link. http://directory.libsyn.com/ ← KEEP THIS INTACT http://directory.libsyn.com/episode/index/show/sciencefriday/id/4248474. The main attribute of the libsyn site is you can play the entire playback without leaving the blab event
page. The slider, timer, pause and logo are all expressed. 24. JukeDeck. Drops the website page AND their cover art. A twitter post is good too. Both are expressed in the original quad. https://www.jukedeck.com/share/1869ac8e08859d207f63bd2dd4e77214f91fd44
547242ef8af86021cb2ab9028 25. YouTube360o. Drop the link and you can view 360 with your mouse pad navigation. 26. Video Trailer by Snipandshare.com. Once your snip has been created and shared on twitter. Copy the tweet and place in DropIn. Full
video is displayed with a click. 27. Overcast.fm. 28. audioBoom. There are three different ways to use the DropIn. The landing page. The channel, which displays a good portion of the content wave files and art. Via the actual event, which displays their showcard.
29. MeeVee. This are simple URL drops and all share menus and embeds do not play. Full video is displayed with a click. Example. http://www.mevee.com/s/MYTN1CAIzX 30. Clammr. http://www.clammr.com/app/clammr/204436?extendedInfoAutoplay=1
31. Krue.tv. https://www.krue.tv/christineewhite 32. IMDB. Should you wish to present a title of a movie. You can try this as an example “The Rock” (1996) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117500/ 33. Don’t get too crazy about using MP3.
http://example.com/bond/theme.mp3
There, you have it, thirtythree ways to use the DropIn feature. Be of good cheer.
