    NOTICE OF RACE

    12th World Police SailingChampionships

    21st 27th October 2012

    The Hong Kong Police Sailing Club is pleased toannounce that the 12th World Police SailingChampionships will be held in the waters of Hong Kong

    Harbour and surrounding areas using the versatile J-80Sailboats.

    1.4 Succeeding items will take precedent.

    2. ADVERTISING

    In accordance with the ISAF Advertising Code, advertising on thesupplied equipment is only available to the Organizing Authority.

    3. ELIGIBILTY

    3.1 All participants must be a serving, or honourably retired, Police orLaw Enforcement officer (or civilian staff) in their respectivecountries.

    3.2 Entry to this competition will initially be limited to two teams

    representing any one country on a first come first served basis,however should more places be required subsequent expressionsof interest will be considered after the application deadline.

    3.3 Should more than twelve foreign entries be received, the OrganizingAuthority will endeavour to seek additional alternativeaccommodation and boats. The entry fees for the additional teamswill vary from that outlined in section 4 to reflect the cost of

    alternative accommodation and will be the subject of anaddendum to this Notice.

    Sat 27th October 2012)- Event T-shirt

    4.3 Accommodation will be provided within the Hong Kong Police

    College Aberdeen Campus Officers Mess and comprises of 40single rooms and 10 double suites, available on a first come firstserved basis. Meals will be taken in the Officers Mess or at officialfunctions.

    4.4 Fees for an accompanying spouse or partner, sharing a doublesuite, will be $4, 200 HKD per person and will include:

    - Accommodation from Sat 20th October to Sun 28th

    October 2012- Breakfast- Packed lunch- All evening/dinner functions- Event T-shirt

    4.5 Entries with appropriate fees and expressions of interest should besubmitted using the official entry form by 31st March 2012 to:

    5.4 For cancellation on the day of the commencement of the event thefull amount will be charged.

    6. SCHEDULE

    6.1 This event will consist of:

    Sun 21st October - Registration, Skippers Briefing and Practice

    RaceMon 22nd October - RacingTues 23rd October - RacingWed 24th October - RacingThurs 25th October - Reserve Day (maybe used for sailing if

    necessary)Fri 26th October - Racing

    Sat 27

    October - Racing and Prize Giving Party

    6.2 Eleven races are scheduled for this event.

    6.3 The schedule and format of the races will be issued with theSailing Instructions.

    6.4 A minimum of four races will constitute the Championships. If six

    or more races are sailed one discard will be allowed, if eight ormore races are sailed two discards will be allowed.

    The Sailing Instructions will be available upon arrival on Saturday

    20th October and at the Skippers Briefing.

    9. VENUE

    Racing will take place in the waters of Hong Kong. The attachedmap indicates the three proposed sailing areas capturing the very

    best parts of Hong Kong sailing.

    10. THE COURSES

    The courses to be sailed will be specified in the SailingInstructions, however it is intended to use a mix ofwindward/leeward, geometric, passage and harbour courses in the

    Championships.

    11. SCORING

    The Low Point Scoring System of the RRS Appendix A will apply.

    12. HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS

    Boats shall not be hauled out during the regatta, except with andin according to the terms of prior written permission of the racecommittee.

    - Day prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be presented at theend of each days racing.

    - Overall Championship prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will bepresented at the Prize Giving Party on Saturday 27 th October2012.

    16. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

    16.1Competitors participate in this event entirely at their own risk.

    See Rule 4 of the RRS 2009-2012, Decision to Race. TheOrganizing Authority will not accept any liability for materialdamage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction withor prior to, during, or after the event.

    16.2The Organizing Authority reserves the right to postponed or cancelthis event due to circumstances beyond its control, releasing

    without liability the Organizing Authority, any individuals and theHong Kong Police.

    17. INSURANCE

    17.1The Hong Kong Police Sailing Club has arranged third party liabilityinsurance with a minimum cover of HK$1,000,000 so as to complywith local laws for all competition boats.

    17.2The boats are insured for damage whilst racing, but with anexcess of HKD$20,000. It should also be noted that as per theterms of the racing insurance damaging to rigging and spars is
