February 9, 2007 – City Council unanimously adopted food container ordinance
February 9, 2008 – Food container ordinance goes into effect for all food providers in Santa Monica
February 26, 2008 – City Council directs staff to prepare an ordinance banning single use plastic bags and create a fee for single use paper bags
