From Rev. Gretchen
‘The Good Old Summertime’
We all look forward to summertime. The weather is at its best – for the most part – and our schedules are lighter.
Church services for the summer will be held on Sun-day mornings at the regular times - 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Keeping the schedule seems to work best for everyone.
A couple of important events occur on the Church calendar in the months of May and June. The Fifty Days of Easter end on May 24 with the celebration of Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit. This is the day to wear something red in recognition of the symbolic flames of the Spirit. The following Sunday, May 31
st, is a special Sunday in which we celebrate
the concept of our triune God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The season of Pentecost, or Ordinary Time, then runs through ‘Christ the King Sunday’ on November 22
nd. Our lives during this long ‘green’ period, a time
of growth and life within the Church and may well include exceptionally un-ordinary events, such as births and deaths. As we take this journey, nour-ished by the scriptures appointed for the season and empowered by our baptisms, we are invited to be on the lookout for all the blessings found in the ordinary – to see God at work here and now.
Enjoy your summer and remember that the life and schedule of your church continues as always.
Peace and love be with you – Rev. Gretchen

Thank You! Thank You ! Thank You!
Rick Veenstra for crafting and installing the new stair railings for the front door. It is now user friendly and safer to use.
Cammi Veenstra for the bright red accent crosses on the new rails.
The England Family for providing the new planters by the front entry complete with Easter pansies!
The new windows are shedding a radiant light on our facility. Thanks to the diligent work of our Sr. Warden Sandy and our Jr. Warden Cammi the reno-vation has been well supervised and they have per-sonally done all the necessary trim painting. New window coverings will be installed within the next couple of weeks. Please stop by and check it out.
We have a new kitchen door, which means we have a new combination. If you need access to the church, please call any of the Vestry members and they will give you the new four digit code.
We had a most enjoyable visit with the Bishop and
Ardele Sunday, April 19. Be sure and check his
Facebook page to see the pictures he posted of
St. Mary’s.

St. Mary’s Academic Achievement Award
In order to encourage and challenge the youth in our im-
mediate church family, we have established the St. Mary’s
Academic Achievement Award. One hundred dollars will
be awarded to any high school, junior high or middle
school student who receives a 3.5 GPA report card.
For our young people it is vitally important for them to un-
derstand that getting the finest education possible, and
using that knowledge with the guidance of the Holy Spirit,
is their best hope – both for their future and for the future
of mankind.
Requirements: In order to apply for the award the stu-
dent must attend St. Mary’s Church and must have a par-
ent, grandparent or guardian who is a member of St.
Mary’s Church. Report cards should be submitted to the
Priest or to a member of the vestry….there is no applica-
tion form. If more than one student qualifies, multiple
awards will be given, but students may only receive the
award once during each academic year.
The awards are funded by the L. Dean and Gay Welch
Memorial gifts in keeping with their lifelong support of edu-
cation excellence.
Congratulations to
Isabelle “Izzy” Simmons
For receiving the first
St. Mary’s Academic Achievement Award!!
