Swimming Program-Year Prep, 1 and 2 in term 4

In term 4, we are offering an intensive five day swimming program at the Epping Leisure City (YMCA)) with each session running for 45 minutes. The levels are in accordance with the YMCA Swim Program (which is a balance of basic swimming skills-stroke development, simulated open water activities and water safety - learning about different water environments that exist, the dangers that may be present and how to deal with them. Our school has been booked in for 6 lessons, with classes attending each lesson. A reminder that the full payment is due by November 9th.

Year Prep– December 13th, 14th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th

Year 1 and 2 will either go in group 1 or group 2. Grades will be notified which group closer to the event.

Group 1: 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 10th

Group 2: 13th, 14th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th

Swimming is a life skill and is part of the Victorian curriculum where students practise a range of movement patterns in aquatic environments. A permission form will be available first day of term 4.

A reminder to all students that when attending sports lessons appropriate footwear and clothing is required. It is vital

that your child wears comfortable running shoes so that they are not being disadvantaged in working to their full potential. This also decreases the amount of injuries when running or involved in dodging games. Please consider

this when your child is getting dressed in the morning, particularly on P.E. days. If unsure please ask your child the

days they have sport lessons. Also if your child is unable to participate in PE classes please send a note along to

the PE teacher. Thank you PE Team.

All Australian children and adults are recommended to eat two serves of fruit and five serves of vegetables

each day. A fruit or vegetable serving for a child is approximately equal to an individual child’s ‘handful’.

Fruit and vegetables can protect against overweight and obesity, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and

supply important nutrients. Cut up pieces of fruit are more-likely to be eaten as op-

posed to whole pieces. Cut up fruit at meal times and for snacks, or place it in

your child’s lunchbox cut up . The fruit will also be easier to manage and far

less messy!

Year 3-4 District T20 Cricket

On Tuesday 23rd October, we had 36 excited students travel to Epping Reserve with Cam, Rakesh, Jaimee-Lee and Bale to compete for the Lalor District T20 Cricket Tournament. We had 4 teams attend the day and witnessed some up and coming Cricket stars. Each team played 4 games on the day

including an all EVPS boys’ final. Some electric bowling from Vansh and Ish gave EV2 the edge but some great batting by Ahmed. R and Urvish lead EV1 to victory. The day was a huge success for all involved and we were well supported by a number of parents and staff from EVPS. A highlight of the day was the EV1 boys showing great sportsmanship with assisting other schools in teaching and assisting opposition students during the competition. A huge thank you to the following people who without their support would not of made it such a wonderful day for our students; Jaimee– lee and Rakesh who spent a number of his

lunchtimes working with the EVPS boys team in preparation for the tournament. To Ash from

Cricket Victoria who volunteered his time to help train and assist all 3/4 students involved. Cam for working well with his team and leading them to the final. Lastly to all of our EVPS students who

represented the school so proudly and worked hard all day, encouraging each other and living by the school values.

Year 5-6 District T20 Cricket

On Tuesday 30th October, 32 very excited students from year 5 and 6 left EVPS to compete at the annual Lalor District T20 Cricket Tournament. We had an 2 teams for both boys and girls It was a

fabulous day with all teams playing great Cricket. Each team played 4 games and then it was finals time. Our EV1 boys’ and girls’ squad made it to the finals. The boys were unfortunately beaten by Epping on the day. Our girls team made it straight through to the Grand Final undefeated and it set a final game against Lalor East. The girls played extremely well once again and managed to come out as champions with a 173-63 win. This now takes the EV1 girls’ team to the regionals which will be played on Tuesday 13th November at Burnely Oval, Richmond. The day was a huge success for all involved and we were well supported by a number of parents and staff from EVPS.
