SECl"lET Prior to the tuck on the 3rd Bn 105th Inf, a eading seaman from the

55th Guarc Force was taken by our troops while asleep at his post. rnterrogu• tion of this prisoner by the 105th Inf and ut tho Division CP disclosed tho following information. The prisoner stated, after approximately two hours of questioning, that he had been ordered to report to his unit commander at tho junction of three roads (POW unable to locate on map) and at that tDne had re­ceived his orders which in turn ha.C: come from lM.RPI .PT Field. Thc:;;e orderG were to tho effect tha.t an all-out attack by the enemy was to be made ut Q62000 July. Furthermore, prisoner stated that he understood that the enemy woulc be ordered to dispose of th~selves at 071500 July as u finale to their all-out attack. This information was transmitted to all major units of the Division nnd G•2 NLF. As noted, ce~onstrution terminated at approximately 2200 und from that time on, the night was quiet along the entire front. During the night, four RED alerts v.~ere ct~.llod.

At 070510 July, word was received fro~ the Reghnontal CP of the 105th Inf that o. "sake" attack appeared under way, coning down the corridor in the direction NE to SU along the ro.ilroud and S thereof (genero.l line TA 259M-258W) • At the same time, word wo.s received thut the 3rd Bn 105th Inf was reccivinb a heavy attack in its front (TA 249ABC). Reports frrnn various OP'G disclosed enemy ~oving down tho roo.d and railrouG puro.lleling the shore between TA 258T -TA 258U. During the morning, reports fran the 3rd Bn. estimated enemy on their front 500•1000 with pr.rticuli:J.r of'fort on their left. Other enemy of strength were reported moving into tho general area TA 247D:lTE ail!d occupying ole'. trenches in the urea TA 248KN. At o.pproxiJnately 1000, the estimate of enemy along the Division front "'tVO.S figured a.t 1500. Until 1200, enemy pressure had continueC. along the sumo areo. as noted above and ostima.te of enemy strength wo.s raised to 3000.
