The dawn of the Indian woman entrepreneur

• Today's Indian woman has moved from running small-scale home industries to building empires.

• Recent research of 114 women entrepreneurs* shows that the key driver has been the opportunity to innovate (70%) and be one's own boss (60%). 36% of the women interviewed said they were looking for work-life balance.

• The road, however, has not been easy, with entrepreneurs facing challenges both at the start-up phase to further down the road. Managing finances and building their teams are two key areas they find most challenging. Managing time, however, gets easier as confidence in the business and one's own abilities grows.

Why we care

Hi I'm Annelise Piers, co-founder Now! let's play. I must admit we started the company primarily to bring about change in organisations aswe worked with leaders and teams.

However, being a serial woman entrepreneur myself, I understand the challenges we face raising capital, managing cash flows and building our businesses. Over the past year and a half, I've been able to test our

tools of change in my very own life – with amazing results.

I work closely with my coach and business partner Rahul George who has journeyed with me and the other entrepreneurs whose stories of success we share in the following slides.

Nina Mehta and her business partner Arun were unable to see eye to eye. They had spent two years creating this amazing business but felt they both wanted something different.

He wanted to grow the business and she wanted to nurture it. To the untrained ear, they both wanted the same thing, but that is where our work with metaphors helped them see how differently they were looking at the business: Nina saw it as a baby that only they could care for, while Arun was looking at it as a greenhouse of many varieties of flowers, requiring many workers to tend them.

A couple of one-on-one sessions helped them align their visions and find ways to retain the qualities of their individual metaphors.

"Thank you for getting us to see the difference in how we were approaching our business. Today I've been able to expand the team and hand over several important processes to them. As a result, I’ve had more time to innovate.”

Heena Singh was struggling to manage her team. She had been a lone ranger for many years, but she knew that scaling up was the only way she could take her business to the next level.

We worked with her and her team, getting them to understand the goals of the business and how important they were to it. We even helped her develop the first layer of leadership.

"I thought the workshop would help the team get to know each other and build team morale, as is the outcome of many team building events. However, I must say the change we experienced was deeper than I imagined possible: it's like everyone is the owner of this enterprise I started. Thank you!"

Mira Harish had come to a point where she felt terribly stretched. She worked long hours and hardly saw her family except on Sundays. She was dangerously close to throwing in the towel.

Knowing she had worked so hard to come so far, she reached out to us for help.

During her one-on-one NLP consults with us she was able to list out and prioritize what she wanted personally and professionally. We taught her the tools to align her goals and values, enabling her to make the right choices in every moment.

"I am so much more relaxed now that I know what I want. I'm able to plan my day and week better and find that by slowing things down I actually get a lot more done. I'm calmer inside, even though there are periods of tight deadlines and client pressure. I don't feel overwhelmed anymore."

Neuro Linguistic Programming is a series of techniques that empower you to take control over your life and change your old behaviour.

Game helps you tap into inner resources, highlighting natural response patterns and interpersonal challenges.

Theatre allows you to look at a situation from different perspectives and even try out new behaviors in a safe setting.

Metaphors of entrepreneurship is an exploration of language and imagery one uses to describe one's business, giving

owners new perspectives to take steps in the right direction.
