WH AT IS SAMPLING?Sampling is the process of
selecting units (e.g., people,organizations) from a
population of interest.

A) PROBABILITY TEC HNIQU
A probability sampling
technique is any method of sampling that utilizes some
form of random selection.

There are three Techniques of
probability sampling techniquesuch as:
1) Random Sampling.2) Cluster Sampling.
3) Stratified Sampling.4 ) Systematic Sampling.

1 ) RANDOM
SAMPLING.Random sampling is the purestform of probability sampling. Each member of the populationhas an equal and known chance
of being selected.

2 ) CLUSTER
SAMPLING.It is for precisely this problem that cluster or arearandom sampling was invented.
In cluster sampling, we follow these steps:
i. Divide population into clusters (usually along geographic boundaries)
ii. Randomly sample clusters.
iii. Measure all units within sampled clusters.

SAMPLING.
Stratified sampling is commonly usedprobability method that is superior to
random sampling because it reducessampling error. A stratum is a subsetof the population that share at least
one common characteristic. Examplesof stratums might be males andfemales, or managers and non-
managers .

SAMPLING.Systematic sampling is often usedinstead of random sampling. It is also
called an Nth name selectiontechnique. After the required samplesize has been calculated, every Nthrecord is selected from a list of population members.

B) NON PROBABILITIES
TEC HNIQUESNon-probability sampling is a sampling technique wherein the samples are gathered ina process that does not give all the individualsin the population equal chances of being selected. In any form of research, true randomsampling is always difficult to achieve.

There are three Techniques of
non- probability sampling technique such as:
1) Convenience Sampling.2) Judge Mental Sampling.
3) Quota Sampling.4 ) Consecutive sampling.

1) CONVENIENCE SAMPLING.
Convenience sampling is used inexploratory research where the
researcher is interested in getting aninexpensive approximation of thetruth.

2) JUDGE MENTAL SAMPLING.
Judgment sampling is a commonnonprobability method. The
researcher selects the sample basedon judgment. This is usually andextension of convenience sampling

3) QUOTA SAMPLING.Quota sampling is the nonprobabilityequivalent of stratified sampling. Like
stratified sampling, the researcherfirst identifies the stratums and theirproportions as they are representedin the population.

4 ) CONSECUTIVE SAMPLING
Consecutive sampling is very similarto convenience sampling except that
it seeks to include ALL accessiblesubjects as part of the sample.
