MAKING OUR ROLE CRYSTAL CLEAR Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa

JUNE 22-24, 2016

Dear AAPL Members and Conference Attendees,

Please join the American Association of Physician Liaisons (AAPL) as we convene in beautiful Anaheim, California at the Disney Grand Californian Hotel and Spa for our 2016 Annual Conference. This is our 15th year, so expect an even more robust program of educational and networking opportunities as we celebrate our crystal anniversary. This conference is a unique program developed FOR physician liaisons BY physician liaisons and offers unmatched national reach for networking and professional growth. We are looking forward

to enjoying the world-famous Disney hospitality as we learn from experts and one another and engage actively in our professional growth.

Because we are heading into a rapidly changing time in healthcare this conference’s theme is, aptly put, “Making Our Roles Crystal Clear”. We are beyond excited that at the forefront of our conference is “Disney’s Approach to Leadership Excellence”. This keynote address presented by the Disney Institute is sure to inspire and engage us by fostering an awareness of how Disney thinks about values-based leadership and how their time-tested principles can influence your organization, your team, and yourself as a leader. Other nationally recognized speakers will address:

• Theuseofsocialmediainthephysician’sworld• Personalitytypesandhowtheybenefitourroles• Highperformanceuseofanalytics• Ourroleswithinthechanginghealthcarelandscape• AAPL’sgrowingpartnershipwithSHSMD

In response to our members’ request, the Pre-Conference workshop, “Successful Strategies,” that was offered last year at an additional charge is included in your total conference fee this year.

Healthcare is confronting a time of many changes, and AAPL will continue to bring inspired people together through its conference to ensure we remain at the cutting edge. We have remained relevant for 15 years and will continue that relevance well into the future.

Before I close, I would like to thank each of you for attending our conference and bringing your expertise. You, as organization leaders, have the vision, the knowledge, and the experience to help us pave our way into the future. Throughout the conference I ask you to stay engaged and help us make our role crystal clear.

Sincerely,

Gail ChellisGail Chellis, Director, Physician Relations St. Anthony’s Medical CenterAAPL 2016 Program Committee Chair

Ryan Giannetta

Ryan Giannetta incorporates over 12 years of project management and operations experience into helping organizations explore Disney insights as they strive to enhance the way they do business.

Ryan’s Disney career began in 2001 as an attractions host at the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Working various roles in attractions coupled with his passion for guest service led him back to his native state of California to the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif., where he joined the cast of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa.

After just a few months, Ryan had the opportunity to help create the Disneyland Resort hotels guest activities department. The program continues to offer hotel guests one-of-a-kind experiences ranging from learning how to draw Mickey Mouse to private shopping experiences in the Downtown Disney district.

Ryan’s leadership qualities and customer insight were quickly recognized, and in 2003 he was selected to join Disney University, the cast member training division of The Walt Disney Company, as an orientation leader. Ryan’s varied service background and passion for teaching his fellow cast members motivated him to then transition to human resources. With that department, Ryan helped execute the first Disney Leadership Conference and worked as cast activities representative during the Disneyland 50th anniversary celebration in 2005.

In 2006, Ryan returned to his customer service roots by accepting a position as guest services manager for the Disneyland Resort hotels. Focusing on the development and growth of cast members and the hotels’ daily operation allowed Ryan to develop training teams and implement process improvements.

As a project logistics manager for the Disneyland Resort Hotels and Downtown Disney district, Ryan was responsible for logistics relating to development and capital improvements to ensure a seamless guest experience. Ryan joined the Disney Institute team in 2010 to help other professionals explore and adapt the Disney business insights he has utilized throughout his career.

Ryan graduated from California State University, Fresno with a Bachelor of Science in business administration. He was also a member of the Alpha Mu chapter of the national marketing and sales fraternity Pi Sigma Epsilon.
