Since the arson the Smyths have been living in a counicl flat while their home has been under repairs. However three days ago Mrs Smyth was opening her mail and found a letter suspected to be from one of the criminals saying that they would “Burn their home to the ground as many times as is needed” Mrs Smyth shocked by this letter phoned the police imdetially. It appears that the letter was dropped off personally by whom- ever wrote it since there were no stamps or adress any where on the evenerlop. We spoke to Mr and Mrs Smyth when their home was burnt down and we decicded to do a follow up about the events that have transpired. We asked the Smyths why they thought the criminals wanted to do this again to them? Mr Smyth responded with “We keep to our selves and we haven’t done anyone no harm i don’t under- stand why these four lads are attacking us”. The next question we asked was how do you think the criminals found your address and do you fear for your saftey currently? We directed this ques- tion at Mrs Smyth first and she answered “I have no clue how they found out where we live, but we are a small commiunty so it wouldn’t be hard to find us if they wanted to, i just don’t understand why you would want to find us if you habe ruined out lives. As to the fear, Yes! i fear for my saftey. I have done every day since the house was set on fire i can’t believe someone would do something like this” We also followed up the with police who ever investigating this case. Thet encourage anyone who may know anything about these criminals to come forward and will be closely monitoring the Smyths for their saftey. It appears the Smyths nightmare is not over and as they fear for their own saftey from these four criminals. A long side of the police the local commiuntiy are also offering to aid the Smyths in their troubles. We asked local shop owner Ted Williams about the two events, he said “I am going to be keeping an ear and an eye out for these criminals if i hear anything, they wont get a chance to do anything because the police will be around their homes so fast they won’t be even able to say the word Crime.” The rest of the commiunty seems to be following the view point of Mr.Williams, all of the local busi- nesses seem to listening out and the rest of the people seem to be offering kind words and a helping hand to the Smyths. Mr.Smyth told us in our inter- view that he was “proud of this commiunty ever since he moved here 25 years ago and it is a shame that some bad apples have to ruin this perfect area. These criminals are still on the loose so we advise people to keep smart and safe, in addition to this if you know anything about thw Arson or the threats we advise you to go to the police with the information to help forward the case and to help to the Smyth’s mind at rest. I was fired be- cause i was the youngest Tony Richard was recently fired from his job at his lo- cal store because he was too young. The 18 year old was shocked to hear that he was being let go to allow an older and more experience worker take his place. Tony stated in his interview with us “How am i meant to gain experience if i cannot get a job because i do not have any experience.” He went on to say that he had only been working there for one month and even though he still didn’t have a grasp of the job he believed in time he would become a good and helpful worker. However the Manager did not see things this way and believed a more experienced worker who was also older was what was best for the business. We interview the Manager of the business (Paul Chap- man) and he told us that “Tony wasn’t very costumer friendly due to his inexperience and our elderly customers found this off putting, I do not like firing people especially those that have just started however it was purely a business deci- sion. Tony is still currently still looking for work but remains optimistic that he will be able to secure a job and gain the skill he will need for future employment. Second Arson Attempted

Know to the general public we see hoodies as violent thugs who should be avoided at all costs but two “hoodies” have started to change that when the two young men helped the blind 45 year old Paul Grayhouse home after he lost his guide dog. The two young men named David Reece and Gareth Jones were walking back from a party when they say Mr.Grayhouse lost and confused, they proceeded to ask him if he needed any help then assisted him on to a bus and help him fi nd his home. The two boys said “That they get viewed as criminals just by the way they dress and that if it was anyone else other than Mr.Grayhouse they would of tried to ignore us” We asked the commiunty of what they thought of “hoodies” and we got the same response from every person “thugs”, “criminals” and “low-lifes” however these two

young men have slowly changed the minds of the commiunty by doing good acts such of this, We asked tge exact same people what they though of Garteh Jones and David Reeces and the responses were the com-plete opisite to what was said about the therm “hoodie” we got words such as “lovley” “good lads” and “perfect”. Mr.Grayhouse has heard stories about thexe dreaded “hoodies” and he did have some imput on the subject he said he was “shocked that people judge people based off how they look, Sight is a gift and people should just be happy that they can see what peopel look like. These two good lads where a huge help to me and without them i would be lost for who knows how long. Yet people seem to give a stimga to these lads and other young boys be-cause they dress in a certain ways, i cannot understand why”.

However not all agree with Mr.Grayhouses point of view, Linda Smith had her business broken in to and supply and money was stolen, she believes the only reason all hoodies have this stimga, is because they deserve it. We told her about the two young mens good deeds and she replied with “ thats all well and good but these two boys do not change the years of criminal acts Hoodies have commited” she also added “ These two boys were probably made fun of or been seen as misfi ts amoung their friends, believe me i’ve seen them doing stuff that would change your mind about them.” We tried to get more information on the subject however she refused to go in to detail.
