Today the world marks the 75th anniversary of the end of World War ll. In cities throughout Europe, Asia and across the globe, people gather with poppies and attend ceremonies to commemorate those who fought for us.World War ll was a time of destruction and terror.  50 million people died. 15 million were soldiers, 20 million were Russians, 6 million were Jews and over 4 million were Polish. If you lived somewhere with German soldiers in you country they would find out the personal information of the Jews who lived in your neighborhood and put them in concentration camps and gas chambers. If you were not “pure blooded”, you would have been executed. An war expert reports Hitler’s definition of  pure blood was “Blue eyes, Blonde Hair and German blood,even though he did not have blonde hair.”

Some soldiers regret killing innocent humans. Knappe Green, a  German soldier states,” I was on a mission to Russia and a man nearly killed me. Another soldier saved my life. Now thinking about it, I should have not killed all those innocent humans, how scared they must have felt, just like I did.”  Now were going to have an interview with a lucky survivor from World War ll.   “How did Hitler commit suicide?”“He first poisoned his wife Eva because he was scared someone would threaten his wife for information after he died, so he decided to poison her dinner. In the morning Hitler saw that Eva was dead. He was scared that he was to close to being found so he shot himself with a pistol.”  “How many men did you have in your division?” “We had 1,000 men in each division.”       “Did you think you  had a chance to win  the war?“From the start, it was clear to me that we would have not won the war but we gave it a shot anyways.”

In conclusion we are grateful for those who fought for us and sacrificed their lives for the future of humans to have freedom.
