Pemetic’s Math Counts Team had a great weekend at Reeds Brook Middle School. The MathCounts Chapter competition was held on January 27th. These kids spent the day solving some very challenging math problems. The competition consisted of three rounds, two individual tasks, and one team task. They did extremely well in each of the rounds. They made Pemetic proud! We are hoping for more students to join our club. Grades 6 - 8 are eligible to compete. Meetings are held Wednesdays after school in Mrs. Reed’s room from 3:00 - 4:00. 2/2/18

Mrs. Schroeder’s 4th Grade Class participated in the “Ton of Pasta” Food Drive that some of our local radio stations

and Hannaford’s head up every year. This annual food drive was started in 2003 and thanks to the generosity of

many, is still going strong in 2018! Chris Popper, local radio personality, was here on Thursday to promote the food drive and even got our 4th graders on the radio!

Boxes of pasta (or any other non-perishable food donations) are welcome, and can be dropped off at the

Ellsworth Hannaford on Saturday, February 10th between 10PM and 2PM.

After School Technology Programs

We have a LOT of options for students to geek out with Mr. B. after school this year. I had a great time creating LittleBits inventions with students in grades 1-4 earlier this year and am currently running a program creating Minecraft Mods after school with a couple students. Below I will list all of the upcoming options that i have scheduled, PLUS there may be another option or two in April and May, but those are still in the works. NOTE: All of the classes are listed on the school’s main calendar. Email me with questions ([email protected] ).

The Winter Olympics will be taking place over February break and we will use them as inspiration for a week of fun games and friendly competition during our week of camp. Participants will break into teams representing various countries and go for the gold in activites that recreate the sports of the winter games, plus some extras just for fun. We’ll mix indoor contests with games in the gym and outdoor activities, so kids should come dressed for the weather every day. We also have special trips planned for Tuesday and Friday to break up the week. Be sure to look over the special information listed below!
