From the Principal….

Thursday, 11 August 2016 – Issue 13.

AGPPA MEETING - Adelaide

On Monday and Tuesday of this week I was invited to attend the

Australian Government Primary Principals Association meeting in

Adelaide. The President and Deputy President of each Principal

Association across Australia were in attendance and along with

two other Victorian Principals I was representing the Victorian

Principals Association and Victorian Government schools. Each

State and Territory was represented and there were many high-

powered conversations around the issues that primary school

Principals, and their school communities, are tackling right now.

Key topics of discussion included:

NAPLAN. Equity and Needs Based Funding for schools. The imbalance of funding between primary and secondary

schools.

I felt quite privileged to be invited to participate in this forum with

leading educators from across the country. The fact that Rollins PS was

represented and had a voice at the table is a great thing for our school.

PARENT SURVEYS

My sincere thanks go to those families who took some time to fill

in and return the Parent Surveys which were sent home to

random families recently. We had a very strong return with many

surveys being completed. The information we get from these

surveys is a vital part of our future planning.

PREP ENROLMENTS BEING TAKEN NOW

Enrol now to guarantee your child’s place!

WINTER WARMERS FUNDRAISER The ‘Winter Warmers’ fundraiser that we held recently was a great success for our school and we hope that everyone is able to make great use of the products they purchased. We made $500 for our school which, like all of our fundraising activities this year, will go towards the cost of installing our new playgrounds.

GOOD LUCK DOUG! Mr Doug Ilsley is taking some time to recover from knee surgery and will be on leave for the remainder of this term. I’m very happy to welcome Mr Chris Appleford, who will be replacing Doug over the coming weeks, to our school. Chris is enthusiastic about being at Rollins and has a strong background in Physical Education.

I’m sure you will all join with me in wishing Doug a speedy recovery from his surgery. We expect Doug return to school early in Term 4.

It is however important to note that because this is our first time of doing this we have only ordered a limited number of copies to be printed. Please make sure you secure your copy of the book by returning your order form as soon as possible.
