Diversifying into downstream, DRL have commenced two jobs with TOTAL at their Beaumont Cray Valley Resin Plant and their Baytown Petrochem Facility, led by Ryan and James respectively - applying our onshore project management methods developed from our previous work experience. The guy on the right is James.

Cray Valley Adhesive plant in Beaumont, TX DRL Engineering (Ryan Campbell) is managing a project to dismantle and remove a plant from Total’s Cray Valley Adhesive plant in Beaumont, TX. We are also performing a Vulnerability Study on the entire facility to determine to causes and help develop projects to improve plant reliability and decrease downtime.

DCP Midstream Three Rivers DCS Upgrade Led by Mike Mancill, DRL replaced the Inlet PLC, Amine PLC, ESD PLC, CAM PLC and Delta V DCS with Triconex ESD and Foxboro EVO DCS. And repaired 109 facility maintenance issues within a 14 day turnaround. Also provided start up assistance along with operational support on a 90 MMSCFD facility.




NGLs David Byrnes just finished construction on the MRD Sailes meter station in Louisiana (IMG_3327). Earlier in the summer he was working on installation of 2 control valves on the Wattenberg Pipeline in Kansas and Colorado.

Mike Mancill, James Bond and Ken supported VGas in reviewing a tender for a gas plant EPC. Don Reed also visited a sister plant near Karachi to troubleshoot operational issues and succeeded. DRL and Investor planing to commence Tendering Process of this 60 Mmscffd Sour Gas JT Amine Plant..




BOMESC Fabricators - Tianjin, China

Here the yard is completing the Chevron OSBL LNG Modules (70 kte) - where DRL was the representative agent. Currently we are supporting BOMESC in joint discussions with NOVATEK Yamal 2 LNG Russia.

Husky Madura DRL have contracted CTI Consulting for assisting Husky and CNOOC in the design of the molten sulfur storage system on the BAB Madura BD Sour Gas Fpso. CTI

Hess North Dakota – Hawkeye Gas Gathering Plant

The Hawkeye Compressor Station in McKenzie County, North Dakota is a critical element in the Hess’ Bakken asset strategy of reducing a key production bottleneck by compressing 50 MMSCFD of gas and delivering the gas and associated NGL’s into the Hawkeye (SoR) HP Pipeline. These products will flow to the Tioga Gas Plant (TGP) dramatically reducing flaring, in line with State and Federal guidelines, as well as reducing environmental emissions. DRL Engineering is working with Hess and WorleyParsons Engineering to help manage the project. Mike Kennedy is managing the expediting and logistics for both Hess and WorleyParsons procurement from major equipment to valves. Greg Chittum is managing and coordinating pipe rack and process skid engineering and construction along with assuring timely delivery of the skids to the construction site. Nathan Moore is currently co-designing with WorleyParsons the utility lines inside the compressor building, running model reviews and looking for cost saving opportunities. Barry Plummer is overseeing the engineering and fabrication of the low voltage switchgear, motor control centers and the standby generators.

SE Asia Enquest – PMT Support for Tanjong Baram WHP Project

DRL’s James Doel continued as facilities lead engineer in the Client PMT through 1H15 for the load out, installation, and start-up phases of the minimum facilities WHP tie back. Key deliverables for the role were the Facilities Safety Case and the Well Start-up, Pipeline De-watering and Host Facilities Start-up Procedure which required dynamic system analysis of the combined down hole and flexible pipeline for slugging prediction.

At project completion, DRL’s Project Analyst Jim Scott, performed a comprehensive scope, cost and schedule benchmarking analysis of the project performance for justification of cost recovery on budget over runs. Project completion has since been agreed by the regulator and the facility is in production.

Mubadala – SK310 Pegaga Gas Development Value Engineering Earlier this year DRL were brought in to perform a Value Engineering study on the concept design for Mubadala’s Pegaga gas field development – a 500mmscfd with integral well bay. Working with the Client over a very condensed 6 week period, DRL were able to simplify the process, maximise the benefit of reservoir pressure to reduce compression and optimise the layouts. The result was a 30% reduction in Client CAPEX and a significant improvement in availability.

It was DRL’s targeting of the key scope drivers, resulting in significant reduction in topside weight that was responsible for the cost reduction. Benchmarking against peer gas projects illustrated the project performance that could be achieved. This was substantiated by DRL’s deliverables of process design, PFD’s, layouts and equipment list.

Kikeh Field Development

Deep Water IOR study DRL Engineering concluded study work in early 2015 on a deep water IOR project, studying several aspects of the implementation of a gas lift scheme utilising existing chemical injection tubing, including: • Steady state and dynamic pipeline simulation

to evaluate deliverability of lift gas from a subsea pipeline to wellheads on a deep water spar;

• Production improvements by application of gaslift on wells across a range of water cuts and downhole pressures;

• Evaluation of gaslift compression requirements for various operating scenarios and driver types, compressor specification, compressor enquiries and bid evaluations.

Twinza – Concept Definition for Offshore Gas Recycling Project Twinza Oil Limited re-engaged DRL Engineering to perform two separate studies in 2015 on their offshore gas recycling project.

• In late 2014 / early 2015, DRL reworked their 2012 concept engineering study, to consider higher throughput with a revised product slate, and evaluate two alternative configurations to accommodate future expansion requirements. DRL’s scope of work included: revising the process flow scheme for the revised throughput and products; evaluation of FSO requirements and configuration; cost estimates and schedule development for 2 alternative facility configurations.

• In August 2015, DRL evaluated a number of Early Production System proposals received by Twinza, including process review and feasibility of layout on a self-installing platform. As an extension to this scope of work, DRL also developed a number of possible process schemes for early production operation, incorporating different levels of complexity and providing a range of product recoveries, and developed a layout concept based on distribution of the facilities between the platform and FSO.

Offshore innovation – Sulphur Management offshore applying the Topsoe WSA process Having performed front end engineering activities on a number of sour gas projects in the recent past, DRL picked up on the Haldor Topsoe WSA process for sulphuric acid manufacture as being an attractive technology to deploy offshore. An agreement with Haldor Topsoe A/S has been put in place for DRL to work with the Danish sulphur experts to implement their process offshore. Initial analysis shows that, although unfamiliar to the oil industry, the technical challenges of deploying the WSA plant offshore and handling sulphuric acid are relatively straightforward. DRL has identified a number of candidate projects and is engaging with Clients to realise the advantages of such a concept.

News: SKE’s B15 project achieves sanction Petronas recently approved FID for SKE’s B15 gas development project, a design that DRL had delivered to MR4 (pre-FEED) stage gate. DRL was engaged in 2014 to re-work an original concept design that had failed to deliver attractive economics. DRL provided a much reduced topsides design and were retained to deliver the concept definition required for pre FEED sanction. The project now enters the EPCIC phase.

DRL recently accompanied Petronas on a site visit to inspect existing WSA plants in Shaogang, China.




News: Repsol (Talisman) KNDP-A debottlenecking started up Back in 2013 DRL undertook a brown field concept engineering study for then Talisman’s KNDP-A platform with the objective of increasing the produced water handling capacity from 30k to 60kbpd. This task was made all the more difficult given the very crowded decks of this aging

production platform. Based on DRL’s design, Talisman placed an order for the package which they have now successfully installed and put into operation allowing a production increase.
