Term 4 World Teacher’s Day
Last Friday we celebrated World Teacher’s Day. We are so
fortunate to have a great team of hard working, caring and
passionate teachers at Plympton International College who make a
real difference on a daily basis. Thank you to the school support staff for the
delicious morning tea.
Year 12 Celebrations
The Year 12 students have finished their formal studies and are now
preparing hard for exams. Last week, we celebrated the achievements of all the
year 12s at a special assembly where the Reception students
enjoyed presenting balloons and good luck messages. This was an
important event that makes being part of a Reception to Year 12 College so
wonderful! The Valedictory and
Awards Ceremony was held at the
Morphettville Race Course where a
more formal evening where
parents, staff and students came
together to reflect on the year and
the many successes.
Congratulations to all students for
completing year 12 and to the
Award winners.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sharon Illingworth, Tara Hendry and
Larissa Kalms for their outstanding organisation, Andrew Charlton for his excep-
tional year level mentoring and to all the homegroup/subject teachers who have
supported students along their journey. We look forward to celebrating student
examination results and hearing about their future successes.

Primary Class Placement
The inclusive, welcoming culture and achievement of our college has resulted in rapid growth (with many
disappointed at not being able to be enrolled).
In primary, we will be expanding from 7 classes in 2018 to 11 or 12 classes (still to be confirmed) in
2020. I would like to thank the staff for their outstanding commitment to our students and high quality
teaching and learning. I would also like to thank our families and volunteers who support our
classes.
We are currently undertaking the 2020 class placement process. Our teachers use their professional
judgement to ensure our classes are balanced. We have to consider the needs of every student. This in-
cludes social, emotional and learning needs. We have every confidence in the professionalism of our edu-
cators who are best placed to make these decisions. Parental input (as per a previous Seesaw invitation) is
welcome however; requests for specific classes or teachers are unable to be considered.
We have asked our students to nominate five friends from their year level and guarantee they will be with
at least one friend. We know that new friendships form as part of our ‘Setting Up for Success’ program at
the start of each year.
Our educators are highly professional and our college’s very strong focus on developing class culture will
ensure every child settles into their new class and will thrive. We look forward to the continued success of
our college in 2020.

Angelica in Year 1 was invited to attend International Glen Iris RG and Infinity AGG Cup. It was her first
time to compete and she was the youngest gymnast in this competition. She won 5th for All-Around plus
5th for rope and 6th for freehand.

Governing Council
It has been a busy year at Plympton International College and now that the year is winding down there’s
some housekeeping to attend to:
Governing Council is an important part of our college and our volunteers work hard to make our college a
better place for our students and staff. If you are interested and think you have the time then please
collect a nomination form from the college office for 2020.
Governing Council meet twice a term on a Wednesday evening. There are sub-committees that meet
once or twice a term. Next year we will be combining the Fundraising committee and the Parents and
Friends committee to become the Plympton International Events committee. We are aiming to advertise a
2020 calendar of events and will be asking volunteers to help make these events a great success for all.
We will be getting a new building soon replacing the music rooms alongside the gymnasium. This is an
exciting time for all. The college now has a tax-deductible donation process in place. If you wish to
donate, it will go towards the building fund that will continue to improve our facilities for our children and
every donation is tax deductible upon getting a receipt. If you, or a business you know, can make a differ-
ence then please contact the Business Manager.

Class Meetings
Homegroup teachers coordinate this
program with assistance from SRC representatives to run class meetings giving all students a voice at the
college. Through this process students have decided on a new name for the Pastoral Care Program to
represent what it means to them. After class meetings and votes the new name will be
‘Keys for Success’.
Thank you to all the students who helped in the decision marking process. School staff look forward to
continually developing the ‘Keys for Success’ program supporting students wellbeing.
