PROBE The PROBUS CLUB OF K AMLOOPS Newsletter No: 48, January, 2018 NORMA BROWNE President Happy New Year and welcome to 2018, with our Probus Club of Kamloops. I am certain we can all look forward to enjoying our many Probus friend- ships during some great and varied events this year! Our Special Interest Groups and Field Trips are already underway, with good weather conditions making the outdoor ones possible and decent road conditions making the indoor ones happen, as well! I have already met with members of the Manage- ment Committees of all three Probus clubs in Kamloops. Our main focus, at this point, is to facili- tate sharing of information among our three Kamloops clubs. Examples being speaker choices, variations of sub groups, and possible whole group shared activities, with all three clubs together! In keeping with one of the aims of Probus, that of Lifelong Learning, it was quite an exciting session! The Management Committee for our club has already initiated discussions about possible group activities, field trips and speakers through the coming year! As President of the Probus Club of Ka- mloops , it has been suggested that I might have a “special project” to work on during the year. So, after much thought, I have decided on something! It was presented for discussion at our recent Management Committee, and met with unanimous positive support. Stay tuned for further notice about the project at upcoming meetings during the coming year! Norma Browne OUR NEXT GENERAL MEETING will be on Thursday, January 25, 2018 Coffee at 9:30. The Probus Club of Kamloops had their annual Christmas Luncheon on December 7 2017. It con-sisted of Christmas turkey, along with salads, mashed potatoes, etc. The lunch concluded with a sing along of Christmas Carols.

SNOWSHOE GROUP 2018The Snowshoe Group, from Kamloops and Thompson Rivers Probus Clubs, is well underway with its programme for the 2017 to 2018 season.

Thursday December 14th, 2017Our first outing of the year was to Stake Lake where six of us made the most of minimal snow conditions to have a very enjoyable day out. 4 made their way round Big Fir and Marsh, while 2 covered Big Fir and a route of their own invention, staying well off the ski trails of course. Afterwards we all met for an enjoyable lunch at Duffy’s Pub.

With great sadness we send our mother, sister, friend and colleague to be with the angels. Rose Annette Noel passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 8:13 am. Annette fought a valiant battle against cancer.

Annette was born in St. Paul, Alberta on April 4, 1943. She was the second daughter of four siblings. She will be deeply missed by her children Craig Manary and Noella Ferguson (Rod), sisters Leona Wilkinson (Dave) and Yvonne Mclean (John), brother Victor (Mae), one surviving aunt Janet Henwood and numerous cousins of the Noel and Fewchuk families.

Annette being a teacher was a lifelong learner. She taught throughout Alberta and BC for over 30 years. She had wide and varied interests such as theater, bridge, hiking and gardening. Annette loved to travel learning about new cultures and experiences. She traveled to many places such as Peru, Oman and Europe. One of her favorites was a trip to the Maritimes.

Extended thanks to the many family and friends who surrounded her with love and caring.

In lieu of a formal service, a Celebration of Annette’s Life will be held at St. Andrews on the square on January 27, 2018 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
