Promotion Sunday

Today we’re celebrating a year of growth as our kids are promoted to their next grade level in Bible School. We are so proud of the many that are attending Bible School and growing in their walk with Jesus. We also want to say thank you to all of our teachers that spend countless hours investing in the lives of our young people here at the church.

Pocket Pals Today is the finale of our spring pocket pals! We were excited to have 29 pairs of kids and adults getting more connected over the past few weeks. This is such a bless-ing to both the ‘old’ and the ‘young’. Thank you to all of the adults that chose to share a little bit of their life with these youngsters, and thanks to the kids for being willing to share. Our prayer is that though the pro-gram is coming to an end, there are new friendships that will last for many, many years to come!

W ith Deepest Sympathy We extend our most heartfelt sympathy to those in our church family whose loved ones have gone on ahead of us to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ… Elsie Hicks passed from this life May 9th. Our sympathy to her son, Fred & Carol, and her grandchildren; Brian & Melissa Hicks, Brad & Kristy Speirs, and Andy & Kim Gray and their families. Our sympathy to Marilyn Rosenberger as her husband, Burt passed on to life eternal on May 12th. Marilyn has planned a memorial service for Burt on June 21st at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Bill Britt went to be with his Lord on May 15th. Our sympathy goes to his wife, Judy, and daugh-ter Cathy & Jeff Healy and grandchildren; Steven, Lauren, Caitlyn, and Ethan. Bill & Judy have three more daughters, Christine, Caren, & Cori and several more grandchildren. Our condolences to each and every one of them. Please pray for these families as they grieve their loved ones passing from this life. Yet there can be rejoicing because of the life they lived on this earth.

Here We Grow Again… We congratulate and welcome: Alex Hopper who was immersed into Christ on May 17th. Alex is the son of Cara Festian, he is ten years old and attends Cass City Ele-mentary. Rachel Miller who accepted the Lord’s invita-tion and was immersed on May 28th. Rachel is the daughter of Larry & Patty Miller. She has two brothers, Daren and Justin. Also, Patty Miller having already been im-mersed, placed her membership.

W O W Women Of the Word

WOW (formerly Northwomen) has changed dates and location. It will be held August 1-3 at Great Lakes Christian Col-lege campus. The main speaker is Julie Gariss, aka Gladys Frump. She is a great speaker and you will thoroughly enjoy her. The cost is $40 if registered before July 1st plus housing expenses. There is more information in the office if you are interested. Check it out!!! Let Mary Helen know ASAP so we can send in our registrations and arrange housing.

DEACON… We want to let you know that the elders have appointed Gib Kern to fill the remainder of Bernie Wutzke’s term as deacon which ends December 31 of this year.

BBQ Baptism Briefing and Questions!

It’s Summer and that means it’s time for B.B.Q.’s, but this one is a little different. It seems like there have been a lot of kids and families that are asking about, interested in, or wanting to get baptized, so we’re going to try and put to-gether a couple of B.B.Q.’s to help answer some of those questions. Our first B.B.Q. will be June 23rd after church and we’ll be meeting in the Jr. church room. It’s anticipated that this will last for about 30 minutes total and should begin about 15 minutes after church has ended. If you’ve never been immersed or if you’re just wanting to learn more about baptism, and why we do what we do … we invite you to join us for this great time of learning together. (there may or may not be actual food present at this meet-ing : )) If you plan on attending, please let Brad know so that he can plan how much material to have ready to go!

SAGINAW SOUP KITCHEN June 21 ~ 8:50 a.m.

Would you like to do something good that makes a big difference in people’s lives? Why not join the volunteers that go to the East Side Soup Kitchen in Saginaw on the 3rd Friday of each month. They help prepare food and also serve it. They are usu-ally back around 1:00 p.m. There is a sign up on the middle hall-way board.

YOUR ELDERS MEET

Our elders meet each month. If you have any praises or concerns, feel free to share them with any elder or Brad.

Next Weekend, we’re inviting everyone in the family to join us up near Grayling for the fam-ily fishing weekend. We have some space reserved along Lake Margrethe and we’ll be doing some fishing, camping, cooking, laugh-ing, and just plain having a good time! There is a sign-up in the middle hallway for those that are inter-ested in going, and you can also talk to Larry Thick for more information.

Bible Bowl It’s that time of year – tournament time! The kids have been working hard since September studying the book of Acts. After months of studying it’s time for the final polishing and to travel the country to meet up with old friends, make new great memories, see how much we can remember and how fast we can buzz in. The team will be traveling to Kentucky, Ten-nessee, & Ohio this year and the National tournament is in early July in Louisville! Please keep the team and the coaches in your prayers as they are on the road for much of the month and as they make these lifelong memories!

Mission Trip to Woodburn We’re excited to be heading back down to Wood-burn, IN for a weekend mission trip to bless a great organization. We’re hoping to take a group down sometime around the 4th of July to put up some new drywall, paint, and take care of some other needs. If you are interested in this area of

ministry, we invite you to sign-up in the middle hallway in the next few weeks. The exact cost of the trip is not known, but it definitely be under $200 for the total cost.

The Story … continues As we turn the page and head into a new season of summer, we’re also turning the page in our journey through the story. After 5 months of covering the Old Testament, it’s now time to move forward and experience the beauty, joy, grace, and peace of Jesus’ ministry on earth. In the next few weeks we’ll have the opportunity to experience Christmas in June, Jesus’ early ministry, and watch as some of the greatest events in the history of the world unfold before our eyes. Make sure to join us each week! June 2 Chapter 21 – Rebuilding the Walls (The conclusion of the Old Testament)

June 9 Chapter 22 – Birth of the King

June 16 Chapter 23 – The Legend Begins

June 23 Chapter 24 – No Ordinary Man

June 30 Chapter 25 – Jesus the Son of God

Bible Learning Program June - August

Our summer learning program returns this month and we’re so excited to see all that the kids will learn and be able to remember! Start-ing this week kids can begin earning points to work towards their goal of qualifying for this year reward day! On August 23-24 we’re having an over-nighter here at the church for all kids 4yrs old – 4th grade that learn enough points during the summer! We’re still dreaming of the specifics of the overnighter, but know that there will be TONS of fun things planned for the youngsters that make it. Parents please encourage your kids to learn verses, bring their Bibles, and invite their friends! Booklets are available in the classrooms and also in the church office. There will be a board set up in the middle hallway that will keep track of the points, please make sure that your kids’ points are accurate.

Cleaning Help We’re looking for a couple more indi-viduals or couples that are willing to help out around the church cleaning and such during the week. The tim-ing is flexible and what you do is mostly up to you. We have a list of ‘to-do’s’ in the janitors room and you could simply come in when it’s convenient for you and ‘check-off’ what you get done. We’re looking to probably

fill about 4 hours or so total for each week and you don’t have to make any ‘firm’ commitments. If you’re interested in this, but would like to learn more, talk to Brad or Gib.

SOFTBALL SCHEDULE Games start at 7:00 p.m. and we
