Term 3 / Week 8/ 2019

Tell Them From Me Survey This Term, our school will be participating in the Partners in Learning parent survey, another part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys (student, teacher and parent surveys) on student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. Running this survey will help our school understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school. These include: communication between parents/carers and staff, activities and practices at home and parent/carer views on the school's support of learning and behaviour. This valuable feedback will help our school make practical improvements. The survey is conducted entirely online on smartphones, iPads, tablets, laptops or computers. The survey will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. The parent survey will be conducted between 26 August and 25 October. Although participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, your responses are very much appreciated.

DSM news

Spring is upon us at last and it is nice to see some warmer weather. If your child/ren tend to burn easily, please encourage them to wear a hat during recess and lunch. In terms one and four, it is mandatory for all of Kapooka staff and students to wear hats whenever we are outside. If you are missing yours, please start the hunt now or you can purchase a new hat from the Uniform Shop for $25.00 Some dates to remember for events are: The 2019 Christmas Treat will be held at the Oasis Aquatic Centre on Saturday 23rd November. Timings will soon be confirmed. There will be many exciting thigs to do such as rides, food, swimming and Santa will come and pay a visit. DCO have begun the organisation of the 2020 Welcome afternoon at the Oasis Aquatic Centre on Saturday 15 February from 5:30 – 8:00. This is a great evening out to connect with the wagga community and great fun for kids and adults alike. There are a range of stalls offering information on what Wagga can offer your family and a great place to meet new friends and spend time with current friends. The Ranch is holding Pilates classes every Monday night from 7:00 – 8:00. Get fit while being social and forming new friendships. The cost is $5.00 for members or $10.00 for non-members. The Kapooka Neighbourhood House has Piglets Playgroup every Wednesday from 9:00 – 11:00. Bring $2.00 per family and a piece of fruit to share and connect with other parents while the children have a great time playing. If you are not yet a member of The Ranch or The Kapooka Neighbourhood House and would like to join, please let me know and I can pass on the membership forms to you. Please remember to let us know if the serving member in your family is away for a length of time. You can do this by, email, in person to the class teacher, the office ladies or myself or by phone. If there has been a late notification of postings, again, please let us know so we can prepare your child/ren for the upcoming move. We have held our first moving group of the year for families that are leaving at the end of Term 3. The students have enjoyed coming together weekly and working on strategies to cope with saying goodbye to current friends and how to make new friends at the new posting, remembering many special things about Wagga and Kapooka Public School and what adventures lay waiting for them in their new locality. Next term, more moving groups will be run. If you haven’t done so already, please let us know if your family has received a posting order, so your child/ren can be part of the moving groups.
