NEWSLETTER 19 th February 2016 confident active creative literate numerate thinker respect responsibility pride Dear Parents & Caregivers Patrick Burke has now joined us in Marama. We are sure Patrick will have a great time with us at Upper Moutere. We also welcome Esther back to Upper Moutere. Esther has joined Turama. The Triathlon last Friday was a great afternoon, where so many of our students pushed themselves to achieve to the best of their ability. Congratulations to them all, but especially our place getters… see over. Great that so many of you were able to join us… it is always a summery way to start the year! Congratulations too to the winning House…. Supplejack. Speaking of House events… how about you joining your child in our first ever House Family Challenge. What are you doing Sunday 20 March from 4- 6pm? How about joining us at school for a bit of a community get together, take on other parents for some House rivalry… yes a ribbon or two will be up for grabs and SUMS will have a sausage sizzle underway to help boost energy levels. Should be a fun couple of hours at school with our families. More details to follow. Our Big Day Out initially planned for next Friday is on hold, simply because the date has loomed a bit too quickly for us and we have had to change our original plan due to a clash of dates. Perhaps in a few weeks time… we will keep you informed. Next Tuesday afternoon is the Moutere Hills Swimming Sports for Year 4-8. We host this here and are joined by Mahana, Dovedale, Tasman and Tasman Bay Christian Schools. You are welcome to join us. The Year1- 3 Swimming Sport is the following week at Mahana School. Yesterday Brooke began her Chemotherapy treatment. Clare tells me ”she is being amazing”. If you would like to contact Brooke her address is Brooke Perry Ward 27b Starship Children’s Hospital 2 Park Road, Grafton, Auckland 1023 There are a number of community activities in the planning to support Brooke and her family. The Moutere Inn has offered to host a Quiz Night especially for Brooke, so if we can max the place out on Thursday 10 th March with 90 people all trying to showcase their knowledge, or lack thereof… I am sure we can have a great night and raise some money too. A Sponsored Run is being organised – details further in the newsletter. The Givealittle Page is up and running, and Buttons for Brooke are selling brilliantly. ASB Banking Today Andrew from the ASB popped into our Learning Celebration to tell everyone that school banking is now available to those who would like to set this up. See the new bank account details inside. Please make changes wherever you have our bank account number saved/stored. We have not had the opportunity to provide a banking service for our students before. We will see what the demand is for this and then determine how regularly students will be able to deposit their savings through the school with the ASB. Our Metal mobile nets are coming away from the outer piping, does anyone have the skill, equipment and time to weld these back on for us please? Also is there a couple of parents who have some time to help me paint over the old logo on our wall and replace it with our new logo? Upper Moutere Community Cares As many of you may be aware, one of our gorgeous students at Upper Moutere School has recently been diagnosed with a rare condition, Aplastic Anemia. To allow her and her family the ability to concentrate on what is important during this time of treatment and recovery there will be several fundraising/sponsorship opportunities to assist. Richmond Athletic Soccer Club: Girls Football 2016 The soccer season is not far away.
