Crickets!

You could hear the sound of crickets last week in the Pre-K classes, and it wasn’t because someone told a bad joke! In fact, there were lots of giggles and laughter throughout the room! The Pre-K classes are in the midst of an entomology study! With the help of Mr. Roach, our lower school science specialist, each child in Mrs. Highley, Mrs. Dunn, and Mrs. Stewart’s class was able to observe a live cricket up close and personal. The children learned how to use Petri-dishes and magnifying glasses to look at the details of their crickets. They drew outstanding pictures of the details of these insects. Learning to make accurate observations is the first step in becoming great scientists! Through hands-on labs and experiences, students develop skills important to scientific exploration. It all starts in Pre-K!
