Creswick North Primary School - Quality Education In A Caring Environment
Principal’s Report On behalf of the Creswick North Primary School community I would like to
extend a warm welcome to our new Foundation students and their families. We
hope you enjoy your educational journey and thank you for entrusting your
children to us. Also, welcome back to our existing students and families. By all
accounts children were well and truly ready to get back to school. Personally, it
is certainly nice to be back at Creswick North and I am looking forward to what
promises to be a very busy and productive school year.
We welcome Mrs Baulch to the senior school. She has teamed up with Mrs
McLennan taking our senior grade for 2017. I will be taking the specialist
program throughout the year beginning with PE and Art in Term 1. Please note
assemblies will take place fortnightly every second Monday afternoon at 3.10pm.
It was great to see so many attend our first assembly this week!
Please remember to contact the office regarding illness and student absences on
the day, preferably in the morning so we know where and why children are away.
Under new guidelines from the Department of Education only legitimate illnesses
will be accepted, therefore after three unexplained absences the department
wants to know why? A simple phone call explaining the absence is all that is
required.
Finally, I am currently obtaining quotes for several maintenance projects around
the school. These include painting the entrance hallway and installing cabinetry
along one side for display purposes, installing new blinds and painting in Mrs
Kirby’s room with new blinds in Multipurpose Room also. I also propose to give
the vegie garden more structure by erecting a fence around its perimeter and
new pathways to and from the storage shed and cubby. This along with our new
shade sail over the playground and new bike racks for both junior and senior
grades will undoubtedly spruce up the look of our great school. If anyone would
like to assist in the planning of the garden, please come in and have a chat.
Have a great week!
Principal
Darren Mooney

Foundation, Year 1/2 Dear Parents,
Thank you for your support with our Take Home Reading Program. It
was wonderful to see the faces of the students when they received
their Take Home Books. I hope you enjoy sharing reading each night
with your child.
Some suggestions for a great start to reading are:-
Look through the entire book first with your child, discussing the
‘storyline’ first.
Remember to say ‘Check the picture’ before you
start to ‘read’ with your child.
Look for the letter that their name begins with.
Talk about how you must point to a word when you
say it.
Make it a gentle, happy experience.
We want children to always LOVE reading.
Each Foundation students has been allocated a Buddy from Grade 6
with 2 Grade 5’s to make up the numbers. We look forward to the
Foundation students forming a very positive relationship with their
Buddy.
Next week Foundation students will be doing some of the following-:
Letter of the Week: Cc
Number of the week: 2 Two
Show and Tell -
This will be Friday Afternoon.
More information to follow.
We will begin our new Unit of “Kindness”- next week

Grade 3’s doing
Birthday investigations and 5/6 exploring numbers
from 100’s to 100,000’s. They have been using differ-
ent methods and materials to create their numbers
out of wooden blocks and their classmates, whilst
having lots of fun.
Our new chook monitors, Ruby and Jordy are
doing a fabulous job looking after our chickens.
Their jobs include feeding them wheat, giving them water and letting
them walk around. Betty was enjoying her dirt bath today!
