On Wednesday, the 9th of September, the Year 10.1 Science class went on a field trip

down to the beach near our College. The aim of the excursion was to put into practice

their 'fossil-making' skills. The students have been learning how to make 'fossils' by

taking moulds of the inprints left in the sand by animals, as well as some shells and

other objects, as part of their 'Geological Time' Science unit. Many thanks to our

laboratory assistant, Mrs Harris, for joining us for the excursion.

Different food, environment, culture and language means people are out of their comfort zone. That is the place where change can occur. What a great team of kids who took on the challenge. Looking forward to seeing the change. Danelle Hamilton

Francis of Assisi said: "For it is in giving that we receive." What I received at Widhya Asih Singaraja Children's Home can not be expressed in words... Manie Smith

To me, Bali was the most meaningful trip I've ever been on. The moment we got there my heart melted and the moment we left my heart broke. Jessica Wasley

I saw and heard so many different heartbreaking and inspiring stories from the kids, that made me grow so attached to them that when I left I was heartbroken. I can't wait for when I go back to them all again and hear about how they have grown. Marcha Oosthuizen

Bali was an amazing experience. It made me happy to see what we as a school were able to do to help children in need. It made me realise how grateful we should be for what we have. Matthew Carlson

I was filled with happiness, knowing that we're contributing to a faithful service, where the children of Widhya Asih are well cared for and blessed. Jono Authers

Early in the trip I had to make a choice, as I like my comforts. I chose to have a positive mindset and remember this trip was not about me. It was absolutely worth eating rice and more rice! Ellie Hamilton

The children show so much gratitude for the little things we take for granted. It was such an awesome life changing experience. Bryn Norman

First meeting the kids is something we will never forget, the huge smiles on their faces welcoming us into their home. The trip was an incredible experience, learning and trying new things and being apart of the Balinese culture for 5 days. Emily Ebert

How do I explain the Bali Compassion trip? It is an adventure in understanding. Together we discover the power of culture and the injustice of wealth. We through this opportunity contribute to each others lives. We take money, but we take home insight. Ryan Cristonsen

Every visit is different, you meet new people and hear different sto-ries yet every time I say goodby I leave with the same sense of humility and gratefulness. See-ing what little they have and yet they're still so joyful and full of life is an encouragement. Megan Quick

The Bali trip is an experience that only being there will impact one's perception and relationship with our students and the Balinese students. Each one of us came home with a new and different empowerment and understanding from when we left. Our donations are reaching out to over 60 students and making education achievable for them from Primary to University.Sharon Garcia

On my trip to Bali I had the chance to experience sharing my love of football with all the children. Aimee Coghlan

It was an eye-opening experience to live with such wonderful children for 6 days. It made me realise how much we have and take for granted. Raewyn Mann

Last year we launched the used Battery Recycling Program at Quinns. Please place them in the specially decorated bin (see photo) in the LIBRARY.

No car or phone batteries please.

If you put the batteries in the general household rubbish bin it goes to landfill and can contain toxic substances which are harmful if released into the environment. Alternatively they may end up at a composting facility and cause contamination. Through our program all metals and components of the batteries are recycled by Auszinc in New South Wales to make street lights, new batteries and steel frames

for houses.

Library is open before and after school so bring them in! Let’s see how many kilograms of batteries we can collect this year.

Thanks to Mindarie Regional Council for setting this up and collecting the batteries.

Quinns Battery Recycling Program
