Dear Parents
This is the last newsletter for the term. It is hard to believe that we are almost half way through the school
year. It has been a very busy and productive six months. I would like to take this opportunity to thank
you for your support of the students and their learning. Together, we make the difference, treasuring the
past, embracing the present, and challenging the future. I wish you all a very safe and enjoyable July
break with your children.
New Board of Trustees
At the Board of Trustees meeting last week Maia Ririnui was appointed to the position of Board Chair
and Jenner Ballenger-Judd to the Board Secretary. Congratulations and thank you to Maia and
Jenner. You will be aware from my last newsletter, which the new Board is made up of four parent
representatives, as there were only four nominations. Boards are normally made up of five parent
elected representatives. The Board are meeting on 4 July at 2.45 pm in the Board Room to decide
whether to resolve to reduce the number of parent elected trustees to 4, or start the process of
selecting, or electing a fifth parent elected trustee. This is a public meeting, and you are welcome to
attend.
PRINCIPAL’S Resignation
You would have received a letter from Maia Rirunui, the new Board of Trustees Chair, who last week
announced my resignation. My last day at Bellevue School will be Friday 27 September. Thank you to
everyone for your well wishes, it has been greatly appreciated. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at
Bellevue School and I will miss the school community. My wife Janine, and I are moving to Ohope to
manage “Ohope Beach Resort”, which is a significant change for both of us, as Janine is also a
teacher. I have been telling people that we have been in education since we were three years of age,
so it is time for a change. I am looking forward to making the most of the next ten weeks of Term 3 with
you all, before I leave. Be assured that the Board of Trustees are already working on a rigorous
process to ensure the appointment of an outstanding Principal. If you’re passing through Ohope in the
future please, do look us up.
Year 3/4 Sports Afternoon
Congratulations to the Student Leaders who organised, and ran a most successful sports afternoon for
our Year 3/4 students. Games included; Master Tag, T-ball, Dodge Ball, Confidence Course, Capture
the Flag and Two Ball Soccer.

Congratulations to Lola Lowry, Piper Rickey, Lenix Gear and Ruby Allan who represented Bellevue
School at the Western Bay of Plenty event. Amani, Piper and Ruby also competed in the Bay of Plenty
event.
PTA Disco
Thank you to all the families that supported the Disco. Thank you to the PTA committee for their
organisation, and thanks also to the parents and Student Leaders who supported them. Your help is
greatly appreciated. The funds raised will go towards the new Junior Adventure Playground.
Next BOT Meeting Monday 29 July 7:00 in the Board Room.
Meetings are open to the public. A copy of the agenda is available at the office from 2.00 p.m. on

General information for your school newsletter
NZ Police recently launched a new non-emergency number, 105. We’ve done this to make it easier to get hold of us in the event of non-urgent situations or ‘Things which have Already Happened’, which don’t require Police assistance immediately. You can call us on 105 for all non-emergencies, or you can go online at 105.police.govt.nz to report things like: - Lost property - Theft for a public place or car - Intentional property damage - Or to get an update or add info to a previous report
In the event of an emergency, always call 111 - Things that are Happening Now.
