I believe this is the last time you have to bear with me with these messages in

the Newsletter.

thWhile the clock is ticking away, and the countdown for our 50 anniversary

meeting at Bangalore (Nov 13-16)has begun, I can assure you that the organising

team is really struggling hard to make sure it is a memorable occasion for all of us

.If there are still a few who are not sure whether to attend, I urge you to join the 1700 other people, ( who

have already registered)to come have a good time at this magnificent Convention center at Whitefield ,

Bangalore on this historic occasion for our fraternity in India. For those of you who have already th

registered , you can take a look at all the Pre conference courses lined up for you on the 13 of

November and decide which one to attend before you book your flights.If anyone needs help with

whatever arrangements for this conference please do not hesitate to contact me or one of the

organisers and we will make our best efforts to see what we can do.

Dear Colleagues,

Warm Greetings!

The Newsletter is out with yet another edition and I must congratulate Dr. Rajasekhar , Dr. Mimansa Bhoj,

Dr Vimalambiga and the entire editorial team for their stupendous efforts.

We have all been hearing about the AOMSI Golden Jubilee Torch here, there and everywhere, and this

edition of the newsletter has charted out the journey that the torch has taken up so far and also the proposed

path. This overview will not only motivate us members but also demonstrate that how a herculean task can be simplified and

achieved when team work is present. I congratulate all the State Chapters for performing their role enthusiastically and diligently

and accomplishing this glorious task.

The AOMSI Golden Jubilee celebrations will conclude at the 44 th National Conference of AOMSI at Bangalore, with innovative

new sessions designed keeping OMFS in focus.

On behalf of the entire organizing team , I invite you all to be a part of this magnanimous event and make it a grand success.

I also request each member to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming conference and make the right choices in electing the

representatives of our specialty. This is not only a right bestowed upon us as AOMSI members but a responsibility too. Let us fulfill

it the best way possible!

SEASON’S GREETINGS

Dear Members,

At the outset, I deem it as an honour to bring out this issue of the Newsletter, as it contains a

bundle of activities happening across India. As a mark of The Golden Jubilee year, our association

designed nationwide awareness run program, which is creating waves among the public and

increasing the awareness of our specialty.

This issue also contains for the first time about the Annual State Chapter Conferences of AOMSI

across India organized till September first week.

This herculean task of collecting data and compiling was mainly done by Dr Mimansa and Dr Vimalambiga, without whom

this issue would not have seen the light of the day and I profoundly thank them.

I sincerely thank all the State Presidents and Secretaries, awareness run coordinators and state chapter conference

organizers for their contribution to this newsletter.

I specially thank Dr Krishnamurthy Bonanthaya and Dr Pritham Shetty for their guidance in bringing out this newsletter.

I also thank A1 Logistics for circulating the eNewsletter through our website and Ms Yaazhini of Cevvi, Coimbatore for

designing and formatting the newsletter.

AOMSIAOMSI GOLDEN JUBILEETORCH RUNGOLDEN JUBILEETORCH RUN

To mark and commemorate 50 years of AOMSI and the celebrations of our Golden Jubilee, the head office conceived and envisaged the idea of having a marathon happening across the various states of India. The vision was to create an awareness among the public about Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. It was also an opportunity for all fellow Maxillofacial Surgeons to get their running shoes on and be apart of this grand event.The torch was lit on the 23rd of September ,2018 and it

commenced at the southern most tip of Costal India at Kanyakumari. The run was flagged off from the legendary Vivekananda Memorial. The event saw widespread participation of public as well as students of various schools and colleges. The enthusiasm of the organisers were evident from the various other events like rallies, camps, skits , flash mobs etc organised in addition to the regular marathon.What made the event even more memorable was the participation

of famed personalities which added importance to event making it media worthy.With the 44th Annual Conference of AOMSI soon approaching , the

torch is expected to reach the host city Bengaluru on 10th October 2019.

Dr. Moni Abraham Kuriakose is the President of the International Academy of Oral Oncology. He took over the Presidency in the recent IAOO conference that happened in Rome, Italy in September 2019. Dear Friends,

We have reached another significant milestone in the life of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons of India. 50 years ago, a group of enthusiastic surgeons sat together in Bengaluru and chartered this journey. Since then this association has seen a meteoric rise in its activities. It has adapted to change, both locally and globally and stood up to tribulations. Today we are at the threshold of a bright future. A future filled with leadership and Academic excellence, combined with technology. The Association has supported and nurtured all. AOMSI stands today, tall among its peers and growing by the day. It has excelled in supporting both training and public awareness. Every year we meet annually to celebrate both academically and socially. It is only destiny and perseverance that has allowed this gala event to come back to its birth place, Bengaluru.

I, therefore am excited as all of you to be part of this landmark event. We promise you a scientific extravaganza with a fun social programme. The Garden City in November is at its best with cool weather and activities to entertain one and all. On behalf of the Organizing Committee and the AOMSI I invite all of you, both colleagues and industry to be part of this celebrations.
