MAIA Update on
COVID-19 situation
Update on COVID-19
The Government of Malaysia has implemented the Restriction
of Movement Order (RMO) from 18th March 2020 to 28th April
2020 as a measure to address the spread of
COVID-19 cases.
The implementation of the RMO may have a dire impact on
the Malaysian aerospace industry due to the temporary
suspension of various services and production activities.
MAIA has engaged with YB Dato' Seri Mohamed Azmin Bin Ali,
Minister of International Trade and Industry, whereby we have
addressed these matters with the Government on behalf of
industry, to mitigate any possible negative impact on the
industry.
MAIA has been and is collating feedback from our members,
in order to compile a list of critical issues and recommended
solutions required from Government, for the manufacturing
and MRO sectors.
Safety Measures during COVID-19 outbreak
Wash your hands with soap and water
frequently
Use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not
available
Avoid contact with other persons (practice
social distancing)
use a face mask if you have symptoms
seek medical attention if you have any of the
symptoms
Please refer to MAIA website at http://maia.my/ for all the latest SOP’s and other guidance for COVID19 support
MAIA was invited by Small & Medium Enterprises
and Regional Innovation, JAPAN (SME Support,
Japan) to attend the CEO Business Meeting Event

CEO Business
Meeting Event for
Innovative
Technology in Japan
T H E O B J E C T I V E S O F T H I S E V E N T
1. to network not only between Malaysia
and Japanese companies, but also the
other Asian countries that participated
such as Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam,
Singapore, and India.
2. to explore any potential collaboration
between Malaysian and Japanese
companies.
MAIA engaged with a few Japanese
Companies; Tokyo Hardfacing Inc, PC Farm
Co., Ltd, Sugawasa Seiki Co.,Ltd,
Shinkukigyou Co., Ltd, Kansai Bureau of
Economy, Trade and Industry (METI KANSAI),
HADA Seikou Co., Ltd, and Mitaka Seihan
Co., Ltd. These companies are looking into
potential business or collaboration with
Malaysian companies.
On top of that, MAIA received a request from
Kansai Bureau of Economy, Trade and
Industry (METI- Kansai) to host a few
Japanese companies to visit Malaysia in
February 2020.
DURING THIS 6-DAY EVENT, ONE OF THE ACTIVITIES WAS A VISIT TO AEROSPACE AICHI AND MRJ MUSEUM. ALL THE PARTICIPANTS WERE BRIEFED ABOUT MRJ’S DEVELOPMENT, TECHNOLOGY AND MANUFACTURING OF THE AIRCRAFT.
Mr Naguib spoke about the aerospace
industry ecosystem in Malaysia. His
presentation touched on the development
of the Malaysian aerospace supply chain
and how Malaysian and Japanese
companies, particularly SMEs, can
collaborate for the growth of the
aerospace ecosystem in both countries.
The highlight of this 6-day event was the
Business Meeting Event and Seminar for
Innovative Technology on 16th and 18th
October 2019.
The itinerary as below:
The CEO Network Enhancing Project is an initiative to share Japan's innovative technology to eight
invited countries. This is a platform to link Japanese SMEs with other trusted companies across the
world. It was an honor and privilege for Global Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd (GTA ) to be invited to participate
in this program. GTA has developed to become a leading MRO service provider for the aerospace
industry and has shown excellent progress over the years. GTA’s participation in the CEO Network
Enhancing Project connects us directly with Japanese companies that possess excellent products
and technical strengths that could form the basis of an opportunity to collaborate and cooperate with
them.
The event participants were introduced to the SME manufacturers with experience in the
implementation of advance technology, product quality, cost management and on-time processing.
We were able to observe their processes and basic operations - which increased our level of interest
to select matching companies. During the Business Meeting, we also had the opportunity to organize
one-on-one interactions with the Japanese companies with different backgrounds and expertise.
More importantly, we were able to learn the details of products, respective business content, and to
exchange ideas, point of views and business cultures - which could help us to explore suitable
partnerships for future development.
We received positive feedback from the companies that were interested in coordinating future
visits to GTA and to have further discussions. Such participation overseas, enables us to build
more opportunities for growth and for diversification, instead of merely focusing on existing
markets. In conclusion, participating in this CEO Networking Enhancing Project provided various
benefits - information gathering, valuable experience, mutual understanding of
each other’s businesses, and building trust for future business collaboration.
