    The Extension Office has moved!

    As of October 1stthe Plymouth County ExtensionOffice has moved to its new location at 44 OberyStreet, Plymouth, MA. The new office building ishome to other county departments and we arepleased with our new office space and location.

    Our phone number will remain the same, 781-293-3541. We currently do not have an answeringmachine or voicemail; we will be getting thesefeatures set up over the coming weeks so pleasebear with us as we settle in.

    We do have a new fax number, 774-773-3184 soplease take note of that.

    The Plymouth County 4-H Advisory Councilmeetings will now be held at 44 Obery Street andother 4-H meetings will be held here from time totime.

    Enrollment 2014-2015

    All 4-H Clubs and leaders should have receivedtheir new enrollment packets by now and should bedistributing them to club members. Enrollment isdue by in the Extension Office on November 14th.Please note that if you turn enrollment in on timemembers pay the early bird fee of $25. After

    November 14th

    the fee is $30 per member.

    4-H Records

    The 4-H Record forms have been updated and areavailable on the 4-H website atwww.mass4h.orgRecords are due to the Plymouth County office byNovember 14th. Records turned in after this datewill be judged but will not be eligible for countymedals.

    4-H Community ServiceThe fall season isCommunity Serviceseason in PlymouthCounty 4-H. As in yearspast, we have the 4-HFood Drive your clubcan participate in by

    collecting nonperishablefood for a local pantry inyour town. Your club can also participate in othercommunity service projects. Please just make sureto let the office know what your club is doing. Wewould like 100 % participation in communityservice projects for Plymouth County 4-H Clubs.

    4thH for Health Challenge

    The 4th H for Health Challenge is a fun, simpleway to make your club meetings healthier. Itseasy! Simply serve water, fruits, and vegetablesas snacks and do some sort of physical activityfor 15 minutes at four of your club meetings. 4-Hmembers will earn a 4th H for Health pin andcertificate upon completion.

    2014 Massachusetts 4-H Forum

    November 22 at Cummings School for VeterinaryMedicine, Grafton, MA. For all 4-H Volunteersand Youth ages 12 and older. Save the date now!We are excited to offer this opportunity. Workshopsare planned in livestock (sheep, goats, dairy), horse,and human/animal interaction; many will be

    taught by Tufts faculty and staff. In addition, wewill be webcasting the Northeast Forum live fromCollege Park, Maryland. These sessions will includeAnimal Science Toolkit, Understanding YouthEngagement, and Hosting Healthy Events. Therewill be tours of the facility and plenty of time tomeet members and volunteers fromacross the state.

    Registration cost will be $10 thanks to thesponsorship of the Massachusetts 4-H Foundation.

    A light breakfast, lunch, and all program materialsare included in this cost. Pre-registration is required.Conference information and registration materialswill be posted to the homepage of the website inOctober. We hope you will join us for this excitingevent!

    4-H Horse Judging

    The Tri-County 4-H Horse Judging Contest will beheld on Sunday, November 2ndAt Levaland Farm inMiddleboro, MA. A clinic on horse judging will

    take place from 9-12. The contest to compete for aspot on the County 4-H team to participate at stateswill be held from 1-4 PM. Details will be sent to all4-H Horse clubs and leaders as the event nears.

    4-H Horse Bowl

    The Plymouth County 4-H Horse Bowl andHippology contest will be Saturday, January 3rd.Please save the date, more information will beavailable as it gets closer.

    4-H Awards Night

    The Plymouth County 4-H Awards Program will beheld on Friday, January 23rdat the Emerald Hall inAbington, MA. The program will begin at 5:30,with dinner served at 6 PM. The evening willconsist of the presentation of annual 4-H award formembers and volunteers, the 4-H Advisory Councilsilent auction, dinner, dessert and more! All 4-Hfamilies are invited to attend.

    4-H Awards Nominations Due

    Nominations for annual 4-H awards are due to thePlymouth County Extension Office by December1st. All 4-H Leaders should have receivedinformation in their enrollment packet. Awardnominations include clover awards, project medals,and special awards. CORE award and 4-H Key

    Awards applications are also due at this time.Please let the office know if you think a member orvolunteer deserves recognition at our county 4-Haward program.

    The South East Mass 4-H Winter Workshop will beheld on Saturday Feb 7that Silver Lake MiddleSchool in Kingston.

    Plymouth County 4-H Visual Presentation Day willbe held Saturday, March 7that 9 AM at Silver LakeMiddle School in Kingston.

    Cranberry Acres Open House

    Come join the Excellent Equestrians 4-H Club forthe 2ndannual Pony rides for Boston Children'sHospital community service club event. We willbe doing Pony rides on October 25th from 10-3 at

    Cranberry Acres Equestrian in Marshfield. Ponyrides will be given in exchange for a new toy/giftcard to donate.

    ALL of the money raised through this fundraiserwill be going directly to the Child Life team atChildrens. This is the "fun" department. They arein charge of special gifts for kids who are in thehospital. Maybe a teddy bear for the child who isgoing in for testing and is scared. An I-tunes giftcard for that teenager who has spent the last month

    in the hospital and is very bored with their currentmusic. Purchasing art supplies for the kids who arecoming in for treatment and have to sit for longhours with IV lines in. Its an amazing program!

    New 4-H Clubs

    Please join us in welcoming the new EquestrianElement 4-H Horse Club to Plymouth County!

    Equestrian Element 4-H Club is based out of MareWillow Farm in South Plymouth.

    We would also like to welcome the Horsing Around4-H Club at Dusty J Farm in Kingston.

    And another new 4-H Horse Club; Bit of Ridingwill be led by long time 4-H Volunteer NoraReardon and the club will meet at Levaland Farm inMiddleboro.

    There are also a few other newclubs in Plymouth Countyincluding an exciting new 4-HCraft Club in East Middleboroand we have a brand new 4-HRecycling Club that will meet inPlymouth. Welcome to all!

    National 4-H Horse Round-Up

    Please join us in wishing our Plymouth County 4-Hmembers good luck as they head to Louisville,Kentucky to compete at the National 4-H HorseRound- Up. The competition takes place November7th-9that the Kentucky Fairgrounds. PlymouthCounty 4-Hers who qualified are:

    4-H Horse Advisory Tack Sale

    Plymouth County 4-H Horse Advisory Council ishaving a Tack Consignment sale on November 30,at the Marshfield Fairgrounds. Tables available forrent will be $30 per table; Horse clubs can get atable for $15. Please bring your wares to theconsignment sale; clubs are encouraged to dofundraising at this event.     Plymouth County

    4-H Advisory Council

    The Plymouth County 4-H Advisory Council is

    looking for new members to join the board. We arelooking for parents, volunteers or communitymembers who are passionate about the 4-H programand have time to contribute to the Council. The 4-HAdvisory Council helps plan and fund all countywide programs including 4-H awards night, winterworkshopvisual presentations, Marshfield Fair andmany more events and programs through the year.

    The Council also funds scholarships andcamperships to 4-H members and clubs and gives

    the Robery Scholarship annually to a 4-Herattending college.
