Installation of the Class of 2020 Officers is January 7th, 2018 during the Morning Worship Service.
HALF TRUTHS Jan. 14th - Feb 4th There are popular sayings that miss the point. They are simple. They sound Christian. In this study Adam Hamilton searches for the whole truth by comparing some common Christian sayings with the wisdom found in the Bible. Christine Chakoian, a co-host of Covenant Bible Study, writes: “Adam Hamilton exposes well-worn clichés that lead us down unfaithful and sometimes dangerous paths. Most importantly, he points to what Scripture really says, and how that truth can set us free.”
Join us for this 4 week study, beginning Sunday, January 14, from 4-5 pm in the room behind the stage.
COVENANT Bible Study Jan. 11th - Feb. 8th Thursdays at noon in the room behind the stage in the Fellowship Hall .
Covenant is an in-depth Bible study that guides participants through the entire Bible in 24 weeks. The goal of the study is to deepen our understanding of scripture and our response to God’s call to a faithful life.
Each session participants will view a conversation between a Biblical scholar and two co-host pastors as well as discuss assigned scripture readings.
One participant appreciated that our weekly readings move between the Old and New Testaments. Another thought that the daily commentaries were insightful to guide the study. Another said, “I had never before read & studied this much of the Bible, but I found the Covenant Bible Study increased my desire to know even more about God & Jesus. It was both thought-provoking and eye-opening to just learn how incredibly faithful God is to us, His undeserving children.”

First Presbyterian will be conducting the worship service at Magnolia House on Sunday January 8, 15, 22, and 29 at 3:00 pm. Come join us as we enjoy this special time of fellowship with the residents.
The Presbyterian Women delivered your gifts for the Gadsden High School Exceptional
students at the annual Christmas party. The students were so excited and the joy of the
season was reflected in their smiles.
The Presbyterian Women would like to thank you for your genreousity in supporting
this program.
Stephen Ministry has been at work in our congregation for several years. It has been a blessing to individuals, to the lay ministers and to our whole congregation. In order to continue and expand our ministry of care we will begin another
Stephen Ministry training class in the new year. Take a moment to consider whether you would like to be part of this ministry of caring. We are convinced that you will find that being a Stephen Minister is not only helpful to others, but also will be one of the most fulfilling and joyful experiences you have ever had. Contact Ruth if you are interested. 508-6032.

The word “Home” has many meanings to people of faith. As young people go to college, study abroad, begin jobs, engage in mission work, and leave their home towns and families of origin, “Home” begins to have new meanings. What makes a place home? What does it mean to leave home? What does it mean to feel like you don’t have a home? As we wrestle with these questions, we look to the past and to Holy Scriptures; as people of faith, with an eye towards a just future and commissioned by God to engage in Kingdom-building, we reflect on those who do not have a home and cry out for justice and mercy.
A Big Thank You to the May Family for providing the truck and driver who brought our fresh trees, wreaths, and garlands to us!
And, thank you for supporting our youth’s fund raising efforts!

Wow! Can’t believe we are already into a new year!! It’s been a busy one but we already have lots planned for the new year.
On January 2-5 the College age youth will be going to College Montreat. We have 9 students registered to attend this year! Thanks to the Gregory’s for allowing us to use their place for the conference.
On January 11th Route 456’ers are going to SkyZone for the afternoon. Cost is $16/person plus $3 for socks if you don’t have them. I will pick up students from school at 2:30 and we will go straight to Tallahassee. We will return to the church by 5:30 PM.
January 13th we will have our annual Capture the Flag game. Be on the look out for location. We will meet at the church at 4:30 to travel out together. Because of the nature of the game we don’t want individuals driving out. We will host this event as an 850 event with participation from area Tallahassee churches. Girls bring chips or cookies and guys bring a 2-liter drink. Looking forward to a fun event.
Believe it or not it is time to start making a commitment for Summer Camps. Anyone interested in going to The Great Escape (June 10-15) or Montreat (July 21-28) please let me know so that I can get us registered for the early bird specials.
January 29-February 3 I will be attending the Association of Presbyterian Christian Educators in Louisville, KY. Looking forward to insightful and new ideas!
Hope everyone has a Great New Year!!

A Big Thank You to all the chaperones and drivers who made this year’s ski trip possible. And a special thank you to the guys “under the bus” for coming to our rescue!
