Dear Readers,

We are pleased to introduce MPLA’s First News Letter “Prarabhdha” on the

occasion of Dr. Ranganathan’s Birthday on 12th August 2020 at Digital notice

board.

The challenge we face today has been both unexpected and devastating, in the

form of a virus that is spreading rapidly around the globe and that is changing

how we live and work. Today, we want to share with you how we at the MPLA

are facing up to this challenge, and what we are doing to keep you best informed

during this extraordinary crisis.

The increasing role of technology in libraries has a significant impact on the

changing roles of librarians. A 21st-century librarian is required to be very much

updated with technological changes. New age librarians are making greater use

of emerging technologies in the library management and services to make it

more popular and useful among the patrons. New age librarians are not mere

bookworms, they are high-tech information professionals, and smart

communicators, helping patrons dive in the oceans of information available in

books and digital records. Librarians are teachers, problem solvers, innovators,

collaborators, leaders, and learners.

We should inculcate the attitude of thinking big and achieving big so that one

could be recognized at international level. Therefore, in quest of achieving

excellence we should think big, work on cutting edges and generate numbers.

The identified areas are Networking, Management, IPR, Academic integrity,

Digital libraries, E-resources, Resource sharing and Data Science.

AIMS

• To promote the development of all types of libraries in the State of Madhya Pradesh • To develop programs for capacity building and developing skills for personnel in the field of LIS (Library and

Information Science). • To organize the lectures, conferences, meetings, symposium in the field of LIS to share and disseminate the

knowledge to the LIS professionals. • To conduct Continuing Education Programs to share the latest trends / knowledge to the LIS professionals. • To act like pressure group for implementing library legislation in the State of Madhya Pradesh. • To act as an advisory body to the Government and other institutions for the development of libraries. • To maintain liaison with Regional, national and international agencies and make use of their program, funds and

other plans for the development of libraries. • To accept grants and donations and use the same for the development of libraries and library professionals. • To take up any assignment from any agency or Government in the areas of education and libraries. AND • Promoting the technology in libraries for providing quality access to information and knowledge. Further, he also

stated that the activities will be organized throughout State and the professionals are consolidated to improve and strengthen the status of public libraries and academic libraries jointly with other State and National level Associations. He also said that this Association will join hands with everyone and organize the programs for quality library services to be provided by the libraries especially public libraries.

M.P. LIBRARY ASSOCIATION (MPLA) The Madhya Pradesh Library Association established on 5th September

1959 under the Presidentship of Shri H.V. Patasker then Governer of Madhya Pradesh and Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma was First vice-President then Education Minister Government of Madhya Pradesh of Association, Madhya Pradesh Library Association(MPLA) is a non-profit organisation based in Madhya Pradesh that supports development in the entire field of librarianship. The MPLA undertakes supports, coordinate research and studies, conducts short term training courses; organises general/special meetings, and hold seminars and conferences in alternate years on current problems of Libraries and Librarians and other allied areas are selected as themes for discussions.

Since the Insert command embeds a copy, the picture is always visible, but it may greatly increase the size (in bytes) of your newsletter, depending on how large the picture is.

In contrast, Link to File does not increase the size of your newsletter file, and if you make changes to the original picture, they automatically show up in the newsletter. But the picture won’t display if viewed from a computer that can’t link to the original (for instance, if the original picture is stored on another computer on a network).

Insert and Link inserts a copy so that the image is always available, and also automatically updates changes to the original.
