GROUP ACTIVITIES
MISSION MINISTRY
As you can see, Mission Ministry is always busy and we ask that you prayerfully consider joining this ac,ve group. You do not
have to par, cipate in every ac,vity; just join in the ones that touch your heart.
Mission Opportuni3es INTERFAITH MEALS: Mission prepared/provided the meal on January 22
nd. A big thanks to
Onalee Mease who visited our Mission mee3ng and ended up cooking and serving the main
dish for this!!! Also, a special thanks to Diane Thrasher who faithfully contributes cash each
month to help with food or paper supplies.
We do have some open slots for months in 2020 for volunteers to take charge of the meal.
Sign-up sheet on the Bulle3n Board. Mission has funds available to help if you are willing to
work but need some financial assistance. PLEASE sign up.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND INTERFAITH EMERGENCY SERVICES: Look for the brown baskets in
the Narthex. There is an ever present need for canned goods, toiletries, cleaning supplies,
diapers and paper goods for both en33es. Mission delivers up to $200 of fresh and frozen
foods to Domes3c Violence monthly.
BACKPACKS FOR KIDS: Known as the “pudding church”, FKPC collects chocolate or vanilla
pudding for the children par3cipa3ng in the Interfaith Backpack Program. Nell Clegorne will
be happy to purchase pudding by the case from Sam’s Club for $8.00/case, if you need
assistance. (Some folks feel like maybe the kids shouldn’t have so much pudding but Interfaith
asked us to focus on one item so all backpacks would be somewhat equal.)
EQUAL EXCHANGE: Fourth Sunday in each month, you can purchase Fair Trade items (or
any3me from the Church office). We sell the items to support the small farmer vs the
Corporate farmer, not to make profits. We do have some neat items, as well: different flavors
of chocolate, such as orange, ginger and mint AND now we have K-Cups for your coffeemakers,
too! PLEASE visit our table in the Narthex at the end of the month or ask Steve and Sally
Layendecker if you have ques3ons. STAY TUNED FOR MORE OPPORTUNITIES SUCH AS HELPING THE SKILL DAY CENTER,
KIMBERLY’S CENTER, AND WARD-HIGHLANDS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!!!
MISSION NEEDS YOU.
Tai Chi and Qi Gong
Please come join us! The movements are simple, and you can
follow along, either standing or in a chair. Tai Chi is therapeu3c
for body, mind and spirit. And it is free! We hope to see you each Thursday at 3 pm in Fellowship Hall. Donna Lavery and Mary Beth Neely

CONGREGATIONAL CARE
Our Congrega, onal Care Commi<ee is looking forward to an ac,ve new year. We will begin our new year
with a new ac,vity for our congrega,on. On Sunday, February 9th, we will host a Blessing of the Pets,
with the service for dogs at 2:00 and one for cats and other beloved pets at 3:00. We invite you to join us
that aNernoon for our special pet blessing. To help our beloved companion animals and their pet parents
to be as comfortable and safe as possible, we ask the following• All dogs must be on non-retractable
leashes • All cats and other pets must be in carriers or appropriate cages/containers • Please use a cover
for your carrier ( towels work well) • All dogs and cats must have a current rabies shot • Rev. Dyson will be
happy to bless pictures of pets who may not do well at the event or do not travel well • Please consider
your pet’s tolerance of other pets, people and new places in deciding whether this event will work for
them. • We recommend that pets not eat immediately before a<ending the event At 2:00, dogs and their
pet parents will gather in the grassy area in front of the Fellowship Hall for a special service and blessing.
At 3:00, cats and other beloved pets will be inside the Fellowship Hall for a special service and blessing.
We ask that pet parents remain with their companion animal throughout the event. Ft. King Presbyterian
will be collec,ng dona, ons for the Humane Society (dogs) and Sheltering Hands (cats) on that day. In ad-
di,on, we will have special treats for all pets and their parents. Our Blessing of the Pets is open to the
community, so feel free to share with friends and family. We look forward to seeing you and your beloved
companion animal at this special event!
*********************************************************** The Congrega, onal Care Commi<ee has selected “Water” as our primary Earth Care topic of 2020.
Throughout the year we will be sharing informa,on about water and how to be good stewards of this vital
natural resource. Be on the look out for informa,on in the Link, our Sunday bulle,n and the website.
February Water fact A recent study conducted with homeowners in central Florida found that, on
average, 64 percent of the drinking water used by homes went to irriga,on. In the summer months, this
percentage increased to 88 percent, (2015-University of South Florida) For an easy to use Water Usage

FLOWER CALENDAR
Church Flowers - 2020
If you are considering providing flowers (or a plant) sometime for a worship service, but would like to know more about the pro-cess, the following information will be helpful:
The flowers or plant do not need to be purchased from or delivered by a florist. They do not need to be costly; the source and cost are completely your choice.
If you bring them from your yard or buy them from Walmart, Aldi, Publix, etc., they just need to be in a vase, basket, pot, or container of your choice ready to display. There are loaner vases available to use.
There is no minimum or maximum size requirement for the flower arrangement. The flowers are yours to take after the Sunday service. I will be glad to answer any questions you might have, or help with wording for the worship
bulletin.
PLEASE NOTE: Please sign up on the Church Bulletin Board OR call Judith Bullen at 352–351-0870. Thank you to these people as they share in donating the flowers for the following worship services:
