Hello Class 1 children and parents.

Last week we began telephoning some of our families. It was lovely to speak with some of you and

hear about how hard you’ve all been working at home. We’ve been very impressed with the range of

different activities you’ve been doing. Inspired by your creativity, Mrs Williams did some baking for

the first time in a very long time and treated the staff at the hub to a range of delicious muffins :-) and

Mrs Bennett has completed a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle of a rural scene. She enjoyed the challenge so

much that Mr Bennett has built her a bespoke jigsaw table so that she can now attempt her map of

the British Isles Jigsaw.

As you know this Friday is the 75th anniversary of VE day. The Key worker children who are still attend-

ing school will be commemorating this by taking part in an online sing-along on Thursday 7th May at

11.00am. Song sheets can be printed in advance from the site too. You can use this link below to do the

same at home if you wish.

They will also be following the lesson plan on Friday 8th May which explains what VE is and discusses

the importance of the event. You can use this link below to do the same at home if you wish.

Reception Sophia has been working very hard, count-

ing money, completing her phonics work and

creating beautiful

butterflies.

Ellie has been learning about butterflies and spotting

them on her daily walks. She has also learned that

rape seed is made into oil for cooking and has been

helping her mummy to make home-made pizzas.

We think they look delicious!

Isla has been helping to look after the lambs on the family farm with her sisters. She has also been learning

about butterflies and created one using her handprints. The girls have also been learning and having lots of

fun outdoors.

Esafety:

Websites that can help keep children safe online.

https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/ This has links to activities and information for parents and

children about keeping safe online.

https://www.commonsensemedia.org/ This is an organisation dedicated to helping parents/carers

find out information on apps/games/websites/films/music

and whether they are appropriate for children. It gives a

brief overview to better understand what your children are

accessing.

Socialising: This week we received photos of some older children taking part in an online class zoom call.

Parents were obviously around to supervise safe internet use but the children enjoyed catching up with

their friends tremendously. Perhaps this is something you might like to try. Watch this space next week for

a new and exciting way to keep in touch with your buddies.

Home-learning:

This week’s packs have been sent out including activities in Maths and English.

Maths will continue to follow White Rose where children will be able to access videos which now link to

daily BBC bitesize lessons, to help with their understanding and learning in each area.

The link below will help explain this .

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zfwrcqt

The English will continue with the Hamilton Trust Scheme of work.

Other activities will continue to be made available for you to access on the class page of the website.

Max Z.’s mum has recommended the BBC sounds app/website for online stories which covers a range of

genres and titles . Use the link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/category/childrens

Home learning packs will be sent out on a Monday evening and don’t forget the working week will be

from Tuesday to the following Monday.

Please feel free to contact Mrs Williams or Mrs Bennett with any news.
